I mean I agree they pretty much just ported the PS2 game. raised the resolution. And added a thing where you can chose which skill to replace. But also it's an incredible game and I love being able to own it physically and legit play a physical portable version. I've always made allowances for that, you guys know that.

Nothing special was done AFAIK. Read stuff about audio being messed up or something. Also, charging for content that was included the first time. The Dante DLC I get charging for cause I'm sure there's license issues and what not.

They did more for this port than the Persona 4 Golden Port which was 20.00 so 30 is about right IMO. The audio is fine FYI.

I'll eventually probably get it, but will be stingy and wait for $20. I still have a ton of unplayed Switch games like Breaking of the Weapons, Xenoblade DE and PS4 stuff as well.

Got it. I bit because I like the portability and the idea of a lower difficulty option (which I'm hoping lowers the chance of potential demon recruits just scamming you).

Yeah well, that falls into the "more than 30 hours long" then. Even if its fantastic I doubt Ill play them back to back. I did buy the 2nd one because I doubt itll be cheaper than $20 whenever Im ready to play it.

Definitely not gonna be done in 7. Side content ramps up the time by a lot. My final playtime for CS2 was 64, with a guide.

That howlongtobeat time seems really off. Can't imagine anyone getting through CS2 in 48 hours. The final dungeon and all the damn cutscenes and dialogue alone take like 20 hours lol. Pretty sure my final time was somewhere between 80-90 hours. No guide and I did a decent amount of side content.

Finished FFVII remake Intergrade trophies tonight. It's a 9/10 for me mainly because the difficulty of the endgame fights is just right. The shoddy aiming and throwing mechanics ruin the box buster challenges- that's my only gripe besides length. I'm genuinely excited for more of this battle system.

Yeah, theres not a lot going on when youre walking around town and it looks rough. I can understand if the frame dropped a bit during the tower defense levels since theres quite a few monsters plus all party members are fighting at the same time. Definitely poorly optimized.

From what I understand this engine is the same engine they used on the PSP games and what they are trying to make it do it just isn't working anymore for modern hardware. The guys that did the PC port had to do a crap ton of work and they are wizards. The PS5 version runs at 60fps but it has to brute force it. The PS4 version also runs like crap and the Switch version is a port of the PS4 one and so there was never a chance of it running okay.

A video game from 2015 that kinda runs on Switch, a console released after that. ;)

The Switch was weak when it launched. Nintendo uses black magic with their games but none are really technically impressive, but they functionally look okay. Which is fine, I'm just glad I didn't buy the Switch port of Ys IX. I actually had it pre-ordered on Amazon and canceled.

Any time a multiplatform game gets a switch release, I've learned to just wait for reviews. It's not as bad as the Wii days where that version of a game was often a completely different (and GG generally much worse) game farmed out to another developer, or in some cases essentially re-releasing the same game with a different name.

as the new gen presses on and games are designed around the new hardware and solid state drives it will become the norm switch versions will be different or there just wont be switch versions. nintendo is likely not worried about this their sales numbers are great

They definitely need a new switch, as it is a "potato" I will agree. However falcom is very bad at optimizing so they deserve to get the jeers on this one, not Nintendo.

having said that, I bought my copy, already unsealed it, not upset. I had always planned to play it on Switch.

With a few exceptions, switch is still plenty powerful if gameplay is king.

It's just a matter of whether developers are willing to put in the time to make the cuts and adjustments in the right places. It seems like most of them don't because they know it will sell because switch, and if people complain too much they can patch something.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is an example. It's done very well for ubisoft, selling particularly well on switch despite it being clearly the inferior version. And they patched it post launch to improve performance.

I'm still playing through FF7 Remastered on the Switch. It's so cool to have both FF7 and FF8 on a single cart and I love the 3X speed. Although the game is over 20 years old it still plays well and the 3X speed makes the battles fly by. I'm having a lot of fun with it. I won't be playing the Remake FF7 for a long time though since is still so much to be released. Once the whole game is released I definitely will want to play the new one though.

I'd say no, probably CS III. Not a whole lot happens in III until the very end.

There seems to be a lot of divisive opinions on IV though. YMMV, obviously.

But overall I'd say the Sky and Crossbell games are better. I really hate the huge case of CS 1& 2. It bleeds into 3 as well, while technically there are only 5 new characters for 3/4, everyone from 1 and 2 show up and it just feels very bogged down because of it.

I'm not that sick of Rean honestly. My biggest gripe with the series overall is the Harem(unavoidable, I know it's an Anime trope but I try my best to ignore it) and weird/creepy Elise in love with Rean thing. Like, you can totally "romance" her in CS IV and do "love" bonding events with her but it's so creepy I refused to do em. And in some miracle I ever play it again I still won't do them, everybody for the trophies.

Rean is less annoying I suppose in 3/4 cause his faults are really more so exposed in them.

I definitely preferred Estelle as MC as there was no harem there.

Jude does suck, but at least there's Milla and she's pretty solid. How many hours in? How does it compare to Cold Steel 1 for you?

@kommie I've always thought that Elise's crush on Rean was weird, but the fact that you have characters encouraging her is what really creeps me out. Can't believe you can "romance" her in IV. Gross!
