A little story here: I was at my local Goodwill and saw this Paul McCartney CD "Off the Ground" from1993. I'm a huge Beatles fan and somewhat of a fan of McCarney's solo career. I've liked some of his albums a lot, but others, not so much. So I see this one there for only 99 cents. I thought, "hey, even if there's one good song on there, it's worth it." After listening to it, I realized that I had heard one of the songs before called "Hope of Deliverence," which is a pretty good that I like, but not great. The rest of the album is completely forgettable, except for one song called "The Lovers that Never Were." It kinda feels to me like what I imagine a modern-day (at the time) Beatles songs might have sounded like in a way. I just find the different changes in the song to be refreshing and somewhat Beatles-esque.

I'm curious as to what other Beatle and/or McCartney fans think of it.

Over the years I’ve heard songs WAY before they were popular, used in movies and shows, or played on store radio through this site:

Been rocking the new Pearl Jam album for over a month fairly non stop. I did buy a few bootlegs to see how the new songs sound live and they’re fantastic.

Happy bday.

I really dig “upper hand” with its Hendrix inspired hammers ons and pulls ala yellow Ledbetter.

Thanks man.

This whole record is bad ass. I hear Hendrix in Upper Hand for sure. I could hear Springsteen singing Wreckage. There’s some punk influence here as well, like Running, which is short and sweet. You can still hear some anger in Eddie’s voice, particularly Running, but it’s not like the 2006 album where he was mad as hell. Got to Give could have been a Tom Petty song, particularly early Petty, and Setting Sun gives me Black vibes and I’m here for all of it.

I’m 10000000% a PJ fanboy and I at least like everything they’ve done decently, but this record is the best front to back playthrough since Binaural for me. Some albums since have better songs, but cohesiveness matters too.

I haven’t been to a PJ show since 2016 - but I followed them around the south when I was younger.

The 2016 show in Greenville SC may have been my fave of all- it was the anniversary of Vs. my favorite album and they played it front to back- Eddie said it was the first time they’d ever done that.

That sounds like it was a damn good time. My last show was in September 2022 when they had to reschedule March 2020 because of Covid. It was a great night. I wish they’d come back to OKC soon, or even Tulsa. The new album sounds fantastic live.
