Surprised we don't have anything going on this topic. See if it goes anywhere, but I came here to ask for support on the Oculus/Quest.

Family got me a Quest 2 for my bday. I've been holding out for the next release and/or PSVR2, but eh, I'll take it!

Suggestions for best games to play on it?

I picked up a few accessories too:
- Strap with Battery and Carrying Case - https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...
- Fat Sweaty Man Visor - https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...

Any others I should be looking at?

Thanks!

There’s also Airlink, so you don’t need a cord technically, you just may want to use one depending on performance (afaik)

I haven't gone back after an initial failed attempt, but my airlink would not work. I have a fantastic home network and I couldn't acclomopish anything at all.

Got my cable and just wow, Half-Life Alyx is amazing. I'm afraid of playing for long stretches with my computer running as hard as it does, but wow.

I got Lucky's Tale on sale a bit ago and finally played a few levels. It's super simple and very, very, very easy but it's absolutely gorgeous and really charming. It's really relaxing to play and has been a nice pallet cleanser between other games. I really like VR platformers and this is quality, even if there's no real challenge.

@Porksta - I finally moved stuff over into that backpack bag I listed earlier. Definitely more roomy than the others, gives you options for additional accessories. Worth it.

Looks like the cost of each headset will be going up $100, so you only have a few more days if you are on the fence!

Looks like just a price hike on 8/1. Weird.

Edit: Price increase of $100 + you get Beat Saber for free. More weird.

Yah, saw this. Blaming it on cost of goods. Tonal recently did this too. We bought the day before it jumped $500 a few weeks ago.

Definitely time to snag one if you haven't yet.

I'm glad I bought when I did then. I bought my Quest 2 over a week ago, but didn't get all the accessories until this past Monday. I now have the Bobovr strap, face shield with fan, and case. This thing is pretty sweet! I've only dabbled with a few of the apps and games so far, but I'm already happy with my purchase.

Trying to tell if my Elite Strap is broken or not. I can make it tight by just pushing on the back part, I do not need to turn the wheel. Making it bigger requires a wheel turn. Can't remember if that's how it is by default or if I did something to it.

As some of you may know, I'm a huge Tetris fan. While I have Tetris Effect on my PS4, I've been disappointed in it in some ways, mainly how the playing field seems too distant and the bar showing the upcoming pieces is often obscured by the dazzling effects. I've been wanting to play it on my Oculus Quest 2, but I wouldn't purchase it because I refuse to play Tetris with an analog stick. Luckily, the other day, I found out that you can connect a PS4 controller to it! The game was on sale last night, so I bought it and spent the next three hours or so playing it.

Man, now this is the way that it was meant to be! The playing field is close and the effects do not hamper my view in any way. Now I can fully appreciate this game.

Does the ps4 controller thing work for other games on Quest 2, is it easy to set up?
Does it work with DualSense?

I don't think it works with most games. I tried a couple, but it just wasn't recognized. In the Oculus main menu, you can't use your analog sticks to navigate the menus. You have to point by maneuvering a cursor with your head and then pushing the X button on your controller. I only new that it worked with Tetris because I read a few posts somewhere online where people were talking about it.
It was easy to set up. I went into the oculus phone app and was able to set it up there. These two links were useful:

Is that the touch pad thingy on the controller? I have no idea.

Safe to assume a PS5 controller would work as well yeah?

You would think so, but I have no idea. From what I have read, it sounds like some XBox controllers are easiest to connect to it.

There isn't much (or any?) PlayStation VR discussion in here but that's the only one I have access to, so just ignore this post if you don't have one.
I was browsing the PlayStation Store last night and saw a new Transformers VR game had released last week. I can't find too many reviews on YouTube from the channels I normally look to for VR reviews and there are none on Metacritic.

Anyone here played it? It looks to be exclusive to PlayStation VR and that'll limit its audience more than just being a VR game already does. I watched a few videos and I guess it's an on-rails arcade style shooter. I don't know if I want to pay $20 for it because VR games are often short as it is, and I don't know how much replay value I'd get out of it.

I honestly haven’t even turned my PSVR on since I got Quest 2 in January
But that’s mostly due to a softly annoying setup I have (while quest is wireless and perfectly free of such troubles), I do plan on going back to it soon, still have like 10 exclusives I wanna rock on there

And ill def buy PSVR 2, just wish it was fully wireless but one wire isnt too bad i guess

I haven't played much PSVR this year either, but especially in Summer I often avoid using it because of how hot you get when wearing the headset.

Despite not using it much this year I've still been buying games for it here and there during PSN sales, got probably around 20-ish games (haven't actually counted) that haven't been played a single time yet. I'll be moving next month and I hope to get more VR time in after I've settled in. My only complaint is that because I have the original PSVR, the box thingy that connects to the PS4/PS5 prevents me from being able to have HDR enabled on my TV. I don't know if they sell the Version 2 of that connector box thingy on its own (not even sure what it's called).

Yeah, I believe the v2 PSVR box did allow for HDR passthrough. But don't quote me on that, it's been awhile.

I find myself thinking about playing my Quest 2 more than I actually want to play it. I just really need to be in the right mood I guess. But I do always enjoy it. And I do keep my eye out for sales a lot.

Yeah. The version 2 one does have HDR passthrough.

I finally managed to find a review of that Transformers VR game I mentioned. Absolutely going to pass on it at $20. There are only six stages and it took the reviewer barely an hour to finish playing through them on the default difficulty.

In addition to that, the game doesn't even have Trophies. I game a lot on my Switch so I am used to playing through games without any Trophies/Achievements, but I thought those are a requirement when releasing your game on the other consoles? I don't know how they got around it.

Anyway, looking forward to new info/games for PSVR 2 tomorrow.

A look at some of the new features of PS VR2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5L9Mvh7tAk

Do any of the VR headsets on PC offer built-in rumble? That sounds like a feature that could either be awesome, or it's gonna take too long for devs to figure out how to use it right without causing potential headaches for the player.

I noticed RE 8 footage is included. I own Resident Evil VIII on PS4 but haven't played it yet. Now I'm just gonna wait and see if it is getting re-released on PS5 as a standalone VR game, or some kind of DLC expansion, or if the current version will get a free update that adds it. I almost expect it would be a re-release because Capcom really likes selling you their games over and over.
Either way, the first time I played RE 7 was in VR mode and after that decided I would never play it without VR, so I'm glad I waited so I can do the same for RE 8.

The Valve Index was $1k over 2 1/2 years ago when it came out. So $1500 isn't that crazy of a price if this is truly is a high-tier product. But I just don't think it is, or will sell well.

The Quest became popular because of the price and the vast game library...well, because of the price. Take away "the deal" and this new set is a big ask.

Having a PC makes that library as large as the Index.
