Can't wait for Arise. I think it's now my most anticipated JRPG of 2021. That gameplay showcase they had a few weeks ago really got me hyped.

Apparently some people are mad that Arise removed the "multiplayer". Like, who has a friend that has the time to co op a 40+ hour RPG?

Me either, another good PS5 game to look forward to this year. So far I think RE8, Ratchet, and Arise.

Ever since Dark Souls, they have favored Spring releases. With most all their games coming out in March. So I would expect a March release date for this as well.

I finally have a completion to report since finding this thread.

I finished Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light for the DS earlier today. It's a slow, simple, grindy RPG that has absolutely nothing to do with the Final Fantasy franchise, loves putting you and your party in unfair situations, and makes use of a lot of old school gaming tropes (and sound effects, for some reason) in less-than-charming fashion. I put my usual "R2K Dumps His Brain" post in the "Can you beat?" thread: https://gametz.com/?A=Forum&area=VideoGame_Discuss...

I'm still playing through Final Fantasy XII. I'm further along in the story than I ever been in my multiple failed playthroughs, but I think I still have a ways to go, especially when you consider all the Hunts I have in my queue.

If you really love to grind or really miss old-school RPG sensibilities, I can see why you'd enjoy this. The mid-game was actually pretty enjoyable, once you get past the sluggish first act and before you realize how screwed up endgame progression works. The biggest turn-off for me were all the mechanics and design decisions that were clearly there just to waste your time. The limited inventory space is the biggest one, and the balancing act of farming for gems is another.

This isn't an MMO, and they're not collecting a monthly fee. Wasting 20 minutes to run back to town and exchange my gear for a different elemental affinity doesn't make Square any more money, but if I only have 25 minutes to play, it sure makes me feel like I didn't accomplish anything.

The Steam versions are completely different from the ones they worked with. I honestly went to the high seas for it, but will buy the Steam versions when they're released to support Falcom. I really don't want to mess with buying off a foreign site. They do more than just translation, modding for faster speeds, fixing bugs that were still present and adding controller support for all sorts of controllers. It's way more than just translation, but I'm sure you know that.

Dragon quest 3 remake with octopath traveler graphic style engine and gameplay... makes perfect sense if you got the true ending to 11...... O.o.

A spin off starting Erik and Mia from 11.... a DQ monsters style game but the monsters name is dropped.. stars them in their younger years...their back story sounded pretty interesting in dq11

You don't really play Trails for the combat. It is good but they're basically visual novels with actual RPG elements as well. However the end of CS2 has some bullcrap after that one part. What a useless epilogue segment that adds nothing to the story.

More than competent, imo. One of the best modern turn-based systems out there.

Interesting. I'll download it later today and check it out.

I actually quite enjoyed Weeb Souls. It's obviously no SoulsBorne, but it's one of the few decent clones on the market.

PC / Windows The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Azure ----- A lot of Trails fans hype this one up as their favorite and shockingly it did not disappoint. The story is on point. This takes place simultaneous to Cold Steel 1/2 and playing it after those didn't really detract as in CS1/2 you see what's happening in Crossbell, but don't really know WHY it's happening. Zero is a setup game and Azure explains all those WTF moments you see in CS1/2.

It is a pretty good release. Runs fine, visuals are nice, and new Voice Acting. The only thing they should have fixed was the 4:3 cut scenes. I would have also liked some kind of inside cover art. It would have been fine at 29.99. I am loving the game though. I played through 4 last year and it is nice to see how 4 expanded on some of the things in 3.

Alright E3 is next weekend right... predictions...what are we gonna see?

First what I think we dont see.. ff7r chapter 2. I'm thinking latter part of next year for that...and I think squeenix will want to show lots of other things. FF16 possibly their headliner.

My guesses...
I was going to guess smt5 but I don't think that's a guess anymore after the official site leak so figure it's in.

Stanfield (not a jrpg i know)

Hopefully something on an English release of Hajimari no Kiseki unless this is already a thing and I've missed it or am forgetting it.

New fire emblem. Either a remake of FE4, (please intelligent systems) or 9, if 4 I'm guessing it's called Shadows of Jugdral (or Shadows of The Holy War ..but keeping with fe15 naming conventions it was named for the land) or if fe9 Shadows of Tellius. (Or they could go Shadows of radiance leaving fe10 remake to be Shadows of dawn)

Other stuff we know about like tales of arise etc etc of course. Was more thinking stuff that will either be reveals or lots of new/previously unknown stuff about things we don't know much about like ff16

I'd be down for Mario + Rabbids 2. The first is the only Mario I've played on Switch.

Isn't Triangle Stragetgy AND DQ3 remake BOTH HD 2D/3D games? I doubt we will see another one. Anyway I am HYPED as usual for E3. But I don't do predictions any more, I am just along for the ride baby!

Instead I will just name my one, SEMI realistic hope. A brand new Mario Kart that requires Switch Pro!!

Nocturne is $10 off on Amazon already. Still not low enough for me.

29.99 is about right but if you are itching for a SMT game I recommend it. I am loving it so far. I got my ass kicked my Matador 3 times before I figured out a good team to beat him.
