What type of game is it? VN or full RPG with VN like story?

here are links to the official page and some other videos on gematsu about it, its hard to explain, maybe easier to see

its described as an adventure game, its from the guy who made the zero escape stuff. some of the screen shots looks like areas you'll navigate, but how much of the game unfolds in VN style is yet to be seen. going off other recent stuff from them ive liked im interseted in it based on concept and pedigree so far.

I used to be into those CH, Nippi Ippi Pippi games on the Vita. Because the Vita was lacking games terribly. Now a couple ended up being real good like Mary Skelter. But for the most part, you should stay away from those.

its.... very average. very easy and very medicore. if you want to play a game like that, play Persona 5, Persona 4 golden, Trails of Cold Steel, or the also excellent Tokyo Xanadu eX+, but be sure to play the ps4 version on TX, runs alot better and has two epilogue chapters that are pretty good.

im struggling to continue, but since you said it gets better im trying, but with yakuza 3-6 sitting there looking at me, the trails in the sky/crossbell/cold steel series waiting, ac origins and odyssey, days gone imminently releasing (gonna play that right away so brother can play when im done with it), and some other stuff its hard.

new stuff on the new Sakura Wars game, in the story 12 years have passed since SW so long my love, its looking pretty good. https://gematsu.com/2019/04/project-sakura-wars-de...

I saw that article a couple of days ago and i'm pretty hyped for the game. I only played a few hours of So Long, My Love but I really enjoyed it. Probably going to grab this one on day 1.

I actually just started up Yakuza 6 over the weekend. Didn't really have much time so I'm only 2-3 hours in, but it's really good. I told myself I would just focus on the story and not get sidetracked by the side stuff, but I'm already getting drawn into sub stories and I spent like half an hour playing Darts. It's going to be one hell of a ride!

I did literally everything and I think it was under 50 hours.

You probably haven't hit it yet, but Onomichi is freaking great. It's my favorite Yakuza location besides the main area that makes it into every game. That area also has a top 10 series side quest. You'll know it when you see it.

Just discovered this thread. Neat.

Recently snagged FFIX and FFVII on Switch. Waiting to finish IX before I jump into VII. I've beaten IX, but only gotten maybe 1/3 or 1/2 through FFVII, while also playing a bit of other parts of the game when my friend was playing through way back in the day. Looking forward to experiencing the entirety of it on my own.

Just thought I'd share, real pumped for my FF-athon. Will be snagging X when that hits the eshop.

I still haven't picked up Octopath, no. I really need to. The demo was fantastic and I'm in love with the art style.

I'm just feeling really nostalgic lately, and those two FF games (and Spider-man PS1 haha) are what really introduced me to the "modern" age of gaming, outside of the Nintendo bubble. So when I saw they were hitting Switch, I made it a point to snag them and play through them once and for all.

BUT I think Octopath is next up on my RPG list - even if FFX comes out before I finish IX and VII. I need to play through that one.

It was the best straight up turn based JRPG I played in a looong time. Tomoya Asano knows how to make video games apparently.

Old Square is good for sure as well though.

Now that I'm feeling better I should be able to get back to Bloodborne tomorrow, need to finish it off. I had been kind of all over the place playing some Tales of the Abyss and Armored Core 2 because my PS2 is hooked up on my CRT which is where the couch is and being sick I just kinda molded into the couch lol.

they may release the royal content for it as dlc when that comes out, but if P5S is just a switch port of the base game that may release before P5R does. P5R isnt slated for japan til halloween this year and everyone else next year so a switch port could be nearly ready right now. if S is just R but on switch we're still in for quite the wait.

depending on how you read that interview with the Atlus brand manager recently you could surmise that there is no switch port coming, and that S is something entirely different. im hoping its NOT a "S"martphone game... please dont let it be a phone game. but he may have just deflected the idea of a switch port to save that for the big reveal at the event today

Aaaaaand more info on may 9th!!??? Be still my beating heart!!!

P5S is a dynasty warriors persona 5 game... did i want that..not really, but i will play it because its P5. ps4 and switch

https://gematsu.com/2019/04/omega-force-developed-...

seems like a big missed opportunity for them, and they had to know "S" was gonna get people thinking switch. do i personally need a switch game, no, but i know alot of people wanted it, and i want more people to get to play this game.

but why put out a base game port when you have your definitive edition coming so soon, maybe p5r gets a switch version announced later.

i dont hate 13 like the internet does either, but even 12 doesnt get close to 10 for me, but i have 10 in my top 5 games of all time. 12 is just too different for me to call it the last great final fantasy, as they changed so much with 12, its like 12 is the beginning of the new era more than it ended the old.
12 is super good though, its amazing really, definitely not to be missed and treat for rpg fans. i'll def play zodiac age one of these days.

FF rankings are always tough for me. I always flip flop on my top 3. But here goes...

9 > 10 > 6 > 12 > 7 > 15 > Tactics > 13 > 5 > 8 > Lightning Returns > 10-2 > 13-2

Lightning Returns, 10-2 and 13-2 are the only ones that I didn't love, but I liked them well enough. Lightning Returns is the only one of the three i'd replay, though. It's a really underrated game. Lightning rules, the customization options and the combat are great, and I really dug the time mechanic. Shame about the story, though. It's just so bad. Lightning deserved better.

In general, many of these will probably end up being pretty pricey later. Especially the VNs which probably have a low print run and aren't getting more due to Sony ending Vita cart production.

Ahh... FF rankings again. Just because it's fun to stir things up, mine is:

5>6>4>3>1>2>9>.....7>12>..... it gets hard at this point because they're crap from here, but... 10-2>10>.....8>13?

Note: 13-2 and 15 are unranked due to my not playing them. If I put Tactics in this list, it would fall between 9 and 7.

So... why do I rank some so low? I'll break it down:

7- I feel this is where the series sold out. It just became too easy, and I think this is more where the series became more about graphics than good game. That, and I kinda prefer a 4 person party to a 3 person one...
12- There was potential here. But I like controlling my characters. And the gambit system pissed me off. Having just a bit of programming experience, it was too dumbed down for me, and then having to find the clauses instead of just being able to use them?
10-2- There was a bit of exploration again, but it really was too easy, and felt too much like dress-me-up Final Fantasy. And the story was vapid; I can't remember anything from it.
10- Or, as I call it, FF-run-in-a-straight-line-1. I tried starting this game multiple times. But, I don't like the characters, the lack of exploration in the dungeons, the battle system, and if that wasn't enough, Blitzball just plain sucked.
8- This is the one that made me decide I don't want to beat every FF anymore. I was just utterly bored by this game, nor did I like any of the game mechanics. Draw was just tedium, tying enemy levels to the party would work it if weren't based on the person you can't remove, and the card game was meh. It's above 13, though, for at least trying some new things, even if none of them worked.
13- And this is Line 2. Except now... where is the overworld? Towns are just also on a linear path? I... really can't say anything good about this game; it's why I haven't played 13-2 or 15...

i feel like ive done this so many times lol. main series, so no tactics etc. i think the most drastic difference to previous rankings is id probably put 15 a lot lower than i would have a year or two ago reflecting back. not long after finishing i ranked it in the top 5, i dont think i would now. i like 15 fine, but dont think i can put it oever any of the classics now. i dont hate 10-2 at all, its pretty fun to play, and playing it back then, it was really special seeing everyone again, 10 is my #4 game of all time and my favorite battle system of the series. so getting back into spira was amazing. i definitely dont hate 13 either, though there are a lot of changes i would have made, id have preferred it be more like 10 in many ways.

Tokyo RPG Club. What healhty snacks for lazy people do you like? I'm lazy when it comes to cooking. So I like having options that are quick and healthy.

Low fat Greek Yogurt with 2 teaspoons of chia seeds
Wheat Bread toasted with a thin layer of peanut butter with a banana.

This isn't something that will fill you up but I also add 4 oz of Aloe Vera Juice to water for my acid reflux. But it also has vitamins and minerals in it.

And I just started trying this Kyo-Green powder that has barley grass, wheat grass, brown rice, chlorella, kelp, etc. . to mix with water or juice.

Don't necessarily agree, but I'm not mad at these rankings at all. 15 rules!

15 isnt bad, its probably better with all the updates and stuff. the now cancelled dawn of the future DLC was supposed to do a "true ending" of sorts but is being released in book form at least. i didnt dislike the game, and its probably a very different game now with all the improvements and add ons, perhaps i'll play again one day.

bow of the clever + overwhelm... completely broken, remember that or ask again when you play lol, speeds things up, much like the early golden axe in octopath, not really exploiting, just using something thats in the game to its fullest.

15 is way better now. Way better than launch. I play it all the time still and there's STILL crap to do. I have 2 more of the 6 secret dungeons left but theyre time consuming, not hard. One is 6 to 8 hours long with no saves and the other is 3 or 4 hours but you can't use items.

Just don't find that kind of time.

13 series is weird because 13 would be way at the bottom of the list, just before 8, 14, and 1, but 13-2 is techno pokemon and it rules and Lightning Returns is like Valkyrie profile future edition and is also sweet. 13-2 is the best though. I feel like overall, I enjoyed the series as a collective and the story is wicked good if you can get past 13-1.

I am also playing Chrono Trigger on my Super NT. How is everyone's RPG time coming? I am over 20 hours into FFXII and still enjoying it. I need to go and finish up Chrono Trigger I just finished Magnus' castle so I am not sure how much I have left.

im all about the JiF peanut butter, but can throw down some reeses or peter pan when i need to. natural pb doesnt taste the same but im sure its healthier.

im kind of on an rpg break, i did fire up chrono trigger on steam and mess with it a minute, but ive been using my free time to catch up on game of thrones lately, im only in season 3. i did play some days gone saturday, its not horrible, im trying to fit that in too so my brother can play it when im done. i might just let him play it then go back if he is ready to put more time in it, it will be a couple weeks before i have a lot of tiem

Peter Pan is better than Jif imo. Reeses is a good candy but not something I would put on bread.

https://gematsu.com/2019/05/granblue-fantasy-relin...

not much but a little info on Granblue, key info i thought was this......

While Platinum Games left the project earlier in 2019, the bulk of what it built remains, including the level layout, character animation, and fighting systems.

Each character has their own fighting style and is tied to a certain weapon or weapon type.

The game progresses in a mostly linear fashion, but there will be additional activities. "You can pick up side-quests from the towns you visit along the way, and come and go between them as you please," according to director Tetsuya Fukuhara.
Towns also act as lobbies where you can team up with other players online and take on missions. (You can also play solo, with the rest of the four-person party being AI-controlled.)

Since I have been back to work I have been busy. I haven't played more FFXII. I want to finish it and Chrono Trigger. I also want to start a Cosmic Star Heroine.
