I'm starting to look for a specifically because of Horizon, so that would be what I would play if I can score one.

Good thing I don't care about these expensive collector edition stuff. But it's not good to have so many big games come out so close together. I will eventually buy all three of these. Its really hard to choose tbh.
Like if I got all three at the same time, I feel like I would rush thru them and not give them the time that each game would deserve. I will probably go with Dying Light and Elden Ring at first.

Yeah, it’s pretty rough, and I already have all three pre-ordered. I’m playing Horizon first, as I loved HZD. I’m in less of a hurry to play Dying Light 2, as I’m only a little bit into the first game and have a long way to go. Elden Ring seems like it’s gonna be great, but I also suspect it’s going to be brutally difficult, so I’ll have to be in the right mindset for that one lol.

@SilverOwl agreed, I feel like there's a rush to beat one to get to the next, not fully enjoying what you're playing.

I won't be getting any at launch, though if I did it'd be a tough decision on which to start first (well, between two of them at least).

I enjoyed Horizon: Zero Dawn very much, so much so that I took the time to get the Platinum Trophy for it and that's something I have done for very few games. I still need to go through the DLC and I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel, but I probably won't get it until I can get my hands on a PlayStation 5.

Dying Light 2, I played through the first game twice and then the expansion. I really enjoyed it, one of my favorite co-op games ever. Unfortunately I no longer play with the same friend I did all that with and I don't know if I'd want to play it with anyone else and I certainly don't want to play it single player. Maybe I'll see if I can reconnect with that friend at some point.

Elden Ring is not even a blip on my radar. It's something I see get talked about around here, but I have little interest in it personally.

I've been working thru so many games on the backlog that I'm content to wait on new releases. I've been taking a break since I just beat Dark Souls Remastered (51 hours). Been catching up on streaming shows. Just finished The Morning Show - Season 2 (not good) and Cobra Kai - Season 4 (great), and just started The Witcher - Season 2.

Probably will play Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy next.

I’m kinda in the same boat as @Sun. Currently working on my backlog. I’ll have both Elden Ring and Horizon on day one, but I doubt I’ll play either right away. Pretty hyped for both, though!

Dying Light has just never really spoken to me for some reason. And that’s strange because it’s basically Mirror’s Edge with zombies and i love both those things. I remember watching footage of the first game and it just looked so…brown. And the main character just seemed like a glorified errand boy. It was an easy pass for me, but I know people really enjoyed it.

Dying Light is one of only two games I've played through twice in the past decades (other being Hollow Knight). It starts slow but man it gets good.

I couldn’t imagine playing Hollow Knight again. Probably because there were some tough optional bosses I could never beat. Amazing game though. Definitely looking forward to Silksong.

Silk Song is my top most look forwarded to game, legit can't wait! HK was so insanely good.

Didn’t finish Horizon 1 yet so I’ll wait until the summer to get it, it’ll probably be 39.99 or less on sale by then. Hyped for Elden Ring day 1, and will be getting Dying Light 2 once my friends all get it and have time for it

Dying Light 2 devs have clarified, 20 hours for Main Story, 80 for main and side quests, 500 for everything. 500 still seems absurd though.

500 hours doesn't sound that unreasonable since I'm assuming it's multiple playthroughs.
The map on the first game was decently big as it is, then the expansion added so much more to it. I expect it to be even bigger again in the sequel.

500 hours is absurd unless they’re including some type of multiplayer component lol. I played dying light multiple times and the dlc and barely hit 300 hours doing everything and some MP

So, I had no idea they were putting Dying Light 2 on the Switch. It's been delayed for Switch, not sure why anyone would want to play it there, but it'll eventually be there.

Wasn't Elden Ring the one that had George RR Martin writing stuff for too? (I rather liked Cyberpunk to be fair but no replay value.)
I haven't kept up with this one as I thought it was years out from us yet.

GRRM did some lore stuff, no actual writing AFAIK.

Could argue fantasy lore is writing. I know he was pushing it a bit last year on Facebook.

Ultimately I'll probably have to go with Dying Light because I'm currently on bed rest and will probably (hopefully) have a new baby in early March if I make it that long. So I might get Elden Ring and not have any time to play it. While right now I've literally got al the time in the world

I'm probably going to immediately play DL2 the most due to playing co op with my son. We did DL1 together all the way through the main story, it's a lot of fun that way. Looking forward to Elden Ring as well

Am I dumb or is DL2 CE only PS4? It has a free upgrade but I don't see a PS5 version. I caved and got one from the Amazon restock (still in stock, surprisingly).

Reviews are saying Dying Light 2 is full of bugs. Someone at IGN on PS5 got a corrupt save file.

Bug Alert! If your tolerance for bugs is low, I do not recommend jumping into Dying Light 2 on day one. Or day 10. Maybe day 30? I was able to play it to completion, but only barely: leading up to launch it is absolutely drowning in a sea of upsetting technical issues, whether it’s crashing (which happened to me dozens of times in my more than 80 hours with it on Xbox Series X and to others at IGN on PlayStation 5 and PC), all dialogue stopping during cutscenes, all audio being replaced with a loud screeching noise, getting locked out of quests because a character won’t let you talk to him or being unable to finish because the objective never spawned in, uneven framerates making me seasick, and too many more to list here. Most glitches are temporary annoyances or even amusing wonkiness, but some are more dire – one IGN editor playing on PS5 had his entire save file corrupted, leaving him with a never-ending loading screen and locking him out of his save pending an upcoming patch. Normally I expect a certain lack of polish in ambitious, open-world games, but even with my expectation for jankiness set to maximum, Dying Light 2 has been really, really rough. The longer I played, the more frequent the issues seemed to become; by the end I was having to quit out and reboot multiple times per hour, and breathed a huge sigh of relief when credits rolled and something hadn’t catastrophically broken my save file. In terms of stability issues and the danger of losing progress, it’s been considerably more severe than our experience with the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077, where the bugs we hit were mostly visual in nature. Techland is aware of all of this and is reportedly hard at work on patches to address it, but if history is any indication it’s going to take more than a few real-world day-night cycles to sort out this many issues.


Can't say it's surprising.

They were too busy formulating a 5 year live service plan to release a finished product. The idea of patches/updates has given so many of these devs the license to release unpolished games. It’s disappointing but I’m honestly getting kinda numb to it all at this point.

I wasn't planning on getting it at launch anyway with Elden Ring at the end of the month. This just confirms my hesitancy.

Interesting. Debating cancelling the CE in hopes it sees a price drop. They seemed to have made a lot of them. Amazon had it available last week for a full week. Won't play it till after Horizon and Elden Ring for sure with the above report.

Or just wait a few months and grab them for $20 a pop used. Hell, usually after a week, I see $60-70 games on Facebook Marketplace for $40-45.

Disappointing about Dying Light 2. I have not preordered it yet but I was planning on playing on PC.

Anyone experience Dying Light 2 yet? I read mostly good reviews on it but it is stutter-y on Steam/PC. I'm itching to get it but with my backlog have held off.

I've played about an hour or a little more on PS5 & PS4. I like it, but I really loved Dying Light 1 as well. I've had a few glitches but so far it's good.

only thing i learned the hard way (i could have googled it), was there's no cross gen, so now i have a save on my ps4 and a different one on ps5. strangely enough it kinda works out because i want one i play with just my son and one i play with other randoms. if anyone wants to play DL2 on PS5 add me! psn is akfamayn

So... Dying Light 2 was delayed shipping because of snow. Horizon shows up while we're out of state with family, Elden Ring while family in town.

I was stoked that I was going to have a week or two off between with a new job, fell through.

Gonna be some late nights and an angry wife when I finally get time to play these games.

Playing DL2. Yikes. It’s not buggy so far but just dumb as hell what’s going on. The gameplay is pretty mediocre too. They say the funniest stuff. Lol @ the UV lights… and not having one

I’m having a pretty good time with it at the moment personally. Just a kinda dumb parkour zombie game - more of the first really. Story is okay enough to move things along, as long as you aren’t expecting The Last of Us, you’ll be fine I think.

Has anyone changed their path on what they're playing first? Haven't seen a bunch of banter on HFW.

I only briefly saw some minor issues with Horizon, doesn't seem to be enough to delay first play through in favor of Elden Ring. Whereas sounds like DL2 has some issues that need to be fixed.

Hoping to start Horizon tonight but man... I feel like I need Elden Ring more. Always the option of playing both concurrently but that takes away from the experience in my opinion.

I’m currently rotating Sifu, DQ XIs and HFW.

I am interested in HFW, but since it dropped on my wife's birthday and I still haven't scored a PS5 and am not really interested in playing it on my I simply don't have the option to play it. I actually need to find a good deal on a 43" TV, I sold mine to my mother in a pinch as I thought I had a line on a good deal to replace it, but that sold out before I could purchase it, so my 2nd TV has been downgraded to an okay 32" JVC, but I miss the extra screen size.

Dude, wow. Opened HFW Regalla just now. Wayyyyy bigger than expected. It doesn't fit the spot I had for it by like half a damn inch.

The inside box is a bit jacked up, also the double disc steel box, with no disc.

A bit irritated for $280, but very stoked to play.

Heading west in HFW, so clearly much more to see... Yet, while it's fantastic so far, I think switching to Elden Ring next weekend may happen. More so because Elden Ring is more unique and I'm itching for that type of game as of late. Will see how the week progresses but right now leaning towards a pivot.

HFW is pretty great. Story is riveting even. Make sure you visit the melee pit training ASAP because I suffered through 2-3 hours of noobdom by not doing it.

I went with HFW, I had planned on waiting and my wife's friend got it and it was enough to push me to get it. Going to start it this week, finishing up Spiderman but it seems like progression is slowing down the further I get into the story... Though it feels like I am near the end but it says I am 72% done the main story.

Was going to go with DL2, but I probably need to play DL1 first... So I am going to wait.

I want to play Elden Ring, I don't know. I want to play it but I have never tried a Rouge like game... I need to find one to cut my teeth on I suppose.

HFW is quite fantastic. Just made it to the embassy/west... This map is about to blow up.

I got overwhelmed there. And bored. It’s pretty same ole TBH. I’ll try to dig it out. But roughly not fun now.

HFW is just too gosh darn big. I'm already over leveled for current main quest level recommendation ... And I'm not (yet) doing every side thing.

The game is absolutely fantastic though. Quite happy with it. Story is blowing up (post Gaia) and can't wait to see what's further West. New weapons are cool, but don't find myself using the gauntlet or boltcaster (yet).

Wish we could respecc skills, the trees are fantastic but I find myself regurally altering my play style, which keeps it fresh and fun, but want other skills!

Yeah it gets better every time I play it. Very impressed with the ranged combat.

Happy to see they have a patch rolling out to address quite a few issues. I've continued to get hit by bugs that require me to reload a game. That and the annoying lack of map updates when you complete a Firegleam (not all, but some).

Seems to be a pretty spot on 1 hour = 1% if you're doing everything. At 60/60. Have one legendary bow and a legendary armor so far. Hoping to get more legendary weapons as I don't want to blow upgrading materials on very rare gear. Still, the legendary upgrade requirements are a bit intense.

My OCD is so addicted to this game. Non stop stuff to do. While the fighting can be repetitive, it's fun if you make it fun.

Now that I learned valors can be upgraded, it's great switching between them for bigger battles and changing up the approach. Yet still, when lazy, traps just dominate.

Lazy? My man you earned the right to wreck it. Bust it up.

The 1 to 1 is splitting a bit.

70 hours, 75% done. Finally met all the machines. Last couple are amazing. Thunderjaw no longer top dog.

71 hours, 76%... Spent time tonight fully upgrading my armor and hunter bow. Still working on the sharpshot bow. The upgrades for Legendary gear are a bit ridiculous TBH, they definitely didn't scale this well.

Nearing end of game. At 80%.

I'm angry at myself for getting caught up in the nonsense. I should finish and get to Elden Ring... Instead, I'm running around hunting crabs, catching fish, and shooting owls so I can finish all the pouch upgrades.

I will say this, as is any game like this (that I never follow my own advice), do more of the main story before chasing the shinnies. Clearly there's the known back tracking you see early on... But modes of transportation gets far better later in the story, that I could have been at 50 hours ago. Idiot.
