Surprised we don't have anything going on this topic. See if it goes anywhere, but I came here to ask for support on the Oculus/Quest.
Family got me a Quest 2 for my bday. I've been holding out for the next release and/or PSVR2, but eh, I'll take it!
Suggestions for best games to play on it?
I picked up a few accessories too:
- Strap with Battery and Carrying Case -
https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...- Fat Sweaty Man Visor -
https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...Any others I should be looking at?
Thanks!

10-Jun-2022(#4)My fam got me a Quest 2 for my bday (just recently) as well haha. I don't have a PC so I can't play some of the PC Link stuff like Half Life or the Lone Echoes that I wish I could.
So far I've liked:
Red Matter (super chill, no enemies, great starter game)
Synth Riders (more forgiving than beat saber)
Youtube VR - loads of stuff flying over major cities (pyramids of egypt, paris, petra, etc.)
Tentacular
I loved Astrobot on PS and unfortunately there aren't many platformers like that. I'm prob going to try Lucky's Tale and/or Ven VR Adventures next ($20 each).
Pistol Whip and The Room VR ($30 each) are on my list but I'm waiting on sales for those.

10-Jun-2022(#5)I'm interested in opinions on the elite strap and battery. So far I'm not playing for more than 2 hours but I hear the strap is more comfortable. And not being capped at 2 hours or whatever would be nice.

You can hook up the Quest to a computer. It allows you to run games from the computer video card, as well as shows on screen what you are looking at.

12-Jun-2022(#21)I have a Quest 1. I'm really liking Walkabout Mini Golf. It gives you 8 themed courses that are great. When you make par on a course, you unlock a pretty wicked hard mode for that course. There are also 4 extra courses you can buy.
Job Simulator, FX pinball, and Moss are also great games.

12-Jun-2022(#22)Download Aircar for free from Steam. Epic experience flying a car like a Blade Runner vehicle. It's only 1 city map, but there is a point. It's a great sense of immersion.
Star Wars Squadrons is good too. As well as Alien Isolation with the VR mod
In-game on wifi and it works great.

22-Jun-2022(#29)@MrBean This is the deepest sale I've seen yet. Every day there is 1 item that gets discounted but it's usually just a couple bucks and so far nothing of interest. This is definitely a noteworthy sale although at most you might save $10 on something. But this is literally the only place you can buy the games.
Star Wars Galaxy Edge is a great example of what the Quest 2 can do. It's normally $25 + $10 for a DLC. All of it together is $25 right now and I hear with the DLC it's a good 7-8 hours of gameplay. I'm only a couple hours in but so far this is the best experience I've had on the Oculus.
https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/112320777...The music genre is ideal for VR, you may want to consider grabbing either of these, both are great but different:
Synth Riders $16.99 (normally $25)
Pistol Whip $20.99 (normally $30)
You can try a demo of Synth Riders if you want to sample it first (that's what I did):

If you enjoy synth riders and beat saber you have to try Audica. It’s from the creators of rock band and it’s one of my favorite VR experiences

23-Jun-2022(#32)That's a solid list. I don't know that I could recommend anything else besides The Room VR or I Want You To Die. I haven't played them but hear great things. Oh, Moss is $20 if you never played it on PSVR. Moss 2 comes to Quest in July I think.
Red Matter was the first thing I bought. It's super chill (no enemies or weapons) and a good first experience but now that I've played other stuff it's a bit dull in comparison. Definitely wait for a sale on it.

* 6-Jul-2022(#34)I've heard Vader is really short (all 3 episodes) but the 3rd one is best. I never tried it though. The Tales from the Galaxy one is pretty good so far though.
Also, not sure if you're aware of the non-Oculus store stuff. But there's this:
https://sidequestvr.com/apps/applab/1/ratingSome of these require some extra steps on a PC, but others install just like normal. They're on the regular store, just not browsable. So that site gives a direct link to the store where you can DL the game.

- Elite Strap with battery
- case
- lens protector
Am I missing something? Also, is there a case that any of you would recommend?

And be sure to use a referral code when activating the device. If you use that referal link you'll get a $30 credit for use in the store, and the referrer will also get $30 credit!
I had a referral but got mine all setup before realizing it's not a code you can enter at some point.
You can't apply this afterwards so I lost out on the $30. You have to go through the referral link before activating a device but absolutely do that. Everyone can generate their referral link for you, but of course I'm happy to.

Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator are excellent stationary type games (same devs also made RIck and Morty VR)

Half Life Alyx is a showcase of high end VR.

15-Jul-2022(#50)Okay, this is pretty fun. Just played a couple rounds of Beat Saber. Not thrilled I have to move my body by crouching and leaning but still a lot of fun.
Any advice on how to keep the headset up? It keeps sliding down. The side head strap is already as tight as it gets.
Also, any suggestions on controller grips? My hands get kinda clammy.
Anxiouz
* 15-Jul-2022(#51)For the headstrap try to put a majority of the pressure on the top strap. Make that one tighter. The sides are more for stability from what I was told. The top is more for supporting the weight. But I've got a big head. You may just want to look for a 3rd party option.
I'm a big fan of Synth Riders over Beat Saber. There is occasional dodging but you can also disable obstacles as a setting if you prefer. I also like how SR has smooth movements over the chopping motions. If you haven't tried it you should try the
demo.

That's the one that I've been considering. From what I've seen and read about it, it sounds like something I would go for.
One more question: what about wearing glasses with this thing? From what I've read, the Quest 2 comes with a spacer for those who wear glasses. Do you think this BOBOVR F2 is compatible with it?
Update: I came across a Reddit post where someone said that they "can confirm the F2 works with the stock glasses spacer," so that answers my question, but I may end up getting these -
https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...I might do that upgrade to protect the lenses from my son's glasses. I'm so paranoid about damaging those things.

8-Sep-2022(#78)As some of you may know, I'm a huge Tetris fan. While I have Tetris Effect on my PS4, I've been disappointed in it in some ways, mainly how the playing field seems too distant and the bar showing the upcoming pieces is often obscured by the dazzling effects. I've been wanting to play it on my Oculus Quest 2, but I wouldn't purchase it because I refuse to play Tetris with an analog stick. Luckily, the other day, I found out that you can connect a PS4 controller to it! The game was on sale last night, so I bought it and spent the next three hours or so playing it.
Man, now this is the way that it was meant to be! The playing field is close and the effects do not hamper my view in any way. Now I can fully appreciate this game.

I don't think it works with most games. I tried a couple, but it just wasn't recognized. In the Oculus main menu, you can't use your analog sticks to navigate the menus. You have to point by maneuvering a cursor with your head and then pushing the X button on your controller. I only new that it worked with Tetris because I read a few posts somewhere online where people were talking about it.
It was easy to set up. I went into the oculus phone app and was able to set it up there. These two links were useful:

21-Sep-2022(#92)A look at some of the new features of PS VR2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5L9Mvh7tAkDo any of the VR headsets on PC offer built-in rumble? That sounds like a feature that could either be awesome, or it's gonna take too long for devs to figure out how to use it right without causing potential headaches for the player.
I noticed RE 8 footage is included. I own Resident Evil VIII on PS4 but haven't played it yet. Now I'm just gonna wait and see if it is getting re-released on PS5 as a standalone VR game, or some kind of DLC expansion, or if the current version will get a free update that adds it. I almost expect it would be a re-release because Capcom really likes selling you their games over and over.
Either way, the first time I played RE 7 was in VR mode and after that decided I would never play it without VR, so I'm glad I waited so I can do the same for RE 8.

28-Oct-2022(#105)Just played Superhot VR for the first time (got it on sale). Man, this game is a blast! I had to stop after two hours. I was starting to get pretty warm moving around so much with that thing on my face. So cool.

31-Oct-2022(#106)I think this weekend I'm going to force myself to play the Quest 2. I enjoy it a lot when I play but just always seem to prefer the couch and Xbox when I have to the time to play something. I think I've even bought a couple games on sale that I haven't even tried yet: Ven (or Zen?...the Astro-bot-like platformer) & Walkabout Minigolf.

17-Jan-2023(#112)Offbrand charge station for $30 before the PSVR2 hardware is out seems sketchy. I'm sure they have dev units available to use but $30 seems awfully cheap given the potential audience.

Why? The official one is $50 so it would make sense to make it cheaper or else why would you get it? Is the concern that the device wouldn?t t sit nicely on it?
Either way I just preordered it. The company seems to make plenty of other products and if it doesn?t work I can return it easily

29-Jan-2023(#115)I dusted off the Quest 2 this weekend and rather enjoyed it. I do have fun when I play but I almost always just go for flatscreen gaming instead. I think I’m going to make more of an effort to play the quest. I’m excited about the PSVR2 but I think the quest will hold me over for awhile.
I bought Walkabout Minigolf at some point but tried it out for the first time and it’s a lot of fun, and pretty relaxing.

Read up a bit on this on Reddit and found this response interesting..
“Does this story not sound familiar to anyone?
Takashi Mochizuki is the same journalist who claimed Sony had revised their launch PS5 numbers skyward, before later reporting Sony had revised their launch numbers downward, generating a lot of negative press before launch. Sony rarely respond to bogus reports, but for Mochizuki they made an exception, issuing a press release stating that PS5 launch numbers remain the same and had never altered. In essence, Takashi Mochizuki concocted a second "source familiar with affairs" to backtrack instead of acknowledging his first report was erroneous.
Now consider this. The 2 million launch figure never arrived from Sony. It was yet another Takashi Mochizuki invention.
Takashi Mochizuki, October 3, 2022:
Sony Group Corp. plans to make 2 million units of the PlayStation VR2 headset by March next year, people familiar with the matter said
Takashi Mochizuki, January 31, 2023:
The company halved its forecast for shipments of the PSVR2 ... to about a million units, said people familiar with its deliberations.
This guy invents fictitious numbers only to refute them at a later date.“

* 31-Jan-2023(#120)IGN posted an article based on what Mochizuki said, so I posted a comment about how Sony had refuted that with the link to the article from gameindustry.biz, and they kept it in moderator limbo (not approved). Then, I posted again without the link but described where it could be found without using the link. About 10 minutes later, IGN updated the article using the link I was trying to post that they still hadn't approved and changed the headline to "Sony Denies Reports of PlayStation VR2 Production Being Slashed" lol.

31-Jan-2023(#124)Honestly, I wouldn't count this out as being a purposeful rumor to get the PSVR2 into the news and spin up interest. Although it makes it sound like preorder numbers weren't great, it also alludes to a stronger sense of scarcity. "There's only going to be 1M units, I better preorder mine now".
Personally I don't see enough at launch that I'm interested in for $600 (incl. tax) so I'm going to wait.

* 28-Sep-2023(#127)I've come to accept the fact that owning a VR headset when your kids aren't old enough to play it and the house can't be setup to prioritize it is a waste of money. It's like buying a $500 console to play one game for a weekend and then let it sit for years. I ended up selling my PSVR a couple years back. I'll check back in to see what the state of VR is in about 7-10 years

28-Sep-2023(#129)I find that I'm either all in and want to play VR every day after work, or it sits in its box for weeks or months at a time. I keep saying I like to dabble every now and then but I don't really. I'll be into a new game for a couple days, likely beat it since many are short, play a couple songs of Synth Riders since the headset is already on, and then head back to my console for the next few months.

Yeah I loved my index but the wire and setup kills it for me. Quest 3 is amazing and even better with a solid wireless connection to my PC if I want.
I really hope psvr2 makes a wireless accessory at some point.

14-Feb(#137)@PizzaTheHutt There are lots of different PCVR headsets. All the PCVR headsets have access to the same games, but they might be spread across different storefronts. So I have most of my PCVR games on steam with a few on the Oculus store. For PCVR, headsets are essentially just monitors as all the computations are running on the PC.
The most popular headsets out now are the Meta Quest headsets. Those are more like a console, in that the games run directly on the headset and do not need a PC at all. However, if you have a PC, you can play PCVR games on the meta quest headsets by running a cable from PC to the headset or casting the game from your PC wirelessly to the headset. There are games that release exclusively on the Meta Quest store that you can't play on the PC VR headsets, so the Meta Quest 3 is the one system that allows you to access everything (except for the PSVR stuff which is it's own closed ecosystem)
I recommend the Meta Quest 3 as it's relatively inexpensive, can go anywhere, and is super easy to use and setup. However, Meta is owned by Facebook, so if you hate Facebook then you are kind of out of luck.

This is the perfect summary! I would agree that the Quest 3 is the best headset to get right now hands down.
