Thread Description Wow, can't believe it's been more than a year since we started RTT. I feel like we have become a community of our own within GameTZ. We have our regulars and even some new comers. I hope 2018 brings us more like-minded retro gamers who will come here for a place of retro inspiration. When I started Retro Trade Thead (RTT), it was called "The Retro Trading Thread", kinda like how FB was "The Facebook", heh, I was just hoping for a group of retro gamers who share the passion and the thrill of collecting and playing Retro games. The result so far has exceeded my expectations and more. I am playing more retro games than ever and while my collecting is on and off, I know I have been enjoying more retro gaming in 2017 than my previous 5 years combined. I hope RTT members have similar experiences. 2018 will be an even better year, as we have established group events like RTT Secret Santa and our monthly Game of the Month, which is getting more popular as more people participate. I am hoping to bring RTT Podcast in 2018 where 2-3 RTT members will talk about monthly topics and other aspects of retro collecting.
Retro game buying and selling, collecting, playing, collectarding, upscaling, speedrunning....whatever your retro passion is, RTT will have a place for you and for everyone who participates in our discussions, whether occasionally or frequently, will continue to find value and fun in our thread.
Thank you for participating and making RTT the hottest topic every month in 2017!
Old Topic Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.
We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates. There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room. I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them. There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is . I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).
No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Retro Posters/Ads/Brochures - I love looking through these.
Keep in mind, swapping signed game parts is a great way to throw out any value it might have, as someone interested in this would likely want it the way it was, even if it's a little rough.
If I found worth in it as a signed game I'd probably just put it in a protective case and call it good, or just play it. Not sure trying to make it prettier's the way to go, as it'll be pretty obvious that it's not the same package it was.
I have been ripping my Wii and GC games using USB Loader GX to my new Wii. I feel like I am missing something. I can get all my Wii games to work but my GC games won't start up. I am going to try and redownload Nintendont tonight and see if that fixes it. USB Loader GX has a really slick interface.
It's probably how you have your file structure set up on your hard drive or USB stick. Older versions of USB loader gx could only read wii file system format. Newer versions should be able to read fat32. PM me if you want.
> Apparently they made Bomberman 64 and Trap Gunner which I thought were developed

Yeah, I found out they developed Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land (AMAZING GAME BTW) and decided to look into the rest of their work. They apparently co-developed ASH with Mistwalker too. What a great company no one has heard of.

It's one of the few N64 games I actually enjoyed later. N64 was the first system I actually owned as a kid, and had like 30 CIB games for. I don't feel compelled to have an N64 collection for nostalgia now, obviously.
>> I have never once pulled off a 1080 in 1080. Maybe if my adult brain went back
>> it. The controls in that game were wack,
> I never really played 1080 if at all. But I've pulled off larger spins in Tony Hawk
> and Amped oh and Surfs Up. I love those surfing Penguins 😉
Yeah, in 1080 it's kind of like a combo system where you can to hold down more buttons as you continue rotating the stick. If you just rotate the stick twice you do two 360s, but it doesn't count as a 720. It's weird. Also penguins, can't you surf on a penguin in 1080? I think that's the best board you can get.
>> I've never been big into snowboarding games but 1080 is awesome.
> 1080 was good , but Snowboard Kids 1/2 is where its at.
Really after SSX 3, the snowboarding genre died. I mean no one seems to care enough to make an awesome snowboarding game with awesome physics. Snow boarding down a mountain doesn't count. Where are the man made trick tracks, or the amazing locals of 1080 or SSX?
SSX Tricky and SSX3 are still my all time fave snowboarding games, the SSX reboot on ps360 changed the formula too much, the courses were interesting but the gear/wingsuit ruined it for me. I haven't tried any of the more simmy snowboarding games.
I did not 100% it. This game was very frustrating for all the wrong reasons. I found several levels just plain painful to do simple things like jump. The levels in the clouds where particularly painful.
Several levels you must get all boxes without dieing for a gem. I could barley get through them with the continues so I just focuses on completing the game.
He and Haanit are def your beasts. She can one shot the end game bosses with proper skills. Some of the hunter skills she gets grant a lot of free attacks and they trigger a LOT for it to only be a 25% chance to trigger.
> Speaking of. Does anyone actually have an arcade cabinet in their house? A mame
> machine? An arcade1up? A mame machine is something I'd eventually like to have.
I have a MAME cabinet that I only ever turn on when I hear about some cool game I've never heard of. I had a bunch of 90s arcade games that I got rid of because 90s arcade games have no replay value and I was dumb for ever buying them.
yes the axe is totally worth it, that time will be made up in how quick you can fight now.
ya octo is really good, but after 100+ hours of both DQ is def better, but it def makes it easier to wait when you have something else stellar to play, you aren't losing with either game. I was definitely into both of them very much. DQ11 is gonna be my rpg of the year though, I cant imagine Valkyria 4 topping it as good as im sure its going to be, that is whats next i'll be starting that one tomorrow night or Saturday. what a time for rpgs over the last couple of years. this resurgence is heaven
They are and I'm loving it. NNK2 was pretty alright too..not octopath or dq but pretty solid. Last year with nier, persona, Tokyo Xanadu.. trails is coming to PS4. Granblue fantasy has been said to be coming west.. it's like the ps1/ps2 golden age all over again but without the slow ploddyness of those lol.

> I'm playing NNKII now and it's alright, not great but decent. What keeps me going

Ya that's what kept me in it. It's no octopath and certainly no dq but it's not at all terrible. I did like the kingdom building as well. Would have been a lot more generic without that. Makes me want a new suikoden pretty bad on current consoles it would be crazy
> I was going to.. I've been hearing they will do the next Ys before they finish cold
> steel but we'll see I guess.
I mean, is Ys IX gonna be great? Idk. I had a lot of complaints with VIII. Needs less stupid crap, needs less MoC/VII, more Oath in Felghana. I'm much more excited to play DQ XI when it hits Switch and Cold Steel 2.
> Im refraining from partaking in these JRPG discussions, I'm afraid my enthus...::yawn::...iasm
> will seep through my excitement.
I can't believe how hard Octopath has pulled me in. I very well might not clear RE2.
yeah when I say I like Dragon Quest more and that it's definitely my RPG of the year that is not to take anything away from octopath. It's very good and just feels good to play. Dragon Quest is just such a great melding of the classic with new ideas that make it feel so good, the characters are great and the story take some great turns and that true ending... Wow
