Description

Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.

I remember seeing an episode on Cartoon Network and I was blown away. I was always wanting to see more, so I rented this DVD, "Best Sessions". It includes 6 of the best episodes of everyone's favorite space cowboys: Spike, Faye, Edward, Jet, and even the lovable Ein. The biggest beef I have with this collection though, is that it's sorta pointless. The plots and storylines of each episode are fairly intertwined with that of the others. It's not meant to just skip around like this. I mean, for newbies like myself, you'd think that they would at least brief us as to how Edward came to be, how they got Ein, etc.

The episode selection is only great if you know a bit of background about the series, unlike myself. I'd recommend just seeing the entire series if you want the full effect -- "Cowboy Bebop: The Perfect Sessions". Oh, and one more thing, be careful if you do buy "The Perfect Sessions", because there's a ton of bootlegged copies out there. Make sure to get the 6-disc set rather than the fake 3-disc set. You should be able to use your intuition to figure out that $35 for 26 episodes of Cowboy Bebop is a bit fishy.

Also, please note, that I'm not rating the show, I'm rating the compilation itself. If this were the "Perfect Sessions", or a DVD from the TV series, it would have definitely got an A+, and I really loved the episodes on here, it just left out a lot of stuff in between, which sucks for newbies to the series like me. I had no idea how the heck Ein and Edward just all of a sudden "appeared". Again, I'd recommend skipping this and just going to the Perfect Sessions.

This DVD includes some excellent episodes, but this show can't be summed up in a greatest hits kind of DVD, you really need to see the entire series to make sense of what's going on. Even though they're sort of like a different movie in each episode, the character's develop throughout, and you'll miss out on a ton just watching this.
