A resent post got me thinking… how old is this community? Are we a bunch of oldies or are there some much younger users among us? I’m 47 been active on GTZ since 2009 (former TGN user). What say you?

That reminded me that when Windows came out, I joked on a BBS that I had typed Windows backwards (SWODNIW) into my DOS system and it typed back: "Satan Willing Operators to Develop New, Insidious Warez".

Windows got a lot of hate when it was first introduced. I recall one of the common derogatory statements was, "I'll find Windows useful when I grow a third arm."

The company I worked for had Windows 95 (skipped 3.1) installed on all of the computers, had professionals come in to train everyone, and then got mad because they kept catching people playing solitaire. I can't recall if they had the IT guy delete it altogether or just remove the icon, but those of us who were a little more tech savvy would simply go to the subdirectory and activate it from there.

This is a story as old as time. Nobody likes change at first. People still behave this way when anything new is introduced.

Reminds a little of me in high school. I wasn't super-savvy with computers but definitely more so than the average kid. That gained me the privilege of using the class computer in my student government class. Of course I took advantage and installed Doom on it and played on mute while the teacher and other kids were busy with other things. Ended up getting caught one day after I couldn't exit my game fast enough and was yelled at by the teacher, lol. If only there was a boss key!

I never used a "boss key", but I knew they existed. As I recall, Leather Goddesses of Phobos had a boss key that brought up a fake spreadsheet ... for adult toys.

In high school, we had a computer class with a Novell network. First thing I did was make a fake login screen program. It showed a screen that LOOKED like the Novell login, but was really just my program, of course. It allowed you to type your name and password, stored it in my account directory, displayed a message that the password was incorrect -- and then immediately logged me out -- which would cause the real login screen to appear again. So, at the end of class, I'd just leave that running. Whoever sat at that PC the next hour would see my fake login page, try to log in, get a message that they typed their password wrong, then get a new login screen and log in just fine. So, they'd never think that they had been hacked, of course -- just that they made a typo.

Took less than a week to get the admin password when the teacher actually logged in on a PC that I left it on.

Good times. smile

This is the game where you’re like joined together and have to complete tasks and evade trouble as mini puppets through elaborate, seemingly giant rooms and spaces? I think I played this with my nephew. Not a game I would typically go for on my own but the team work and how well done the game was I really enjoyed.

Also I am 41. With the back of a 62 year old man and I’ll have been here 10 years in May. What a ride.

You may be thinking of Unravel, which is also good. But, "It Takes Two" was better, in my opinion (it's just grander and more exciting). With "It Takes Two", you're a pair of bickering husband/wife who have been turned into dolls and have different powers but have to work together. It's more of a 3D world vs Unravel's 2D+ side-scroller. In Unravel, you're made of yarn and connected by yarn that you can control by swinging and pulling each other around and such.

Just to clarify, most "BBS" days stuff is before almost anyone had any internet access.

Internet became "mainstream" in the early-to-mid 90s. BBS heyday was 80s and then a little into the early 90s before the internet caught on.

So, my wife and I finished It Takes Two a couple nights ago. Thanks for recommending it. We enjoyed it. If I was being picky, I would say that the puzzles and such were better for the first half of the levels. Towards the end, they just didn't seem as well done or not as challenging or something. Also, earlier on, it felt like each level had a rather difficult "end boss" and it didn't feel that way later on. Heck, when it ended, I thought there was going to be one last "big boss" that just never appeared. *shrug*

Don't get me wrong though, we both really enjoyed it overall. yes

I wonder if we should try this Unravel? My wife is not great at having to do a bunch of perfectly timed jumps. Like, a few spots in ITT were frustrating for her -- one where she had to hand me her remote so that we could get past it without her being upset over it. So, if Unravel is a ton of that, then maybe not for us. So, is it a game that two can get through if one is more skilled than the other at having to make platform jumps (or grab hanging rings or whatever)?

I'm sure you're right about It Takes Two being inconsistent in some ways like that. I recall there being some frustrating bosses that had us worried, but later we had no trouble getting through them.

I didn't personally love the bickering or some of the silly NPCs. But, I thought it had some great co-op gameplay and just a lot of diversity and fun moments.

We've only played Unravel 2. It's a smaller game and less diverse, perhaps more challenging. Definitely good and I'd recommend it as well. I should track down the first Unravel too.... checking on that, it seems like it's not a 2 player game, so you really want 2 for coop!

The devs that made It Takes Two also made a co-op game about a couple guys in prison escaping. We played/finished that, but it was less good. I'm hoping their next game will be great too...

We just started to play "Death Squared" which is also a good co-op, but is a simpler puzzle level style thing.

We've played a lot of Borderlands too. Diablo games are decent too.

Rock on Tony!
I remember spending $500 in 1990 for an 80 Meg 5.25" Full Height Hard drive for my 386 PC - the Seagate 4096!
And Police Quest series was the best until they had to follow the trends (PQ: SWAT became a Jagged Alliance/Commandos-clone)!

Yeah, it was a bit cringe. Also, my wife and I, a few times, said "These are horrible people." smile

My best friend asked me to play co-op with him when the game was new... him on his PS3. We never did. Argh

Yeah, it's an old game, but I remember it was fun to do all the teleporter/physics puzzles with someone together.
