* 22-Jan-2023(#2)Review embargo ends tomorrow. It’s the next big game I’m playing. Mine was actually scheduled to arrive today early but then got delayed. It’s 5 hours from my house, so I’m assuming I’ll be able to play it tomorrow night or Tuesday night. I’ll report back.

22-Jan-2023(#4)That seems to be a pretty common opinion. I wonder if the demo did more harm than good.

23-Jan-2023(#7)Woof not impressed from this review.
https://youtu.be/oFvRXyPAyf8Truth be told, game was hardly on my radar but based on ACG's commentary it's an easy pass. Playing as an 'angry teen' who never grows out of that and drops F-bombs constantly in a beautiful yet barren and pointless world... No thanks. Looks-wise it reminded me of HZD and ACG even compared the titles, but that's about where the positives end, shame.

23-Jan-2023(#9)Preordered already. Probably will regret it but w/e. Shipped today.

23-Jan-2023(#10)I thought about just returning mine when it comes in, but I think I might still give it a chance and play it, because it looks like something I would enjoy even with the mediocre reviews. Days Gone is at 71 on metacritic, but I loved that game.

Even with the low metacritic reviews generally were positive for Days Gone. Most people complained about the side quests, story and traversal but others praised the story and some side quests. Forspoken seems to have a acceptable but not great story, collectiblefest, empty world, bad side quests but an interesting combat system. This kind of reminds me of Sonic Frontiers. A ton of collectibles, forgettable story but an interesting combat system.

Dude I loved Days Gone as well! Definitely the most underrated game of last gen, imo.
I say download and play the Forspoken demo. It took me about an hour to finish it so you get a very good feel for what it has to offer.

* 23-Jan-2023(#15)I just watched the ACG video. This game does seem pretty bad. I think I'm going to return my copy after all. The dialogue is annoying even in small snippets.

23-Jan-2023(#17)Callisto Protocol was actually decent. I platinumed it.

I haven't played it myself, but apparently the game's sales aren't so hot and I assume the reviews might have played a role in that.

23-Jan-2023(#19)It seems like the developers or publisher is pushing to get Forspoken out, even if it is panned by most players.

My thoughts as well. Gonna return mine.
The steelbook hasn't even shipped yet. Wonder If I can just return the game and 'forget' about bringing back the steel book ...

24-Jan-2023(#22)Apparently, it also has a glitched trophy that currently makes the platinum unobtainable. One more reason to wait.

24-Jan-2023(#24)Near miss games can be a lot of fun with adjusted expectations (and price points).
Bleed_DukeBlue
24-Jan-2023(#25)Yeah. I’ll still play it eventually. I just got mine and am about to return it for a gift card that I’ll probably use to rebuy it later for cheap. In the meantime, I just bought God of War Ragnarok on PS5 locally off of OfferUp for $25, so I’ll be firing that up tonight instead.

24-Jan-2023(#26)(in regards to people still playing this when they can buy it cheap) Cheap games that aren't good still aren't worth playing............

24-Jan-2023(#27)You don't know if it will be a hit for you unless you try it. No one (at the time) had anything good to say about Days Gone, but I gave it a shot when it was $15. It ended up being one of my favorite PS4 games. Who knows about this one, but I do know that I'll be much more likely to try it at $15 versus $70,

24-Jan-2023(#28)Here’s the thing. I often buy games when they first come out (still discounted via buying discounted gift cards) and then resell them after I beat them for close to what I paid. That’s harder to do with a game with mediocre reviews. That being said, I’m still interested in playing it. I’ve liked plenty of games in the score range of Forspoken before, and I like spell-casting fight mechanics. When it’s cheaper, it’ll be worth taking a chance on for me.

25-Jan-2023(#29)Well my copy is coming in tomorrow or Friday, issue is my Dead Space copy is coming in on Friday and I will be playing that for sure.

Days Gone was epic. Good post.

26-Jan-2023(#31)I’m still sad that Sony shot down Bend’s pitch for Days Gone 2. I really wanted to see where the story was going to go.

I bet they’re rethinking that.

26-Jan-2023(#33)This game is peepee poopoo

26-Jan-2023(#34)@Bleed_DukeBlue At least they gave as a teaser ending that can stand alone (sort of like the first Matrix movie). If nothing else maybe we can get an adaptation of the story.

* 31-Jan-2023(#36)Everything I've heard from coworkers about Forspoken sounds meh. There is some fun to be had but it's all a bit clumsy. All of the video reviews I've watched point to this being a decent AA title but it's lacking the magic to make it a must play.
As for Days Gone, I just recently gave that a whirl via PS+ and absolutely loved it. I would definitely be interested in a sequel.

* 1-Feb-2023(#37)I think my favorite feature is the accessibility mode (aka journalist mode aka "accessibility in Elden Ring has nothing to do with difficulty!" mode) where the game just auto-dodges every attack made against you so you can focus on the auto-generated and animated exposition cutscenes between NPCs and your plain white bread protagonist in between circle strafing tap one button to shoot lemons fights and endless runner mode. PS5 exclusives are getting so good man!
Kommie
1-Feb-2023(#38)I totally use easy modes like that on some games just to beat them.

* 1-Feb-2023(#40)I wouldn't mind nearly so much if the game actually had a good story. The most interesting thing about Frey is that ..she's from the world you're inhabiting.
neat
Like, if the story is typically your reward for combat, I'm looking for a greater than 5/10 experience and I ain't seeing it, combat feels like a wheeze of fresh air instead, I'd rather slash tires in the parking lot
