I felt the little trick rooms were stupid in 3d land.
The ones where the camera angle was set so that if you were using 3D, you could see thst a platform was out front correctly, but if you were in 2d mode it blended in with the platforms in the background. Like Nintendo going SEE? SEE? THIS INCREDIBLE GAMEPLAY POSSIBLE ON ONE OF THOSE CRAPTY 2D SYSTEMS!
Except those rooms weren't incredible gameplay, they were little gotcha gimmicks for Nintendo to pat themselves on the back about how clever they were.
That to me was the epitome of the 3D experience on 3DS. Little "that was kind of a neat effect" moments followed immediately by turning the 3D slider off again because the games played better without it.
There's a reason so many late games simply left the 3D aspect out entirely. 99% of the time it didn't really affect gameplay, and of the few times it did, it almost always felt like a cheap gimmick.
For the record, I like 3D land a lot. Just not the 3D gimmick.
