Anyone else excited for AEW Dynamite tonight?
theJaw
18-Jan(#124)Whoa. NJPW just announced that Kazuchika Okada is officially leaving NJPW when his contract ends on January 31.
Wonder what’s next for ol’ Rainmaker.

Lol I wonder if he’d be willing after his first run there with the goofy “Kato from Green Hornet” gimmick. New management though, so it’s gotta be on the table. All depends who has the cash he’s looking for. Heck, he may even take a break. He’s been going so hard for so long now.

20-Jan(#130)Ranking system officially back for AEW. Hell yah, getting that OG AEW feeling back.
Revolution card looks like it's shaping up to be stacked:
AEW World title: Joe vs Swerve vs Hangman
AEW TNT title: Copeland vs Christian
Kingston vs Danielson
Sting/Darby vs Bucks in Sting's retirement match (chosen by Sting himself)
AEW Women's title: Storm vs Deonna
AEW International title: Orange Cassidy vs Roddy Strong
(Probably) AEW Trios/ROH 6-Man title Unifcation: Acclaimed vs Bullet Club Gold
FTR/Garcia vs. House of Black in a cage match taking place next week on Collision. Same night as Rumble but still looking forward to it. I gotta move that entire day so prob won't have time for any wrestling regardless.
theJaw
21-Jan(#133)Yah it's Greensboro. Card looks badass. Sting's chosen retirement match is the cherry on top.
I'd 100% go by myself if I were nearby and couldn't find anyone else to go. That's history right there.
theJaw
21-Jan(#135)Lol he probably chooses his own gear but it is very undies-like
But whatever, Pete Dunne is Pete Dunne again so all the weird WWE shills can finally stop pretending “Butch” was a good idea. Atta boy, Triple H.

* 22-Jan(#137)Real good promo between Rhodes and Punk just then. Helping make the Rumble match seem important.
Goofy that Punk suggested he could separate business from personal matters though, but what can ya do. Bullcrapters are gonna bullcrap.

23-Jan(#139)I’m gonna just come out blunt bad move by wwe using Netflix to show raw. They were better off staying on USA or another station.
Are dedicated viewers gonna sign up and watch on Netflix with a subscription.
I mean royal rumble is peacock exclusive could’ve put raw on peacock streaming
I’ll be surprised if they maintain high viewership when raw starts on netflix
Side note
I do have Netflix but not to watch wrestling
theJaw
23-Jan(#140)Well that's a weird development. I have Netflix right now but money's tight so who knows if I have it in a year, when Raw starts airing there.
Probably a good sign for AEW though. I don't know if things ever got serious between WBD and WWE about Raw but now that Netflix snagged it, WBD is free to move forward with AEW plans. I expect some sort of streaming agreement and a contract extension.

I think the issue is that USA didn't want Raw anymore. They were fairly open with how Raw wasn't doing the numbers they were expecting anymore. They are getting Smackdown on USA instead, which has been outdrawing Raw for a while now (and is considered the better show by many).
Sorta feels like Smackdown has usurped Raw as WWE's flagship show with this move, in my opinion.

I was thinking this way back in the day too, when it was revealed that had the Invasion storyline not flopped, Vince was ready to rebrand Raw as the WCW show and keep WWF on SmackDown. Granted, just like today SmackDown was on free TV at the time and so naturally it would draw bigger numbers than Raw. But I just found it hard to believe they were really going to do that because Raw was still the more well known brand.

* 25-Jan(#148)The Vince allegations are back in the news. Alleged trafficking and assault as listed in a lawsuit. John Laurinaitis is also involved, as well as an unnamed WWE star/UFC Champion assumed to be Brock Lesnar. WSJ is behind a paywall for me, but NY Post is not.
https://nypost.com/2024/01/25/business/ex-wwe-empl...Got the original news from PWInsider, which also has a paywall via Elite subscription (I’m an elite there) or ads.
This obviously isn’t great news for Vince, and hopefully this gets him the rest of the way out of the picture. Johnny Ace can get fudgeed for all I care and not in the nice way. Brock… can’t say I’m either surprised or not surprised. We’ll see where it goes.
Edit: lawsuit can be found here.

25-Jan(#150)Fudge all three of them. True villainous sacks of crap, but can't say I'm surprised whatsoever.

I mean, back in 2022 he literally went on a "thank you Vince" tour when the allegations first surfaced. Of course he thought he was above the law -- the dude thinks he's untouchable. Pure trash.

26-Jan(#155)Dwayne Johnson has full rights to “the rock “ moniker

26-Jan(#158)It’s just too bad the Men’s Rumble is the literal only interesting match booked.
theJaw
26-Jan(#160)I predict they get out of it with Bloodline interference. Going out on a limb.
