Might as well get it started. Who's looking forward to it? I personally think that it could beat PS5, that is if they don't screw up. They need a basic UI, more first party titles, and focus only on gaming. They own the license to Rare games, we need to see new Conkers, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, etc. They did alright with Killer Instinct, I'll give them that, but they're sitting on a lot of games that needs remade, remastered, and sequels.
As far as I know, it's slightly more powerful than the PS5, which isn't a big deal. But what is a big deal is that it will come with more storage. XBSX will have 1TB, which I admit, is not much by today's standards. The PS5 will have 825GB, which is ridiculous. I'm guessing that the next gen games will be around 100gb or more in size on average. If that is the case, I expect the discs will be on 4k UHD blu-rays.

I wasn't necessarily complaining, nor sure if you were referencing me, but I did set Yakuza 0 to install just the other night as my selection of installed GP titles was feeling smaller as of late.

I will not complain about GP in general as I've tried, played and beat a bucket load of games via the service in the 3+ years I've had it such that it's been well worth my money. I've also used the Live to GP dollar method twice so it has been a great price period. I've tried games that I learned quickly that I was glad I didn't buy, I played games for basically free that seemed interesting, and I beat games that I likely otherwise wouldn't have even considered. I'm actually okay with the selection shrinking a little vs what I want to play on it, since it'll give me a little more time to focus on the games I actually purchased.

I have not played any of the Yakuza games. I haven't even tried them. What are they most like? I always got the impression they were like weak, Asian versions of GTA. What would be the best one to start with?

I took a few months off of GP because I was getting a little bored. It's still an absolute great value, but I wasn't using it to the fullest, so I decided to take a few months off. I'm back at it now and keeping very busy. My son and I are playing It Takes Two, which is absolutely terrific so far. My only "complaint" is that there are too many rogue-likes and not enough JRPGs at the moment. I tried Ni No Kuni, but it feels a little too much like Pokemon for my taste.

I wasn’t actually talking about anyone specifically but there is a lot of slamming on how bad it is usually, and notably from people that haven’t played Yakuza….shame. 🤣I definitely think it’s always worth it IF you have the time to use it for its value. Like any sub service really though.

Yakuza like GTA? I’ve actually never heard that comparison before. It’s An interesting one, I guess in terms of variety it could be. But first off….you don’t drive….that is until I got to Yakuza 5….dang it these games are actually very hard to explain.

I’ll say this as to where to start: if you like beat ‘em ups: start at Yakuza 0 if for some reason you favor RPGs you could start at Yakuza Like a dragon as it’s a totally different storyline.

Or you could play the Judgement games if you want it more modern, they’re actually cheaper than gamepass nowadays it seems but they’re not on there yet.

I’ve played too much of these. I started during the pandemic. I played like a dragon first then 0-5 and the two judgement games. I’m working through 5 at the moment and have 6 left. And of course the new one in Feb

Ya I don't think people slam it as much as just say how it's not worth retail, but it is worth the discounted price we all pay. There have been some decent games, I personally like the Gears games and even though Halo Infinite shipped incomplete now it looks to be a good experience.

I have never played the Yakuza games, they all looked kind of goofy to me, like hard to take seriously, but I don't know much about them, so may give a shot at some point.

The clips that you’re seeing that are goofy are more of the side quests, which I LOVE! It gets real silly. If you stick to just the main storyline and don’t do side quests I could see it seeming more serious. Gears is also my fav, but I also have the disc so gamepass wasn’t the reason for gears.

Idk how it couldn’t be worth it. You could literally use bing as your search engine and not really pay anything. No other sub service let’s you do that unless I’m mistaken.

What I’m currently doing in Yakuza: trying to survive blizzards in a remote small village. I’m shooting bears and deer and setting traps to catch foxes and rabbits and such. So basically Right now it’s comparable to Big Buck Hunter than anything.

The Yakuza games get kind of tedious after a while, i have a similar feeling about Shenmue.
I loved Yakuza 1 and 2, got tired of 3.
Picked up Like A Dragon recently and i really enjoy the new combat system.

I initially hesitated about getting GP as I've used Bing to earn points for a long while and have a sizable backlog of digital games purchased from redeeming those Bing points. Thus some of the marquee titles I already owned and beat - Gears, Halo, Forza specifically.
I've found that I've played a lot of smaller indie games via GP like Flynn, Omno, Raji, Tunic and many many more. To that end, financially it's maybe not as valuable as those games are cheaper to purchase, but I've also tried a number of games that sucked and that aspect brings greater value, IMO.

Sometimes the biggest difficulty I have is choosing my next game to play, as they've got way over their advertised 100 games. Even after noting earlier that I felt like the number I had installed and looking to play was shrinking some, I have over 55 games that I'm interested in starting or completing.

It’s not a “new combat system”

They literally changed it from a beat ‘em up to a turn based RPG. Which is about the least tedious thing a company could do with their game 🤣

I agree it’s definitely more overwhelming then having a lack of selection. I have enjoyed High on Life but I am admittedly an Justin Roiland Mark at this point.

Thats LITERALLY the definition of a "new combat system", Professor.
Turn based and real time beat em up are different combat systems...

"A major departure from previous Yakuza games is the battle system. Instead of the real-time action beat 'em up mechanics of previous games, Yakuza: Like a Dragon features a real-time turn-based RPG type combat, with a four-person battle team."

The expansion cards were like $120 around Black Friday, i slept on it.
If anything the 500GB gives me more incentive to finish games lol, though right now i have 2 GIANT games installed on my XS (Witcher 3 and Borderlands 3, plus COD Warzone 2.0).
I don't like that there's no way to play the downgraded Xbox One versions anymore. I don't need graphical enhancements on Mortal Kombat 11, so i deleted it and i'll just reinstall it when the boys come over.
Same with The Witcher 3, while i appreciate the free upgrade, i was plenty enjoying the Xbox One version, i wish i could downgrade it back to my Xbox One external.

I remember it being in the first game, but the explanation was really more of an info dump (seemed like a copy/paste of a Wikipedia article). Furiten is probably the hardest concept for people to grasp (judging by the various "Why can't I win?" images posted in certain mahjong forums)

It wasn't until years later when I was sick one day and stayed home from work, this YouTube video popped up in my stream:

https://youtu.be/ooY4Ylz0WNQ

Once I understood the basics of classical mahjong from that video, I found the rules for Japanese Mahjong to be a nice step up, but the game is 10x better than the increase in learning load.

Now I own three sets of tiles (Chinese with letterd and numbers in the corners, Japanese with no notations, and American style which is almost an entirely different game), and maybe a dozen or so mahjong video games.

When the big emulation boom hit in the early 2000s, i got a SNES emulator and a TON of ROMS and got addicted to a Japanese only Mahjong game, but it had pretty easy to follow English instructions with a nice tutorial.
Tutorial's are in EVERY game now, but can you imagine a game from the early 90s having a built in English tutorial?
One of those ROMS taught me Chinese Chess as well, and i've become obsessed with that. I own a few Chinese Chess sets, its so different than anything else we have.

That's nuts - do you remember what game it was? I've never seen a Japanese released Mahjong game with any significant amount of English (usually just menus).

As a side note, while it's great every game nowadays seems to have a tutorial, I shate that many of them are still unskippable.

The X/S Version of Werewolf: The Apocalypse is $10. I've been waiting for this game since 2009. It's the same indie level studio that did the fantastic stealth game Styx: Master of Shadows.
Ignore the reviews, it's a throwback to ridiculous, gory button mashers. It's a stealth game when you're a human or wolf and then if you if get caught or get angry during a conversation/interrogation, you turn into this ridiculous werewolf with a ton of powers. Graphics look fine for an indie game trying to make a AAA game, the animations on your character are great and the monsters look fantastic. The soundtrack is a well done thrash metal instrumental type.
It reminds me of Hulk Ultimate Destruction because LITERALLY everything is destructible in the game.
It's worth $10 bucks and i'm enjoying it more than most AAA games i've played recently.

I enjoyed it for a night but it gets old really fast. Then you notice how dull, repetitious, and actually broken it is. You can just ignore stealth altogether and just fight everybody and it makes no difference. So why have the stealth at all? And why make a werewolf game where you're inside buildings 90% of the time and all of them look identical?

How does Werewolf compare to the newest GunGrave title?
I rather enjoyed the 2x PS2 GunGrave games, but that was a long time ago and I traded them away. The newest one I was excited for but after 1 play session and just 1 boss I wasn't very good and didn't like it too much. I need to give it a 2nd chance...

The newest Gungrave is awful. Barely could get through it.
I'm still enjoying the hell out of werewolf. It's exactly what I wanted. Not every game has to be an epic piece of art. Werewolf is certainly the Michael Bay of games, fast, fun and rediculous. I don't even try to be stealthy anymore. I'm not trying to get the good ending.

Is the Doom 3 in Gamepass the updated one withe the flashlight mod?
Also, is Dishonored Death of an Outsider worth playing? I wanted to get another shooter or two in before Atomic Heart drops on Gamepass.

FYI Donut Country is set to leave GP at the end of the month, if you haven't played it yet it's likely worth your 2 hours. I found it enjoyable and it's not too hard to get all of the achievements if you care.

Worms WMD, Telling Lies and a Japanese titled Drum Master game is also leaving the service.

For the life of me, no matter the way I try to play Gamepass or my Xbox through my Steam Deck remotely, it lags and makes it unplayable. It's either a half second to a second delay, massive frame dips or both. My Xbox just isn't in a spot I normally play in and remote play would be way better.
