Description

Logitech DriveFX Axial Feedback Wheel for Xbox 360, at a price tag of only $40 - 80 is definitely a nice buy for any serious Xbox 360 racer fan. The wheel comes nicely packaged in plastic covers. It includes; pedals, wheel, force feedback. First thing I noticed when I took the wheel out was that the pedals are fairly light and the wheel is sort of heavy. The wheel has a nice rubber grip with convenient paddle shifters. The wheel has the Xbox 360 guide button, directional pad, A,B,X,Y buttons. RB and LB and paddles as triggers. The wheel also clamps down through C clamps and provides a sturdy hold. The pedals do tend to slide a little bit on carpet, and slide a lot on hard wood floors.

The first game I tried this wheel on was Forza Motorsport 2. The wheel was a little bit harder to get used to than the Xbox 360 controller, but after a few minutes and crashes later I was seeing faster lap times. On top of better lap times, it was 100% times more realistic. The wheel made it feel as if I was in the game and racing. Also a nice feature was the sensitivity button located right on the wheel. It provided a slow and fast sensitivity for either quicker or slower response to the wheel. This wheel is compatible with just about every racing game there is. I have tried Need For Speed : ProStreet and Project Gotham Racing 3 and 4 and they all work wonderfully with the wheel, although the motorcycles in PGR 4 handled a bit odd. This wheel's axial feedback is done through an adapter, that plugs into the wall. The feedback is what made this wheel such a great buy. It accents every rock, bump and crash as if it were really happening.

There was one downside and that was that the wheel had no H-Gate shifter. This can be a pro or con for some, seeing as some prefer the paddle shifters over H-Gate. Other than that there were no real major problems only a few minor ones, like the pedal sliding. Overall this wheel is a great buy. I would give the wheel a 8.5 / 10. This wheel can be bought at many electronic stores, the lowest price I found was at Circuit City for $39.99!
