Summary

While overall this is a great game to play, there are some shortcomings that keep me from giving it an A+ rating. The game has great graphics, music, and sounds with lots of things to do. Some elements from original 2 need brought back. Great overall!

Description

This game is true to the series "A Post Nuclear RPG." The incorporated FPS style of game turned out to be better than I thought it would be, albeit with a limited view during hectic battle times. The graphics are awesome as long as you have a vid card with enough kick to get the full effect of the graphics.

The music, sounds and effects while playing the game are great. You can either listen to some addicting oldies music, some classical violin playing, or listen to the Enclave babble on and on about how great a society (wasteland) you live in.

Disappointingly the entire environment (except for vehicles) is non destructible, even with the most powerful weapon!! That said, blowing up an area with more than a few vehicles sitting around is a pretty cool sight (be sure to stand back to watch the fireworks so you don't get caught in the blast).

Aside from the main quest there are plenty of places to explore and side quests to complete, some with corny rewards and others with some cool things, like schematics for different types of weapons. The armor situation is fairly disappointing though. The best armors in the game are unavailable for you to wear until you get near the end of the game (what a bummer), but the best weapons are available as soon as you can find them and some ammo.

Overall this is a solid RPG/FPS style game that stays fairly true to the original Fallout series. Hardcore Fallout fans will probably feel a little put off by some things, but overall will enjoy the very long awaited 3rd installment of this great franchise. Those that are new to Fallout will enjoy the game from start to finish and we will all wait to see where Bethesda goes with Fallout in the future.
