new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

If a seller has obo on eBay and they won't even take a dollar off, what's the point? I feel like this has been brought up here before, but it happened to me again so I wanted to dog. $6 + shipping item and I offered $5 just because I could really.

It's probably that big link at the top right that says "Purchase Plug n Play 2.0"

Lol, yesterday someone was trying to sell a $30 game for $46. Made an offer for $32 and they countered with $45.

I might get the 2DS XL then. I never use the 3D on my 3DS and the 2DS looks way better for travel, which is what I use my 3DS for most anyway.

It's super nice not having to worry so much about scratching the case. That case was made to travel. I didn't travel much with it before letting it loose but that was a system I felt like I could safely sling around without a care.

2DS XL is much lighter, it also feels safe not using a exterior case. The top screen has bezel that look just like a smartphone.

From what I read, specs should be exactly the same minus 3D gimmick of course.

You are also able to neatly tuck away the cartridge slot instead of leaving it exposed if you don't have a cart in.

HUGE bonus, you no longer have to take off the faceplates to put in a micro SD card(who the fudge made the decision to put it UNDER the faceplates?)

Just went through two playthroughs of Super Famicom Final Fight. Can you guys beat it? The bosses are harder than i remembered. They also do alot more damage i feel like.

I feel like this game is so unbalanced compared to Final Fight CD...Mike is almost unplayable given how slow he is.

This item is a good price already I guess. But the case is broken, so what is it REALLY worth? And it's a unique case so I'd have to orphan something else to replace it.

If I hadn't already hacked my N3DS I'd consider selling it and picking up a 2DSXL.

You probably won't have a problem. Between the 3DS systems and Wii U I think I easily did at least 3 system transfers this year, you HAVE to be being bad to get slapped. I bet you'll be fine. And if you have both systems, you can transfer no problem regardless I believe, should only be a week delay in between system transfers.

Nah, it's slightly shorter on both the top and bottom as you can see in Lunar's comparison shot. Screens themselves, display-wise, are identical, but space clipped off at least on the horizontal edges.

That thing probably won't fit.

totally forgot about the amount of digital stuff I have on my 3DS account

Used to be I'll have random amount of eShop credit on the account for random impulse buys but now the Switch shares the eShop, I doubt I'd randomly buy 3DS games anymore

Not having a 3DS, this is sounding like a good option to look into. How much shorter does the battery life seem (I see that's one of the things that people are talking about on other sites)? Also how's the sound (some said this was weaker) & the stylus (looks shorter in some of the comparison picture)?

Haven't tested out the battery life yet but I don't suspect it to be wildly different.
Stylus on the 2DS XL is shorter, though I did notice but I don't think it impacts much.

Lastly the sound, I noticed vibrations coming from the back of the system while holding the system in my hand.
Sound seems louder than 3DS XL. I guess since it's much lighter material, the sound's vibration is noticeable.
I'll just think of it as free rumble feature!

I have brought this up before but the one I pre-ordered (both are called GCVideo) is from another vendor who has yet to get a single unit produced, has poor communication and terrible customer service so yeah, there's that. Anyway, the one you referenced here is 2.0, the first edition's main issue was the stress it put on the digital port of the cube itself. 2.0 has a more durable case but still doesn't feel super secure in the port from the people I've spoken to who have had it in hand.

There also was a video posted last week from a very large gaming youtuber reviewing this thing and sales went through the roof. So much so the seller made a video the same day saying he was doubling production to 12 units a day until he gets caught up again. One guy, building them by hand, if you want one it might make sense to get on the waiting list soon.

This was my first SNES game (besides Mario that came with it). I've played this game so many times I'm sure I could still beat it today. I will admit it took me a few months before I could consistently get past Abigail. I personally always used Haggar and his pile drive.

Yea, I lost all my continues at Abigail. Gonna try the US version and see if they corrected any of the imbalances.
Also to confirm if I just suck.

Earlier this evening I was talking to my son about genre of games he likes and was having trouble coming up with good examples of things for him to try out. So I fired up the database application I wrote to organize my game collection and ran some reports for specific genres to help him out. While I was doing that, I though it might be fun to build a few new stats into the system that would give some insight about my collection. It was pretty neat and somewhat surprising when I looked over the results, figured I'd share them for here...

Breakdown of Completeness

I haven't played Under Night In-Birth so I don't know about it's characters but I'm very excited about the other series and can't wait to see what characters they will choose from each. Most interested in the RWBY characters. I love crossovers especially fighters. grin

I wonder what my percentage is..I think it's less than 20%. Making a conscious effort to play more rather than just keep collecting.

These are some interesting statistics for sure.

@Wchillinman Fighter is the one genre where crossovers really work imo.

@Lunar I'm suspicious. I wonder if it will be paid for.

I'm very sure I have the most games in my library for PS2 and Dreamcast. PS3 and 360 are up there, my TZ listing for those two systems is woefully out of date.

That's with dumping a lot of my higher valued US DC titles too. I'm also 100% burned discs on DC shooters now I believe. Also there are some Dreamcast games I'm looking for. Mostly puzzle games.

Assume that I have everything common, except for Bust a Move 4 for some reason. I think I even have US and EU Chu Chu Rocket. Chu Chu is alright, but I wouldn't put it in the top 5 DC puzzle games tbh.

Mr. Driller is amazing, probably the best one.

Some I would like to get divided by group.

Impossible Japanese Rares
Cleopatra Fortune (I know this is like $1 on US PS1, I have that version, and hate looking at the cover)
Puyo Puyo Fever

Japan only but not terribly priced
Plus Plum
Hanagumi Taisen Columns 2
Get!! Colonies

I know I'm gonna just have to eBay this crap.

Those 5 systems account for more than half my entire game collection. I was actually shocked I have that many DS games.

My collection lists are quite a bit out of date here too, something like 300 games short.

Yeah I have over 500 games on GOG. NOT THINKING ABOUT IT.

For the anime fans here, I have the BD set of Gurren Lagann coming so I no longer need my dvds. It's the legends release so it's in a nice single size dvd case with trays.

I'm not too big on Puzzlers. Feels like you play one you've played them all. They're all Tetris clones. #ignantisbliss #generalization

Seriously though, I've only played the more popular ones like Super Puzzle Fighter, Columns, Puyo Puyo...and some random but still fun Baku Baku anyone?

Speaking of Puyo Puyo, hows the new Nintendo Switch game?

It is. I hope I can move it here. I'll sell it cheap or trade for another anime set.

Oh and I'm not insane, I didn't pre-order the upcoming US set. I got an AU set cheap.

Only downside to this AU set is that it's a digipak case, but I'll live considering the price difference.

So I tried the US version of Final Fight. Not much was changed in terms of the power imbalance, all blood was taken out though. Samurai sword and daggers used to be so satisfying, but now you just hear a thud.

So I guess the proper way to beat the 2nd level boss(dual wielding samurai) is to jump around like an idiot until he finishes his bum rush and for Abigail, keep using your special?

Tetris is Tetris. Puyo Puyo isn't Tetris and I don't get it, Columns isn't Tetris and I don't get it, Wario's Woods isn't Tetris and I don't get it. So many puzzle games I'm awful at.

Tetris Attack isn't Tetris, but I get that one.

Try Mr. Driller. Sure it's falling blocks, but it has the added elements of trying to keep your guy alive (don't get squished, and make sure you have enough air). And yes there are a lot of falling block games. Puzzle Bobble (bust a move lol) 3/4 are fantastically fun to play with friends.

You gotta be able to process things quickly mentally and well, practice/playing a lot. When I was playing a loooooooooot of Puyo Fever I was getting really good at it. I'm sure I'd suck bawlz now until I got back in the groove.

i really loved gwent in the witcher 3, depending on the deck you were playing it was all about planning a move or two ahead and anticipating the opponent, never played much MTG, always seemed like a money sink and there wouldnt have been a lot of places to play around me.

Just keep creating groups of 4 with an off-color piece in between. Anything that doesn't fit into that plan, ditch on the other side of the screen. That strategy is good enough to beat pretty much any of the AI in the ones I've played.

I'm not a huge constructed guy. Only reason i play a specific format is because its the season. Im typically a limited guy, which doesn't require much money to play at all.

I used to play Legacy Lands. With the current buyouts and shady behavior, I can hardly imagine trying to buy The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale now. Karakas used to be brutal but wizards finally reprinted it, and I was never one to care about paying a premium for what version/artwork of a card I was playing. Actually I just looked and it looks like there are now 2x Drop of Honey in the sideboard. Looks like that one was bought out and went from $75 to $1000 in about a MONTH.

Standard is obviously cheaper, but definitely not for anyone w/o financial security.

Tabernacle is $1k? Omg. I'm having serious conflicted feelings. I sold off most of my Legacy stuff for video games but I'm thinking MTG has appreciated more than NES at this point. Drop of Honey is $750?? I should've been in on these shady buyouts Jesus Christ.

It's no contest, MTG actually appreciates (in some cases. Wildly not in most), classic gaming overall has depreciated slightly over time for the GOOD titles that didn't just hit trash prices. What they're worth now isn't a fraction of what they retailed at, in about 99.9% of cases.

Basically anything not on the reserve list, Wizards has shown they will reprint it. Hallelujah. Check other reserved list prices tho, like Moat. :)
