Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne is the sequel/expansion to Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. This game includes upgraded weapons, one new hero for all four races and brand-new neutral heroes. This expansion doesn't disappoint...
Graphics The graphics are very well presented. Most of your Starcraft/Command and Conquer type games can be very pixelated and look somewhat distorted. This game has smooth graphics with incredible transition sequences through campaign mode. It's worth buying the game just to watch the Full Motion Video sequences, which are amazing. I run this game with a GeForce 6600 GT 256 DDR and the smoothness of the colors and textures is outstanding. During a battle scene, you can zoom in using your mouse wheel, and it gives you the effect that you are in the middle of battle, without losing any texture or quality. I gave this game an A+ in the graphics department simply because this game opened a new world in PC RPG's.
Sounds Think Star Wars, but instead of droids you have Orcs. The soundtrack is off the charts. It kind of makes you think John Williams may have had something to do with the music selection. FYI: John Williams composed themes to Jaws, Jurassic Park, Forrest Gump, Idiana Jones, Star Wars....anyway I digress. The music during the campaign mode is very well pieced together. It's strictly done by an orchestra. The sound effects are decent during the battle scenes. Anywhere from lightning strikes to blizzards, they managed to make it as real as possible without overdoing it.
Gameplay You thought Street Fighter gave you hand cramps and blisters. I have a permanent blister on my wrist from playing this game: I can't pull myself away. I can play this game for hours at a time and not get bored. Try your luck at the campaign mode where you go level to level following the story for each race, leveling your hero at the same time. Or give a shot at online play. You have 1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3 and 4-on-4. You can do arranged team and play with your buddies against different people from around the world. Or choose to go Random Team and get paired up with other people in the world. Everytime you win you gain experience and increase in levels. Battle.net keeps track of your score online. They have every statistic you can think of from how much gold you have mined to how many heroes you have killed. The online statistics are the reason you play. You also earn icons as you win online games. 25 wins gets you an icon, 150 wins gets you a better icon and so on.
The great thing about this game is every game/match you play is always different. Different strategies, weapons, heroes. There are millions of combinations you can use for strats with the different races.
Replay Value Hmm, take a look here. Let my profile speak for itself. http://www.battle.net/war3/ladder/w3xp-player-prof... I have played over 2,000 games online and I am currently on my second account name. At no point can you become bored with this game. The strategy combinations, sound effects, gameplay and online statistics cant keep you away.
Conclusion If you are honestly looking for the PC game that can give you everything, this is the game that can do it. Hours upon hours of fun bundled up in one box. No RPG can stand up to this game and continue to give you that satisfaction, without having to pay monthly fees.
And on another note might I suggest that you just buy the Battle Chest edition and get more bang for your buck.
