lol I forgot all about that movie.

Maybe they'll do a re-imagining where The Lone Ranger eats his love interests. I'm wondering if Hammer ever REALLY ate any part of a person or if talking about it is just some VERY effed up sexual fantasy he has. I imagine the latter, and I assume the documentary dives into that stuff.

If you can't remain objective on a topic, then please refrain from discussing it. I cleaned up both sides of a flame war that was starting, as neither side was contributing, just starting the usual back and forth. This is why we don't do politics in the main forums. Take it some place that is designed for that kind of discussion.

Man, I always arrive late to check the drama.

I just recently learned about that Hammer situation and I'm curious about that series. I might check it out later.

I am so, so ready for this. Knives Out is one of the movies that has come out in the past 10 years and immediately skyrocketed on my favorites list. Others include Birdman, The Shape of Water, Inside Llewyn Davis, etc.

Fond memories watching the first Knives Out... I was under the weather, worried about my mother's health, it was New Year's Eve and I had invitations to two different parties. My girlfriend went to one with her sister and my friends were doing their thing, but I was home alone. What should have been a sorta crappy night ended up saved when I threw Knives Out on for the first time and was completely caught up in it. I've since watched it countless times and love it more whenever I see it. Really fun movie.

So to say I'm excited about this sequel is a bit of an understatement. Looks entirely different, setting-wise, but definitely seems to still have that Knives Out charm. Cannot wait.

Looks really good. Only problem with it is that Ana de Armas won't be in it wry smile I've been wanting to re-watch Knives Out for a while now, I should get to that.

Is Knives Out the one with

the older guy who's poisoned, and he gives his stuff in his will to his caretaker, and the whole family is fighting, and there's a detective who's trying to figure out what happened? And in the end it had something to do with two nearly identical looking liquids in a bottle?

That's the obvious choice, so he's probably there for misdirection. Unless it turns out he really was the killer. But wasn't. Not really. But he was! But not!

She's the lead in that Marilyn Monroe movie, Blonde, that got an NC-17 rating.

I tend to be lockstep with you on your reviews and opinions @theJaw; however, I remember Knives Out being very underwhelming, boring, and just a bit lackluster. It's long enough ago now that I barely remember much about it, sans that both my wife and I were just a bit of a "meh" status on it. We'll rewatch it with the sequel coming out though.

Aw man, yah give it another go. It definitely is a slow burn in several ways, though I loved the characters and performances for said characters enough that I was thoroughly entertained all the way through.

With the sequel trailer dropping, I actually just re-watched the first while working. This shot is iconic at this point, at least to me. That whole scene, and Blanc's big monologue, is one of my favorite moments in film from the past few years for sure.

That sucks big. I can't say I'm surprised, I mentioned it enough times pre-release that I felt Amazon was putting all their eggs in the LOTR basket while Paper Girls was getting the shaft and after seeing Paper Girls, I still sorta feel that's what happened. Though, the narrative choices for Paper Girls could have been better too... if they had followed the comics a little closer instead of lingering on that random character's farm for so long, I feel like they could have made a bigger splash. But that also has to do with budget limitations, which just brings me back to how expensive LOTR was when compared to Paper Girls.

Real shame. Hopefully they're able to sell it to somebody else who will actually give it the time of day instead of just treating it as "another popular comic property we can capitalize on" like Amazon seemed to do once The Boys blew up.

Amazon has a show, Night Sky that I was interested in. So, I put it on my watchlist. By the time I got around to watching it (a couple months later maybe), they had canceled it. It wasn't bad. Oh well. Amazon seems as brutal as Netflix about canceling shows.

re: Knives Out ... Rian Johnson's Brick (2005) remains one of my favorite movies. I think it was his first feature film. The writing in it is so sharp and cool.

How dare you say positive things about one of the many people who've ruined Star Wars!

I hear Brick is great, one of the cops from Knives Out is in it if I recall. I'll need to give that a go.

Between Knives Out & Breaking Bad, I think I'm just a big Rian Johnson fan in general. I stand by my opinion that, despite a few flaws, The Last Jedi is still the best Star Wars movie since Empire. Not a popular opinion, but I love it and seemingly love a lot of what Johnson does. Heck, got the apartment to myself for the weekend, maybe I'll whip Brick on one of these nights.

(I know Kommie, I'll get to Arcane.)

Disney is releasing The Little Mermaid screens. This won't get review bombed at all, despite the story having no impact on what the skin tone of the MC is.

Point being: that if "race"/gender swap does not impact the story, there's no reason to be so upset. If anything, Ariel being darker makes sense since she lives at the bottom of the fudging ocean, away from direct sunlight.

Just you wait until they see the girl that plays Cyclone in Black Adam...

Edit: About The Little Mermaid, I only object to them getting Melissa McCarthy to play Ursula because she's... just.. not that good of an actress. She's great at drama, but I just don't find her funny, and I don't know if she'll be able to pull off the character.

Also I'm VERY WORRIED about the CGI for the animal characters.

I dunno if Ursula really needs to be too comical, she was mostly only "funny" in the sense that she was an over-stylized cartoon character. Not that I'm pumped about McCarthy either, just playing devil's advocate there.

I'm fine with the actress playing Ariel but that teaser didn't do a single thing for me. I know there was really nothing there but what WAS there didn't look that good.
