Why oh why do all 3 come out next month. Massive games, each requiring a substantial time investment.
What's your order of priority? I'm torn... I keep debating #1/2 largely based on friends playing to be able to share stories with.
Still, this is tough. Horrible timing!
1. Horizon
2. Elden Ring
3. Dying Light
Also not looking forward to the credit card bill for all these collector editions, ugh.

8-Jan-2022(#3)Good thing I don't care about these expensive collector edition stuff. But it's not good to have so many big games come out so close together. I will eventually buy all three of these. Its really hard to choose tbh.
Like if I got all three at the same time, I feel like I would rush thru them and not give them the time that each game would deserve. I will probably go with Dying Light and Elden Ring at first.
Bleed_DukeBlue
8-Jan-2022(#4)Yeah, it’s pretty rough, and I already have all three pre-ordered. I’m playing Horizon first, as I loved HZD. I’m in less of a hurry to play Dying Light 2, as I’m only a little bit into the first game and have a long way to go. Elden Ring seems like it’s gonna be great, but I also suspect it’s going to be brutally difficult, so I’ll have to be in the right mindset for that one lol.

9-Jan-2022(#15)Didn’t finish Horizon 1 yet so I’ll wait until the summer to get it, it’ll probably be 39.99 or less on sale by then. Hyped for Elden Ring day 1, and will be getting Dying Light 2 once my friends all get it and have time for it

20-Jan-2022(#20)So, I had no idea they were putting Dying Light 2 on the Switch. It's been delayed for Switch, not sure why anyone would want to play it there, but it'll eventually be there.

They did a good job with the Switch port of the first game, even if it took them a few years more than it should have. But even though they promised 5 years of post-launch content for the game, I kind of don't expect that to include the Switch version since it's just one of those cloud games and it's probably not going to have a very large userbase because of that.

Low chance. They released a closed demo, to pretty much universal praise. From Software have been making these types of games since 2009, it's not like they're a one-hit wonder studio like CDPR prior to Cyberpunk.

2-Feb-2022(#31)Reviews are saying Dying Light 2 is full of bugs. Someone at IGN on PS5 got a corrupt save file.
From IGN:
Bug Alert! If your tolerance for bugs is low, I do not recommend jumping into Dying Light 2 on day one. Or day 10. Maybe day 30? I was able to play it to completion, but only barely: leading up to launch it is absolutely drowning in a sea of upsetting technical issues, whether it’s crashing (which happened to me dozens of times in my more than 80 hours with it on Xbox Series X and to others at IGN on PlayStation 5 and PC), all dialogue stopping during cutscenes, all audio being replaced with a loud screeching noise, getting locked out of quests because a character won’t let you talk to him or being unable to finish because the objective never spawned in, uneven framerates making me seasick, and too many more to list here. Most glitches are temporary annoyances or even amusing wonkiness, but some are more dire – one IGN editor playing on PS5 had his entire save file corrupted, leaving him with a never-ending loading screen and locking him out of his save pending an upcoming patch. Normally I expect a certain lack of polish in ambitious, open-world games, but even with my expectation for jankiness set to maximum, Dying Light 2 has been really, really rough. The longer I played, the more frequent the issues seemed to become; by the end I was having to quit out and reboot multiple times per hour, and breathed a huge sigh of relief when credits rolled and something hadn’t catastrophically broken my save file. In terms of stability issues and the danger of losing progress, it’s been considerably more severe than our experience with the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077, where the bugs we hit were mostly visual in nature. Techland is aware of all of this and is reportedly hard at work on patches to address it, but if history is any indication it’s going to take more than a few real-world day-night cycles to sort out this many issues.
Can't say it's surprising.

Before you settle in to gaming, be sure to do the dishes, do some chores around the house and/or do something nice for your wife. Then she probably won't give a crap.
I might get Dying Light this week since I'm mostly bed ridden and am dying to play something. But I do have to play on my laptop which is showing some age. I'd rather not play on PS5 (it is an option though I guess.)

There's clearly going to be a ton of shinnies... But at least they're way more fun than traditional types of these games.

Yep. It was cool then I stepped through and got a tall neck. Boom. Overwhelming. And it’s just not very fun honestly. Combat is wonky- where’s the bad guy, charging a power attack into a locked enemy I can’t see. Yikes. I’m not giving up but definitely seeing the shortfalls here.

Hahaha, I know that feeling good sir. "not gonna drink tonight"... Famous last words. It's just so easy to keep playing once you've had a, couple.
71 hours, 76%... Spent time tonight fully upgrading my armor and hunter bow. Still working on the sharpshot bow. The upgrades for Legendary gear are a bit ridiculous TBH, they definitely didn't scale this well.
Haha, all I want to do is keep playing. Had two old fashioneds and not ready to call it but... Alas, it's a school night, womp womp.

Agreed.
I have such a love hate for these open world shinny games but man, Horizon... Is just fun. Both BotW and Horizon just do it better than others by making it worth it to blow time doing all the various efforts. Last one I did this was with Ghosts... Which was cool and all, but felt too much like a chore, repetitive, and not enough payoff.
Truly excited to be done and move on to Elden Ring! This community will be done by then =(
MrBean
* 8-Mar-2022(#83)Is anyone actually playing HFW?
79 hours, 88% complete, hope to be done this weekend. At this point, totally Op'd and just running around demolishing everything, even on very hard. A bit disappointed in the lack of Legendary gear, especially no spear. At this point, should only be story left as I've closed out every single side mission, task, exploration... Done! Primary armor and 3 weapons fully upgraded. May upgrade the others but I never use them. Two bows + sling is really all that is needed.
Mixing it up with different Valor perks is fun, but realistically, only the traps, melee, and power arrows are worth the effort (more so the latter). Stealth can be fun too to fudge with the big boys and never have them see you but at this point it's about just taking them down in a few seconds with a sharpshot explosion and a few follow ups.
I'm kinda surprised how many lengthy efforts yield no trophies. I never hunt trophies, but quite a few of these tasks, I'd assume trophies should have happened as they took nearly the whole game to complete.
Definitely an amazing game. Really excited to see how it ends. I'd be shocked if they don't leave it open for DLC and a sequel. They're gonna milk this as long as they can (and I hope they do).
Very much so ready to be done and get underway with Elden Ring, and then Dying Light.

They absolutely could delay to the sequel, but given how they ended HFW ... It'd be tough story telling I think. If they don't address what's happening at the end of HFW in the DLC, and simply add some side story, it could work, just would feel off. More so from the sense of urgency of where things are at the end.
I think they will use the dlc to launch the third game into a very different setting, after addressing what happens at the end of HFW. If they don't, I fear it'll be too saturated and milked based on how much is covered in HFW.
We'll see!

While the story does indeed not have the first ones mystery it's still pretty gripping. I had planned on doing most side missions and everything along the way but I had to stop. The main story just sucked me in. The story is IMO very well done. The side missions are also much better in this game then the last IMO. The side missions that are in the trophy list I highly recommend. There are a few side missions in San Fran that gives out good rewards.
When it comes to the Trophies, go for it. They are not hard IMO. There is only one missable. So scan everything. Do the arena and go through all difficulties, scan everything before you jump down and that should clean up anything you may have missed.... There will be one at the very end. Plus you have access to some new venders at the end.
The only thing in this game I hate is the damn strike missions, but I am not going to have it stop me from the plat.

It was, I think I ended up buying the complete edition on a flash deal... Just before Sony offered it. I remember being a tad bit bitter... Just like with Hot Wheels Unleashed PS5 being offered this month and just buying it about a month and a half back for no bloody reason. I am just trying to knock out AAA games in my backlog so by the time I get around to HZD DLC maybe I can get the remaster on a deal. The goal would be playing the 1st and 2nd before the 3rd Wich I would assume is in production.

Horizon is an amazing game, and I can see how it would make for a killer MMO, but it'll cause me and others like me, to skip it all together because of the investment.
I enjoy both Horizon games for their story telling and campaign, but to play it in a never ending universe? ugh
