Description

I'll break this down into individual elements of the game.

Gameplay - Very fun. I found it hard to put down the controller. Not nearly as repetitive as the first, and the scares are well-placed and quite frequent. My heart was pounding almost through the entire game. The environments are new and stay fresh, also unlike the first. Once you get settled in, gunning down your enemies is immensely fun. And with interactive cover, the experience feels much more real.

Graphics - It should be noted that I played this in HD.

Overall pretty good. The blood effects are somewhat exaggerated and unrealistic. The enemies and environments, though, are very well done. The helmet the character wears gives a kind of fuzzy screen, but it's not bad.

Storyline - Quite interesting, ending was a shocker. It's not the kind of storyline where you can't wait for the next revelation, but it's good enough.

Controls - Easy to get used to for the most part. Can be annoying sometimes if you're used to traditional shooter control schemes. I found myself pressing the grenade button and medkit button multiple times by accident, but eventually I got past it.

Sound - Brilliant. The moans and groans of the spirits/ghosts/etc. are bone-chilling. The enemies no longer deafen you with their voices, as in the first. The dialogue doesn't sound fake at all. All the other sounds that make up the game are equally great.

Replay value - Not much there. There's no bonus features to unlock, and the game isn't the kind you want to go back and play 3 times over. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great game, but it's a horror game. After your first time through, the scare factor is basically gone. The only reason to play through again would be to get trophies you missed. And that can be done through level select.

Length - Average. Not too short, not too long. Leaves you wanting more. In my opinion, they hit the perfect length.

So overall, it's a great game for anyone who's a fan of shooters and/or horror. Definitely worth the asking price.
