* 2-Nov-2022(#3)It’s not backwards compatible, but that doesn’t bother me. I’m just going to keep my PSVR too.
https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/23356951/psvr...I think $549.99 is pretty reasonable for the specs. Current VR headsets that match or exceed this are $1000+. When the PSVR launched, it cost $50 more than the PS4 (just like how this is $50 more than the PS5). (PSVR was $399.99 vs $349.99 at that point for the PS4). This is a day one purchase for me if I can get it. I’ve had money saved up specifically for it for years.

Farpoint is probably the only game that I experienced this with, and maybe a little bit of the Robinson project. Most games don’t have that effect.
Too pricy for me at launch, but will get down the line for sure. Not into being an early adopter

Unfortunately some people will never be able to handle VR. Sometimes the more you play the better it gets but I know people that can't handle it at all. Better resolution, fps, etc definitely does help. It also could be the style of games. My wife can only really handle the diorama style games where you manipulate what's in front of you but stay stationary. Anything with movement, even the teleport and snap movement is too much for her. If you are sensitive you can start with stuff like Moss, Ghost Giant, and Statik and see how you do. Then move to stuff with snap and teleport movement and then to full motion FPS games.

* 2-Nov-2022(#17)I think $550 is a fair price when you compare it to other VR headsets and the current state of PS5/XSX pricing. It's still a niche item but for those that like VR it's going to be great. I'm definitely interested but am going to wait until there is a larger game library for it.

Ok but I had to change my playstation user account email since it was on an old email I no longer have access too. So they MIGHT have emailed that, and I didn't change it until after I submitted for a pre-order, I did again when I changed my e-mail. But that was AFTER they already went on sale. I'm more of a streamlined collector. So like with that Tactics Ogre remaster coming out, I think I prefer the PSP version, so I will buy that. No double dipping in other words. If you mean the GB ones are a bit different, then what I mean by streamlined is I just want to own and play the ones I consider the best of the series. And that's Gex 2 and Gex 3 IMO.

It's a PS1 platformer so go in with realistic expectations. It's no mario or banjo. Heck it's not even a Crash. But the lame quips make it a unique game. The variety of themed areas are pretty nice.

* 7-Dec-2022(#71)I was late to the game with PSVR1 and finally got a v2 model in December 2021. I went in pretty hard and bought/traded for 20 games and played 18 of them within the last 12 months. I now understand the limitations, but am still a fan of how it all works. Excited for PSVR2, but will wait until there is more than 2 games I want to play (Horizon and Switchback VR).
Still trying to find another processer unit V2 so I can switch the headset between rooms

True, will help to have better graphics while still having 4K at the point you are focusing. Then there are all sorts of cool stuff. Like you can have an interaction with a commander or interrogator that tells you to look them in the eye. And react differently depending if you do or not.
One thing I thought about the haptic feedback in the headset. It will be perfect for making you feel that soft trickle of rain on your forehead.

* 13-Dec-2022(#78)I prefer physical for everything too, but VR is the one exception for me, because 1) it's more annoying having to switch discs when there's a headset involved (as small an issue as that is) and 2) there are a lot of VR games that never get a physical version or are much cheaper digital.

2-Feb-2023(#93)IGN was really impressed by Gran Turismo 7 in VR.
https://www.ign.com/videos/gran-turismo-7-vr-is-in...Also, upcoming system update will let you filter your game library to easily find PSVR/PSVR2 titles among the non-VR games. This should have been available since day one because there are many VR games I've bought but forgotten about because it's a pain in the ass finding them unless they have "VR" in their title. And you'll be able to update the VR2 Sense controllers wirelessly.
Bleed_DukeBlue
2-Feb-2023(#94)That’s helpful. I just have a big spreadsheet with all of my games in it (physical and digital), and one of the columns is VR. I just put yes or no and then PSVR2 in the rows that apply. Then, I sort by that column to see what I have in VR.

* 17-Feb-2023(#128)There's a few things that will help. Higher framerate is definitely one of them. The eye tracking also helps because it makes it much easier to get the IPD (distance between your pupils) correct. Unfortunately there are some people that just cannot handle VR regardless of what comfort techniques are used. My wife can't play anything with movement, even warp movement messes with her. She sticks to games in diorama style view like Moss, Ghost Giant, etc. Or non moving ones like GNOG, Statik, or I expect You to Die. Some games were also developed poorly and made way more people sick than usual, Tomb Raider, Time Machine VR, How We Soar.

* 23-Feb-2023(#146)Alright. I spent about an hour and a half with Horizon: Call of the Mountain, and it’s pretty impressive. They hit you with some great visuals (a tallneck in VR is just great) in the first segment. The climbing is a lot of fun, and using the bow is pretty intuitive. The scale of everything definitely feels bigger with the expanded field of view and crisper visuals. The biggest positive that I didn’t expect is just how much better the inside out cameras are than using the external camera like with the original PSVR. Also, the tracking with the new controllers (and the feel of them in general) is noticeably better. Although there’s still some clunkiness with all VR stuff, it feels much less burdensome than with my old PSVR. Also, the sound through the default headphones is pretty decent. You can hear the difference between climbing a rope and climbing a pipe. It really adds to the immersion. I haven’t tried my really good headphones yet, but I will soon. I’m really happy with everything so far.

Very cool indeed. Yeah the haptic feedback of PS5 is great. Companies just need to actually take time to implement it. With the haptics on the headset. Think about it being raining lightly, but you can feel the little "tip tip" trinkles on your forehead! So many cool things they could do!

I’m having a hard time keeping the paddle from dragging in the water after some strokes, which is weird, because I’m pretty decent at real kayaking. Yeah I follow and watched the without parole videos. It seems like a game to play on sale and when and if they hopefully improve the resolution

16-Mar-2023(#172)The Light Brigade is tough, but it's also really satisfying to play. I finally beat the first boss tonight, made it through the next level, and then died in the one after on my first run using the Assault class. It's my favorite so far, although I haven't unlocked the two classes after it yet.
Bleed_DukeBlue
* 20-Mar-2023(#174)I’ve been playing The Light Brigade a ton, and I was able to get to the second boss without a single death, but, then, I lost all three lives to the boss. It’s so rough. The boss is invincible while this acid goo stuff is pumping into her. You have to pull four levers to stop the goo from flowing to her (two near the ceiling and two on the floor). You have to teleport to the levers, because large sections of the floor are that acid goo and keep eating away your health as long as you touch it. While you’re trying to pull the levers, the boss is spitting big chunks of the goo at you (which sticks to all surfaces, creating another environmental hazard) and shooting a pistol at you. If you hit all of the levers, you have a limited amount of time to shoot at the boss. Then, you have to pull all of the levers again. When you damage the boss, rats come down conveyor belts to her, and she can eat them to restore her health. You also have to find ammo and equip it (which is hard to do quickly while also doing all of the above, because you have to eject the clip in your gun and then manually reload it and cock it to shoot. I’ll keep trying, as I can upgrade my stats a bit more each run, but this may be a wall for awhile.
Bleed_DukeBlue
30-Mar-2023(#176)So far, I’ve played and beaten three games on it: Horizon: COTM, Kayak VR, and The Light Brigade. It’s definitely exceeded my expectations, and I haven’t even played the most well-reviewed games for it (like RE: Village and GT7). Horizon’s climbing was really fun, Kayak VR was beautiful but initially quite frustrating until I got used to the controls. Then, I enjoyed it . The Light Brigade has been my favorite so far. The graphics are simple and not especially impressive, the controls took me some time to get used to, and it’s tough, but I got better with practice, and, then, the gameplay was great. It’s one of those “just one more run” type of games. Compared to the PSVR, the tracking is much better, and the visuals are quite impressive at times. I’m happy with my purchase.

22-Apr-2023(#183)I'm late taking a look at this article, but there are a couple of important points it overlooks:
1) They're comparing sales for PSVR from October-February to sales of PSVR2 from February-March. I suspect that PSVR2 sales will pick up quite a bit this holiday season.
2) There are way more people with a PC or a PS4 than with a PS5. As more people pick up a PS5, the potential userbase for the PSVR2 will get big enough to support better sales numbers.

I don’t think it’s just for a quick easy buck, I think at this phase of VR it makes so much more sense to make a fully fledged already made game into VR. Look at how good resident evil village and gran turismo are. Two top ten Vr games of all time IMO and they are “ports”.

13-Sep-2023(#212)This Mannequin game was just announced and I'm hoping it turns out to be good. "Asymmetric multiplayer hide-and-seek VR game."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trPqc7tu_8IThe world has stopped. Time is frozen. All attempts to make contact with the aliens have failed. Special Agents have been deployed to neutralize the threat once and for all.
Humans call the aliens: Mannequins.
Mannequin is an asymmetric multiplayer game for up to 5 players, filled with suspense, social deduction and fast, sudden action. Play as alien Mannequins and set up deadly ambushes by posing as humans frozen in time, or as human Agents and wield high tech gadgets to neutralize the Mannequins from a distance. |
You can apply to playtest the game on their Discord server.

30-Nov(#214)So, I haven't played as much as I wanted to, but I've enjoyed everything I've played so far (Horizon: Call of the Mountain, The Light Brigade, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, and Kayak). Of those, Kayak was my least favorite (although still neat), and I had the most fun with The Light Brigade. I don't personally feel like I bought it too soon. I still have 40+ games in my backlog that I bought but haven't gotten around to playing yet (just because there have been a buncn of great non-VR games out recently (Diablo IV, Baldur's Gate III, etc.). The battery life on the Sense controllers hasn't been an issue for me, but, then again, the most I've played at a time is a few hours. I haven't had them die on me yet.
In terms of stuff to play, Resident Evil 4 Remake's VR mode comes out as a free upgrade on December 8th. I'm really looking forward to that one.

30-Nov(#216)Nice. Take my recommendation with a little bit of a grain of salt though, because I love roguelites, and The Light Brigade is one. Also, the controls take some getting used to. That being said, it's pretty addictive and has some great boss fights. The platinum was tough, but I powered through it, because even when I had a hard time with some runs, it has that "just one more time" quality to it.

* 5-Dec(#217)Arizona Sunshine II reviews are out and it's currently at 81 on Metacritic. It seems to be less janky than the original (which was one of the most janky/buggy PSVR games I've played), but overall after watching and reading some reviews I'm not convinced I want to spend $50 on it.
The co-op mode in the campaign seems fun, but the horde mode only has one map and it's the same one from the first game, and apparently takes upwards of 30 minutes before it becomes challenging. On the plus side it makes good use of the haptics, and the campaign is approximately 7 hours long, I feel like I want to support developers that make VR games that last more than just 2 or 3 hours because that's often my biggest complaint with VR games.

18-Dec(#222)I have Ven on the Quest2. It's not as polished as Astrobot but it's more challenging and has more variety. It isn't amazing but I had lots of fun with it. There aren't a lot of games like this unfortunately so I was willing to put up with some occasional clumsiness. $20 is prob the highest I would pay for it.

* 19-Dec(#224)I got some Pulse Explore earbuds today for my birthday and also modded my PSVR2 headset with a globular cluster module, and it’s a whole different experience. It’s more immersive, I can stay in the sweet spot pretty easily, it’s more comfortable, and the earbuds sound better than I expected them to. (The key is definitely getting the right earbud tips. You can tell when they’re right, as they kinda lock in and seal your ear canal, and everything sounds way better.). Anyway, I’d recommend both (and especially the globular cluster module). I had a blast playing RE Village tonight with this setup.

I got the pulse earbuds coming in too and were hoping they were good for vr. Good to hear. That globular cluster setup looks intense, in a good way
Bleed_DukeBlue
* 19-Dec(#226)The globular cluster was much easier to install than I had thought it would be. You just pop out the front and back pads and the replacements click in. There’s an optional top strap, but I don’t even use it. I read that it’s mainly for if you have an overly large or overly small head. It makes the headset noticeably more comfortable and stable on my head.

* 30-Dec(#227)I got cockblocked by two Walmarts trying to pick up a PSVR2 today. Don't ever trust their app...or the people who work there apparently. I started by going to a Walmart 30 minutes out of the way because the app said that was the only store around that had it in stock, but the dude working there said not only do they not have any in stock, but that he hasn't seen any in that store "in a while". So then I went to another one, even though the app said they didn't have it in stock I know I've seen them there in the weeks leading up to Christmas, so I thought maybe the app was incorrect since it was wrong about the other store already. But they were sold out too and the woman in the electronics section said "I don't even think we sell those", but like I said I've seen them there before but I didn't want to waste my breath explaining to her that they do indeed sell them and it's part of her job to know that they do. I could've saved myself the disappointment (and gas) by just calling ahead of time, but nobody at either store would answer the phone. Oh well, I just ordered one online that'll be here Wednesday, but I was really hoping to pick one up in person so I can have it set up for some guests tomorrow while waiting for the countdown.
Anyway, I bought a couple more games in the current PSN sale so I'll have stuff to play as soon as I unbox that sumdog. Current PSVR2 library:
Resident Evil VIII Village - It's the PS4 version, but it'll upgrade to PS5 for free, just been waiting until I can play it in VR.
Resident Evil 4 Remake - Also been waiting for VR to play it.
Gran Turismo 7 - I wouldn't have bought this if Best Buy didn't have it on sale earlier this month. But at least I know it's not a half-assed VR mode like the PSVR1 GT game.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Switchback VR - I've read it has been patched up enough now that it is the complete game it should've been when it first launched.
Garden of the Sea - I watched the trailer and couldn't help but think this might be the closest we get to an Animal Crossing VR anytime soon.
Ven VR Adventure - I decided not to wait for a sale on this one and just bought it 10 minutes ago. I'm already spending $600 between the headset and Sense VR controller charger, what's another $20?
And my unplayed PSVR1 games that I know offer free upgrades to PSVR2 version:
Beat Saber, Job Simulator, Pistol Whip and Pixel Ripped 1995
I think that'll be enough to keep me busy for a little while, though I might buy another game or two before the PSN sale ends on the 6th. But I really don't want my PSVR2 backlog to get out of control like my PSVR1 backlog did where I'm still trying to catch up to it years later.

It's true that PS4 could do it but PSVR2 can't. The US side of the PSVR2 division is kinda slacking. You can watch 3D movies on this thing...if you have a Japanese PSN account and VPN and super fast internet because you have to stream the movies, they don't download (which imo makes it not worth it if you're outside of Japan). General consensus seems to be if you want VR for more than just gaming, head over to Quest. I think at some point I might end up getting one of those too.
As for roller coasters specifically, as already pointed out there is Epic Roller Coasters you can download for free. I tried one roller coaster on it so far, it was...alright, I guess. I was riding on a track while explosions were going off around me causing boulders to come crashing down. It was kinda cool but awfully quiet (there's no screaming sound effect of other people on the coaster with you, which to me is half the fun of irl coasters).

The idea sounds great but motion sickness kills it. Epic Roller Coasters is one of the only VR games that gives me problems and I have to use the comfort settings to "play" it. The super fast movement plus looking around is awkward.
On Quest what I really like is just standard Youtube has 360` "VR" videos, usually of tourist spots like Machu Picchu, the Vatican, etc. and those are pretty cool. Primarily because they move somewhat slow so it's really comfortable and you can look all around. The fidelity is never amazing though, but it's decent enough for at least the novelty of having full control of the camera when a drone flies around the pyramids of Egypt or whatever.
This one is rather dull but there are some neat things like someone who 360-recorded the Universal Studios Tour:

Epic Roller Coasters made me feel a little funky too. At the start this little robot thing appears and asks if you want to find the right comfort settings, I figured since I already have my "VR legs" I'd ignore the little bastard and jump right in. What a stupid idea that was. I stuck through it and finished the coaster, but I haven't tried any of the others since. I will go back after I've finished what I'm already playing, but I'm not in a hurry.

* 14-Jan(#246)Anyone going to check out Vertigo 2 tomorrow? I guess it has been out on PC for a while and lots of people are calling it one of those "must play games" for VR, so that certainly has me interested. I won't be buying it on day one though, but definitely plan to check it out maybe next month.
Also going to be waiting on reviews for Bulletstorm VR which releases on the 18th. It seems they've barely shown anything of the PSVR2 version specifically, they just show what it looks like on PC VR. I can't think of any reason for that unless it's just a low effort port that won't take advantage of any of the PSVR2 features. I hope I'm wrong though.
edit: Checked out a review of Vertigo 2 on PSVR2 and it seems the game still has issues that need to be fixed. Glitches that will prevent you from knowing what to do to solve puzzles and inconsistent frame-rate (that's the one thing you want to get right in a VR game or you can risk making the player feel sick). Some reviews are still saying it's worth the money though, but I'm gonna wait and hope these issues are fixed via patch.

What am I supposed to use to wipe the lens clean? I thought they'd include something in the box with it, but I don't see anything.

13-Feb(#258)I’m terrible at installing things, and it wasn’t bad at all. I doubt it would void the warranty. You just pop out the panels in the front and back and replace them with cushier ones, and the back piece opens up the ability to use a strap at the top. You can easily snap the OEM parts right back in if you want. It took me about 15 minutes while watching the install video.
I also ordered the comfort mods for the controllers from them that just came out, and they should be here any day now. (They’ve been sitting in a city 45 minutes from me for a week. The shipping service they use by default takes awhile.).

* 14-Feb(#259)Saw quite a few VR games on my wishlist are currently on sale, so I bought some. That old rule I made for myself before I even bought the PSVR2, that I wouldn't allow my VR2 library to get out of control like I did with the VR1 library that I'm still getting around to those games years later, well that rule went out the window within the first few weeks. I can't help it.
I want to say if I haven't already, that it really sucks that Sony put a cap on the number of games you can have in your wishlist at one time. The Steam store and Nintendo eShop have no limit. In the PlayStation Store my wishlist is 95% VR games, but I have to manually keep track of other games I want that won't fit in the wishlist. Ridiculous, especially for the people like me who will throw money at almost anything that looks even slightly interesting. Equally ridiculous is how difficult it is to just open Metacritic to browse reviews of VR games, because unless they are major titles hardly anyone will cover them. You pretty much have to go to YouTube and hunt down channels specifically centered on VR games.
My purchases:
Separation (PSVR1) - I've checked some reviews and saw it compared to Ico and Journey. It was on sale for less than $7.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtKU96SZ194Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery VR - I gifted the non-VR version to one of my friends on Steam last year and she enjoyed it. Without VR I would've never considered giving this game a chance myself. It looks calm and relaxing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7ZpKJ-A64oGalaxy Kart - This game got a lot of crap at launch last year because it felt like an unfinished game. The devs have been listening to player feedback and adding to it ever since, more tracks, more stable online multiplayer, wheel support etc. and it's on sale for $10 now. Something like this is more my taste than Gran Turismo would be (I do own GT7, but am not in a hurry to play it).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8djE2iXphh0Waltz of the Wizard - This is on sale for $8. I don't know much about it other than it does have a 2 player co-op mode (one player in VR, the other using a DualSense controller on the TV). Some of the magic is controlled through your voice as well. I feel like the VR2 mic, the eye tracking and local co-op are features barely any VR2 games support, but according to reviews this one uses all three of them well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJJypeV6OYYAnyway, when I make posts like this it's just to try and bring some awareness to lesser known games. Of course we'd all like more AAA games on VR, but it's really the smaller devs that keep VR afloat until more big name developers are willing to try something new.

22-Feb(#269)I’m excited for two reasons. 1) I have a pretty decent gaming PC that should be able to handle VR but didn’t want to have to buy another headset. Being able to use the one I already like but have access to tons of new games is all win. I’m fine if they don’t incorporate features like haptic feedback if we’re talking about getting to play something without haptics vs. not being able to play it at all. 2) I think this will spur more PSVR2 sales and create a bigger user base to support future game development that does incorporate the unique features of the headset.
As far as concerns from people about the lack of first party PSVR2 games go, people seem to always be pessimistic on gaming websites, and I really don’t get it. The headset is only a year old, and there are reliable people saying that there’s apparently a new Astrobot game in the works (which I’m assuming will be at least VR hybrid. Also, I own 55 PSVR2 games and have only played four of them so far, so I’m in no rush for new first party games. There’s been plenty to play for me.

I agree, better to play them without the haptics than not get to play them at all. It's just that those features were used by many to justify the high price of the VR2. Of course now maybe the price doesn't seem as high because you'll no longer be required to own a PS5 to use it. I just hope most importantly this doesn't discourage devs from still porting their VR games to PS5. Also, I would not be surprised if when they are ready to officially roll out the PSVR2 support for PC, they have an announcement of Gran Turismo 7 PC with VR support right alongside it.

I agree again, there is a lot to play on this thing (not all of it good, but that goes for anything). Even though I've only had mine for just shy of two months, I've been keeping an eye on it since launch. It did have a really good first year and it feels like not enough people will give it credit for that. Like, there are full on consoles that don't have as good of a first year as this optional add-on did.

I never checked any reviews of it, but I know I put it in my wishlist just from your recommendation. The only thing that worried me is I think you called it a rogue-like and that's one genre I usually just can't get into, that's the main reason I only want to buy it during a sale (same for Dead Hook). I expect they'll be on sale again during the inevitable big Summer Sale all the stores do in June/July.

3-Apr(#276)I have only played Red Matter 1 (on Quest 2). It's super chill but I never stuck with it to beat. You mostly just mosey through a facility but it's good looking and was a solid VR experience. I hear RM2 is better but I'd wait for a bigger discount for the bundle if I was you.

Too late.
I've heard RM2 is better also, but neither game was on sale individually and buying Red Matter 2 alone without a sale costs the same price as this bundle on sale. I checked PSDeals.net and so far the bundle hasn't gone cheaper than $29.99

3-Apr(#278)That’s cool. To be honest, you may not get into it like I did if you don’t like roguelites, as it definitely is one. (I’m a big fan of roguelites.)

26-Apr(#281)Looks like Legendary Tales' developers are disappointed in the game's sales and may abandon VR for future projects. I admit I haven't bought the game yet, and it does look really good, it was just the $55 price kinda threw me off (and clearly I'm not the only one). Like, I know during any typical PSN sale I could easily get 3 or 4 other decent VR games equal to the price of just that one game.
They are looking to release the game on Quest and hope that rakes in the money. Don't get me wrong because I really enjoy the PSVR2, but from a potential money standpoint, as an indie dev shouldn't you be targeting Quest first and PSVR2 last?
Anyway, the game certainly addresses one of my common complaints with VR games in that it's a full length (40+ hours) Action/RPG and not something that you will breeze through in a weekend. It also supports 4 player co-op, and I'm a big fan of co-op games, however the friends I play co-op games with have little interest in VR, so I'd be playing this alone or with randoms. They're looking into adding a free trial for PS+ Premium subscribers, so I'll check it out then. I just don't know if I'm ready for this transition into paying higher prices for VR games. I know I'm getting a quality game when Capcom asks full price, but you can never be so sure with indie devs.

26-Apr(#282)I've lost faith in the PSVR2. I thoroughly enjoyed the PSVR and didn't care about cables or fidelity, it was a great experience on PS4.
But then I got a Quest 2 and being untethered was amazing. Meta is a garbage company but they do give coupons and have tons of sales on games. I've rarely had to pay full price for games but at most maybe $30?
With PSVR2 I have been waiting for unique, exclusive games (things like Blood & Truth) to hit but that list is surprisingly small. At this point I think the PSVR2 is going to stall...nowadays the top sellers are hitting multiple systems (Moss, Pistol Whip, Beat Saber, Synth Riders, Star Wars) and Sony isn't pushing very many top-tier exclusives to warrant $500 on top of the $500 system for me.
We have a PS5 but the whole fam is more interested in a standalone Quest 3-lite (which is coming soon and sounds like it'll be "cheaper" than PSVR2) and keeps us untethered + also brings our VR library forward.
I had a lot of PSVR games but the ones I loved the most never got updated for PSVR2 (like Eagle Flight). If the PSVR2 has a version of that, or Half-Life Alyx I'm in.

27-Apr(#283)I saw recently that Quest 2 dropped permanently to $199 and thought "how could I say no to that?" because right now I'm in a VR phase where it's all I want to play...but I know it won't be long until I'll reach the point where I'm tired of it and won't play anything for a couple months, so that makes it difficult to want to add another headset to the mix.
Plus today a trailer was uploaded for a new VR game based on the Alien franchise releasing Holiday 2024, and it specifically had a Quest 3 logo, so that right there changed my mind on a Quest 2 if in just 6 short months new games won't support it already. Granted it has a library of hundreds of titles already and I'm assuming they'd all work on Quest 3, but the price of Quest 3 plus graphical downgrade makes me not as interested anymore. I've heard when media outlets get preview builds of Quest games they are specifically not allowed to make any graphical comparisons between other headsets, nor show blood in any violent games (which is why for the longest time people thought the Bulletstorm VR port wouldn't have gore, but turns out the previews were all just using Quest footage that forbids it). Another thing that bugs me is hearing about The Wizards: Dark Times - Brotherhood on PC VR looked pretty nice graphically. Then once it released on Quest, the PC VR version got a graphical downgrade that some fans suspect was to keep it on an even playing field with Quest. People have been leaving negative reviews for it on Steam and calling it a bait and switch, but one of the devs says they're working on fixing the graphics up again.
With PSVR2, that one single usb-c cable doesn't bother me at all, it has never been a problem, though I don't think I've played any games yet where roomscale setting was the recommended way to play. But if Sony gets their head out of their ass and properly markets this thing, I don't see a reason why we'd need a PSVR3. Like, no reason this shouldn't just work on a PlayStation 6. I feel they've damn near perfected the controllers, and the haptics and eye-tracking are cool features, but few games use them because we get so many lazy Quest ports where the games are built on engines and for headsets that don't support those things. Thankfully that group is at work on porting PS5 flat games to VR, I'd be disappointed if they didn't bother taking advantage of those features. It's rumored Returnal is one of the first games they're working on. I didn't much care for the flat version of it, but I'll give it a second chance in VR (though there are probably a dozen other titles I'd like to see converted to VR instead).
