Description

If you're like me, then you have been playing Tomb Raider games for years. In those games, there has always been a good variety of weapons and smart NPCs (non-playing characters) to go along with vast levels that contain very challenging obstacles. This new title, Tomb Raider: Legend, falls under par on the Tomb Raider fun scale. It lacks almost everything that Lara Croft once had.

Gameplay
-----------------------------
Tomb Raider: Legend brings a new style of gameplay to the series. There's no more running around trying to find new weapons and ammo, and no more trying to locate hidden dragons and keys. The NPCs are dull and lifeless as well. On any difficulty, they just stand still and shoot at you with basically the same weapons. Increasing the difficulty only makes their bullets inflict more damage on Lara, and their accuracy slightly changes.

The game itself just drags. There is always a straight path to the end of each level, which makes the "wow factor" go down tremendously. Yet, through the use of Hi-Def videos that occur quite frequently during gameplay, Tomb Raider is given something that it has never had: a marvelous storyline.

Graphics
-----------------------------
If you have an HDTV, you'll fall in love with this game's graphics. If you have a regular TV, then the graphics are, honestly, just a bit above Xbox graphics. The in-game videos are what make this title a hit though - you have to see to believe! Lara is almost always in a suit that appeals to almost every man; short shirts to large you know whats popping out all the time, I believe the designers played a key role on focusing on her boobs this time around, I guess it gives the game a bit of a kick.

Learning Curve
-----------------------------
To be frank, you have to be quite adventurous. You'll need to always be aware of your surroundings, and at times think very quickly, so learning to adapt may take time. Lara has changed as well. Her new grab and go style, as I like to call it, mainly because throughout the game, you have to pick up different artifacts, and different clues, then immediately be on your way. So apart from the previous Tomb Raider, Lara is different character which takes some time adjusting to, and learning to adapt to her new abilities may be a challenge.

Replay Value
-----------------------------
I would honestly say that if you're looking for some easy achievement points, then you'll replay the game to beat it on each difficulty. But someone who is looking to play the game for fun, action and the thrill of adventure, like myself, you probably won't replay it because it felt too slow paced, with an elementary style. And like I said before, the game does tend to drag.

Whether or not you have been playing the Tomb Raider series for years, or this is your first time, acquiring Tomb Raider: Legend is a must. It has its ups and downs, but can still create fun for you and your family.
