For those of you planning on playing, what is your main pawn vocation?

I was thinking we could all share our pawn info here, what system we are playing on and our username/tag for that system. So we can add each other and rent/use each others pawns for no cost while also helping each other earn RC. We had a post like this 12 years ago for the original game as well. So some of us might already be on each others friends list.

For those that didn't play the first or do not know how this works... (just in spoiler tags for a cleaner topic, not actual game spoilers)

You can rent pawns on your friends list for free. There is no currency cost (rift crystals).
This is regardless of the pawns level compared to yours. So even if their pawn is 30 levels higher than you it is still free as they are on your friends list.
For any pawns not on your friends list, you have to pay RC (rift crystals).
The ones close in level to you are usually fairly cheap. But the farther way in level the more they cost.
In the first game after 10 levels above the cost jumped pretty big. Anything lower level than you is free no matter what.
There will be some pre-made ones that will be free and a bunch of lower level ones that cost basically nothing populated by the devs.
Those are there to let people get a full party early before you earn any RC yourself.
But using another persons pawn gets them RC in return, and experience for their pawn. Not the cost you pay. This is based on how long you use them, how much xp they earn while in your party and how you rate them at the end.
You use your pawn at all times. Even when others are using it.
After someone uses it and releases them, the next time you check in at an inn or camp site, you get the rewards from them using it.
You are also asked to send a gift by the game, which is optional after using them.
Most people send you consumable items or things to sell for money. But some will give you good armor or weapons if they found your pawn useful.
So using someones pawn from your friends list can benefit you both. They get RC, and you get a better than basic level entry pawn. However, not on day one.

Are you playing this weekend? I'm still undecided on mine. I've made two mages and an archer. But I'm not sure which one I'll use. Or if I want to switch them to a fighter. I've spent too much time in the character creator making pawns over the last week. Game drops in 10 hours or so and I have no idea.

Yeah, homes are completely pointless. I get why they didn't want to expand on them though. Due to losing them when going into a NG+ cycle. But there should be some benefit to owning them. Other than worthless gifts every few hours. I like the cooking and bathing idea. If you own one of the expensive houses you should be able to do that stuff.

I had a hard time with my pawn quests too. Like they rarely get done. Even for great rewards. People only seem to care about them when they are broke. Then after that they just rent the pawns they want regardless of quest. And no one is broke anymore due to the top rated pawns all being low level and offering 12 onyx for an arrow. So everyone rents those, sells the onyx and gets like 400K gold. Now no one cares about helping people with killing things for 10K gold. They spent all the money they needed to buy everything they wanted, and still have a bunch left over. And if they want more they just re-rent the onyx pawns. Its so dumb. It makes the quests system pointless when people exploit it like that.

So funny you mention this because I just discovered this yesterday. And now it makes sense why so few of my pawn quests get completed. I'd gotten most of my gold so from just selling off stuff I collect and by taking pawn quests. Once in a while I'd find a pawn in the rift with one of those "random item for 10k" or "random arrow for 12 onyx/jasper" quests and I'd favorite that pawn and rehire them every once in a while. But since I switched to Wayfarer I've been spending far too much money on outfits so I decided to see if I could find more of those pawns and then stumbled on the monthly rankings and...wow! Spent about 30 mins hiring pawns and completing their quests and made like 500k. It definitely kills the quest system if people just exploit it. I'm glad I didn't discover it on my first playthrough because the pawn quest loop and having to be mindful of how much money you're spending on ferrystones/armor/upgrades is part of what makes the game so great, imo.

Anything that takes away from actually playing the game / traveling kind of defeats the purpose. If you really focus on playing - money comes fast and so do levels. Although there is definitely a huge curve in costs for the “late game” gear- which you can find very early on. I’m almost done with first playthrough it seems and I only leveled 3 jobs. No grinding just moved it along.

Yeah, I think people exploring so much and getting to the end game gear early and seeing 80K-150K gold for an item is what started that pawn quest to get rich thing. Not realizing that was the end game gear. That was as good as it got. And since you are now not working towards getting it because you already have it. You have taken away part of the carrot of playing the game. The stick now only has one carrot instead of two.

Anyone using the Wayfarer class, what abilities combos you try out that are enjoyable?

I think a combo for augural flame could be good with an ability that hits multiple times fast

Augural Flare + Helm Splitter combo is probably insane but I haven't tried it out yet.

I'm rolling Magick Archer + Sorcerer atm and my initial plan was to pair Augural Flare with just the regular Rivet Shot attack (6 arrows in really quick succession) or with Sagittate Avalanche (tons of arrows at once and great DPS). But for me the way they implemented the Rearmament skill is really cumbersome. By the time I hit an enemy with Augural Flare and do all the button presses to get Sagittate Avalanche off, the window is already closed. If the goal was to limit the number of skills you have access to so you don't completely break the game, then why not just give us 4 skills and have the weapons switch automatically? Unless I'm missing something and that wouldn't work for some reason. And if that doesn't work maybe just limit it to like 3 class combinations at a time. Keep the Rearmament skill, but then we have 9 skills total to play with.

But I do like it because I get to mix things up with two classes while still being ranged 100% of the time. And of course the fashion!

The problem with trying to pull off combos like that with Augural Flare. Is as soon as you put your staff away by changing weapons, it cuts the timer on Augural flare by almost half of its remaining time. And since you are not playing as a sorcerer, it already has the time cut down by a few seconds. So if you cast it, switch weapons, its gone in like a second. You can't really do anything with that. They did this on purpose to prevent OP combos with switching weapons it appears. There was a whole big post about this on the reddit like a week ago I saw where some guy playing on PC tested all this stuff and posted his findings. Every class is a bit weaker and your effects/spells from mage/sorc are nurfed when using warfarer. For example weapon enchantments last something like 8 seconds less when using warfarer vs mage. And you heal for slightly less with the healing spell. And things like the thief explosive charge hits for less.

Ah! Makes sense now. So lame. They should have spent more time focusing on how to make the class fun instead of worrying about balance in a game where pretty much every class is already super OP.

This is one of the few games where the physical classes (thief, archer) are so much more fun for me vs the magic ones. The visceral feel of the climbing and stabbing, arrows etc is great.

The trickster is pretty cool. I found a weapon that gives me gold with each whack- at least 10, often 100 and rarely 1000. I’m not sure but it may have given me a few gems too. Went on a long walk and got 100k pretty quickly. I think I got the weapon from the

sphynx

but not sure.

New update today. Unfortunately my hired pawns still stand in water until they die unless I can Hasselhoff them 2 feet to safety. I tend to avoid watery areas.

I'm annoyed that Capcom listened to all the little whinny doges that complained about dragons plague. They nerfed it in this patch. Which is just stupid. It should have been turned up to 11. It rarely happens. And is easily avoided. It should have been made to make it harder to detect so it happens more often. So dumb.

I saw one pawn with it and I thought it was scripted. She appeared at the stone behind the ancient battlefield and tried to join me. I could see the red eyes pretty clearly. Then it popped a little tutorial about the condition. Haven’t seen it since.

Exactly, it was super easily avoidable if you didn't want it to happen. But people lost their minds to hysteria and false info about it from social media. Mainly reddit and youtube. There is still massive bad info about it all over reddit. Its insane. People post crap daily like "my pawn said this thing (Straightforward inclination common saying) so it has DP right?". And 3/4ths of the replies are like "yes, kill it now. Same thing happened to me, kill it immediately!". I actually ended up unsubing from the reddit for the game because of all the insane bullcrap that gets posted. Its nothing but hate and miss-information about the game. Which is actually 90% of reddit these days. I honestly don't even know why I still use the site. Every gaming sub is full of people just crapting on a game and complaining about it. Instead of just talking about it. Or providing useful info about it.
