Description

Massoud (Ben Kingsley) was an elite member of Iran's society. In the United States, he's a construction worker and a convenience store clerk desperately trying to maintain his former style of life. However, that proves impossible. Bills are mounting and his two jobs are not enough to support his posh apartment and his family's needs.

An opportunity in the form of a county-impounded house arrives, almost as if from heaven. Massoud can purchase the property and sell it for four times as much, solving his financial woes. Little does he know that Kathy (Jennifer Connelly), the previous owner who lost the house through a bureaucratic mistake and her own negligence, will do anything in her power to get the house back.

An interesting social study. A clash of two cultures and even more so, different classes. Gets a little out of hand in the second half, losing some of its credibility. Nevertheless, a good film.

Starring Jennifer Connelly, Ben Kingsley, Ron Eldard, Shohreh Aghashloo and Kim Dickens.
Directed by Vadim Perelman.
