Description

KISS: Psycho Circus.....This is a must have album for any KISS fan (The KISS Army).

This album was released in 1998, and as I said in the summary, this is the return of ALL the original members who started KISS and made the band part of rock 'n roll history. Yes, whether you love or hate this band, you cannot deny that their influence and longevity in the music world is undeniable and known from one end of this earth to the other. Artists today (ie: Marilyn Manson) who are trying to shock parents and other authority figures need to thank KISS for paving the way, because they were one of the first bands to do "shock rock". I mean come on, you know there was a very audible collective "gasp" heard all over this country when people first saw Gene Simmons spit blood (fake blood of course) all over his bass guitar.

The original members, and players on this album are: Gene Simmons a.k.a. "The Demon" (Vocals, Bass), Paul Stanley a.k.a. "The Starchild" (Lead vocals, Lead and Rhythm guitar), Ace Frehley a.k.a. "Space Ace" (Vocals, Lead and Rhythm guitar), and Peter Criss a.k.a. "The Catman" (Vocals, Drums).

As far as what kind of music KISS plays, it is pretty obvious that they are rockers. It is your typical rock music, they were known to be part of the heavy metal bands during the 80s, and over the years as they continue to put out records, they have not really changed their music style that much. They have gone through a few changes in the line-up, but the two founding members Paul and Gene have stayed together throughout the years, changing guitarist and drummers when the situation calls for it. On this record, there is a few ballads, and some kick-ass rocking tunes. There are also a few songs where Ace and Peter sing lead vocals which surprisingly, they do rather well.

There are 10 tracks on this CD, and one of the neatest things about its packaging is that it comes in a holographic clear plastic CD case. The front cover art is holographic and so is the art work under the CD itself. A couple of my favorite tunes off of this album is the Title track "Psycho Circus", and track #5, "We Are One", a very nicely done song.

As I look at my ticket stub right now that I always keep in the CD's themselves, I would also like to add that if you had ever gotten a chance to see these guys in concert, then you would have surely had the greatest concert experience of your life. I was lucky enough to see the "Farewell Tour" in 2000, and so far that was the best show I have ever seen. Amazing, excellent, etc. If you never got to see them live, then I say that you missed out BIG TIME !!!!!!!!

And finally, I would like to mention that this CD is enhanced. If you put it into your computer, you will get a menu that allows you to either play it on your media CD player or check out some enhanced extras. The latter includes screen savers, and access to the official KISS website where you can sign up and join the KISS Army fan club (which I am told, is a very cooool thing to be a member of). Someday I might even consider becoming a member of that fan club. You are suppose to be able to get discounts on excellent KISS merchandise, and I think there is also a fan newsletter that you can get a subscription to.

Long live the KISS Army, and I am proud to be called a KISS fan !!!!!!!!!!!

Your Rock-N-Roll Junkie,
Bobby
