Description

Chrono Cross is a game that lets you travel through guess what....that's right....TIME. But in this go round, it does not really use time in order to do most of the adventuring. You are pretty much going to be going from one world to the other, so it's really just two worlds, unlike Chrono Trigger where you can travel from 2000 AD all the way back to 1400 BC. However, this is a very good RPG and I highly recommend it. I should also point out that I don't feel like this was a true Chrono game. I mean, FROG was not in it. angry However, they did have a guy by the name of Gleen in it, but still. angry Also, just two worlds to visit....I mean, come on now. angry Anyway, if you are thinking about trading for this game, then by all means take it if you have never played it, although I don't see any reason why someone would have not played this game by now. And if you have played this game and just want it back, heh, you've got my vote. You can't go wrong with it as it's one of the best RPGs out there on the Sony PlayStation, on par with Final Fantasy if you ask me.

Story:
You play as a boy named Serge who meets up with his childhood friend Leena on the beach. Suddenly, a voice calls out to him and Serge passes out. When he awakens, he discovers that things are no longer the same. The people from his village treat Serge as a total stranger and he discovers that both he and his mother are long dead....he's in some kind of parallel world. This is pretty much where the story kicks off and going back and forth through time soon comes into play. Also, you start to learn magic spells and new moves and such. The story is nice, but nothing great. But the plot is the standard "you have to save the world, ONCE AGAIN, from a evil force." So as far as the story goes, I give it a 7/10.

Music:
Very good music, I liked it a lot. I remembered some of the tunes from Chrono Trigger, but some of the new ones could have just been left out. I mean, they suck. I do however wish that they would have remixed more of the older music. I don't know, maybe it's just me, or maybe it's just cause I'm used to the old music. wry smile, People these days don't seem to care that much for video game music any more, The older Chrono music was great, but this time around...wry smile You may run into 6 or 7 tunes that will make you put down the controller for a little while just to hear the great sounds. That is CHRONO CROSS. So as far the soundgoes, I give it a 7/10.

Control:
No problems here. Square did everything just right and you should have no problem finding a button to press in order to get your character to do what you want it to do. Everything works out just fine. I think that this control set up should be used more often in all RPGs. It's just so easy to use and get used too. An Action button, a Cancel button, and all the other buttons that perform all the magic are placed just right. In other words, you won't be hitting the Cancel button in order to attack and vice versa. As a matter of fact, the controls should be like playing Go Fish to you in about five minutes, that's just how easy it is to learn. I give the controls a 10/10. Good job once again, Square!!!

Look of the game:
Well, compared to today's games, it may look limited, but I like that old school look. It was great for its time and it still does look good compared to some today. Good job again, Square. I just hope that somehow Square hooks back up with the Chrono team, because I read on www.rpgamer.com that they had broken up. frown It would really be a shame if no more Chrono games get released. I give this a 9/10.

Overall:
Let me just say it once more -- I love this game. It is very good, but again, let me point out that, to me, it just does not feel like a normal Chrono game. frown But then again, thats just MY FEELING, you may have another.
