Would that work with Animal Crossing New Horizons? That's the only game I've double dipped on.

No because the save file stays with the console.

Took kids to see Mario, was pretty good. A lot of references as expected. Pacing was a little off, they def tried to cram in as much as possible. Good enough that I’m looking forward to the sequel

Can you both play the game at the same time though? I thought only one could play at a time.

Because Nintendo announced it would be a limited release and that it would be pulled once that time ended.

A dumb move? Yes. But also dumb

Silly... Thankfully I have a physical, but would like to get digital for my kid. Read that codes still redeem, but can't find any, sans buying shady accounts from sketchy websites.

I don't know where else to post this, but the game is on Switch via the NSO Genesis app. Anyhow... I really want a sequel to Comix Zone. It's ridiculously unforgiving but I finally beat it a while back using save states (no shame), and I found out how short it actually is. When I beat it, I found myself really wanting more. I looked up if there was any sequel, and it doesn't seem like there was ever even talk of a sequel. There was an unrelated game called Unbound Saga that has a similar "move through comic panels" gimmick, but it looks sorta rough and reviews are pretty awful.

I'm surprised there aren't even any fan games or romhacks to make a new adventure out there. Looks like Comix Zone is just going to be an anomaly of 90s gaming, but I really wish someone would reboot the franchise.

^lol yes

Anyhow, I've played through a good chunk of Octopath Traveler II and am still enjoying it for the most part, especially the visuals, music and combat. And to be honest, I do enjoy each character's individual stories when viewed in a vacuum. They're interesting and the characters are cool. There are just two elements of the game that are starting to wear on me a bit:

-I don't know if this changes, or if we truly just focus on each individual character's stories as we find their chapters, but I really do sorta miss the JRPG trope of a LARGER story that connects these characters into one focused objective. Final Fantasy being an obvious example - you still amass a vast cast of unique characters with their own stories and motivations, but ultimately they're all going after the big world-ending threat. While I do somewhat appreciate the lack of the cliche that comes with said "world-ending threat", it does make the individual stories seem a little less important and makes each one seem inherently small in the grand scheme of things.

Each story is only important to one character at a time, and the other characters are just there for the ride. Again, I don't know if any larger event arises later in the game, but it hasn't been introduced in my play-through yet so I assume it doesn't. I'd really like an Octopath Traveler III to keep these smaller, character-driven stories, but also play around with adding some overarching narrative thread that connects each character's story into one big story as an endgame scenario or something.

-And the my other small hiccup sort of piggybacks off that last one. I've now played through a decent chunk with my core 4 characters and gotten them up in the mid-20s as far as levels go... so I now find myself sorta dreading any time I stumble near a new character who I've yet to meet. I always feel obligated to play their first chapter when I find them considering that's sorta the whole point of this particular game, but at this point it just feels like replaying the game's tutorial. The first chapter for each character is a very simple portion where you learn the first bit of that character's story, learn what their initial abilities are, and then face a boss to cap it off. So at this point, having played long enough with certain characters, I find myself not wanting to have to pause my play-through to play yet another tutorial section.

And going back to my first issue, any time this "first chapter/tutorial" situation occurs, I find myself thinking "what's the point?" because there's no LARGER story to build toward. It's just the start of another small character-driven arc, so it feels more and more arbitrary to keep starting each character's story.

Sorry for the essay, didn't realize how much I typed lol. TL;DR - I still enjoy the actual gameplay and the core concept of OT2 is still very cool, I just wish there was something more to drive my interest as far as an overall story goes. I am still looking forward to seeing how a few of the characters' stories develop and where they ultimately end up, I just wish they factored into some greater good or larger theme to keep me interested overall.

Did you play Triangle Strategy? That did (to me) what you were saying you’d like to see (have a bunch of individual characters’ stories that fed into a larger storyline). I loved that game.

I just went through the process of requesting a refund from Nintendo. I've heard it isn't something they grant easily, and the game in question was on sale for only $5, so it wouldn't be a big deal if they declined me, but the entire process was really simple and I got my refund in under 3 hours even though the guy said it could take up to 5 days for them to get back to me. I usually dread having to contact customer support of any company, so I'm glad this went as smoothly as it did.

SongPop Party, it's a music trivia game. I'm just gonna stick to the mobile version which I've been playing for over a decade now anyway.

I'm not listening to Charles Martinet for an hour and half straight. Great in games, would be horrible for a movie. Glad he got his cameo though.

Also, all of the voices in the movie you can immediately place but Pratts. I wonder if they did some sort of modulation to his voice due to the feedback.

He was perfectly fine. 90 minutes of "let's a go" and "Wahoo" would'he been unbearable. Of all the main cast, the only one I didn't like was Seth Rogan as DK and, if you count it, Fred Armisan's character.

Like Wreck-It Ralph, there are two ways to watch the Mario movie. You can watch it like any other kids movie and appreciate the animation and in-jokes, or you can treat it like an Easter egg hunt and spend the 90 minutes looking for references and callouts.

If you do the latter, you're going to have an absolute blast. They range from unmissable (what Mario does after dinner) to brilliantly subtle (the book by Mario's bed).

If you do the former, the movie is a hard meh. The animation was gorgeous, the character designs were faithful (even Prattio, I guess), but the screenplay just doesn't do justice to so many characters. Bowser was S-Tier. Toad and Luigi were B- or a generous A-Tier. Every other main character just didn't have enough good dialogue to work with.

The line I kept repeating to myself walking out of the theater was "That was a lot of fun when nobody was talking."

I had an absolute blast with the Easter Eggs and references. I didn't expect much from the plot, and honestly, I couldn't care less about the plot. I loved how they really worked so much from the games and from the world of Nintendo into a 90 minute movie. References to old games like Wrecking Crew, Kid Icarus, and Punchout. References to characters/enemies from every single Mario game. There were references to to every game from Donkey Kong through Mario Odyssey. I loved how they made the 2D levels that we play as "Training Courses" in the Mushroom Kingdom. I loved the ending when Mario had to get up to Bowser's Castle and how they flew through powerups.

Jack Black was great. Every other voice actor was fine except for the two I mentioned (DK and CK). It was a fun movie. Anyone going in expecting anything more substantial than that is going to be very disappointed. People complaining about "not enough Yoshi" or they didn't show X character enough or at all need to relax. There is only so much they can fit in a 90 minute movie, and they will DEFINITELY have sequels.

benq 3550 and elite pro accoustic motorized screen. It's nice, it's 50/50 fabric/pvc. I had a 100% pvc screen and I felt like the new screen absorbed the light even better. It felt like going from a projector throwing an image on a screen, to looking like the screen lit up like a TV. The reason I had to go to sound transparent is so I could have my speakers behind the screen. Because I went from 100" to 125". And at that point I have NO more room under or to the side of the screen. It takes up my whole wall in the L shaped room.

I don't know. I view a spoiler as anything in a movie that I'd rather have not known beforehand. Having seen it for the first time during the movie, I'd have been disappointed had I known about it prior to seeing the movie. Was a nice surprise.

I don't view it as a spoiler. I view deaths, major plot arcs, or twists as spoilers. But I've been reported for the tiniest of stupid things as spoilers around the net. someone probably would have reported you talking about a song as a spoiler elsewhere.

Wow. Thanks for posting that. Not too often they do a bogo on 1st party games like those.

Now's definitely not the right time for me to go for this. With the upcoming Zelda game and me being in middle of other games. It's obviously tempting, but going to have to say no this time. Now if they were to offer a b1g2 on brand new 1st party games, now that's a different story :)

Don't know if I'd be able to resist b1g2.
