* 18-Oct-2022(#2)Sure. I went to Oregon so I'm a Duck fan. They have great offense but can be wildly inconsistent at times. Ignoring the first game loss to Georgia I have high hopes.
But the fun news was Tennessee fans ripping down goalposts and throwing them in a river after beating Alabama. Letting fans storm the field cost the school a $100k fine (it'll be $250k next time) and goal posts are about $15k. The school asking for donations sounded odd but after such a big win they've already raised $160k. Crazy.

Neither of those are true. Oregon has proven time and time again that they can't match with the top ranked teams and getting beat handily by a Georgia team with so many gaps isn't going to change that opinion. The PAC12 in general is in turmoil right now and needs to figure out it's crap quick. I am glad to see Bo Nix have a bit of success, he just didn't fit with Auburn's offense. Tennessee is good but it's defensive gaps are not going to take it far, especially in the SEC. Although their offense is just absolutely incredible so maybe it doesn't matter.
My alma mater, Auburn, is a dumpster fire of epic proportions. We fired our AD who, outside of a questionable Harsin hire, has hired coaches in every other sport that have got us to at least the playoffs. Of course in the SEC the only thing that matters is football, so his contract was not renewed. Our offseason was filled with nothing but drama to include a massive investigation that turned up nothing when a booster accused Harsin of sleeping with one of his coaching assistants. By all accounts he will be fired by end of season, if not sooner, but not until an AD is brought in that will take the heat for whatever new coach we will hire (and promptly fire).
We are already behind the power curve as 5 power 5 teams have fired coaches and I think the SEC, specifically the west, is about to experience a major shift. Saban has 2 maybe 3 years left in the tank as he now has competition in both the East and West and at 70 he isn't going to put up with a whiney Bama fanbase after every championship he has won for them. Texas A&M aren't going to be a true threat with Jimbo and LSU isn't going to work with Kelly. Miss St and Ole Miss always have a good few years then bottom out. So Auburn needs to find a long term coach and let him build something.
Outside my own Auburn bubble no one looks unbeatable this year. It really is a toss up on what four will be in the playoffs, but I could see all 4 of those teams having one loss. Have fun figuring out which of the one loss teams deserve it. There is actually two legit scenarios where 3 SEC teams could end up in it. I would rather see no SEC teams in than that but winning your conference doesn't mean anything when talking about the playoffs.

20-Oct-2022(#12)At least 4-5 times per game the announcers mention the Oregon QB transferred from Auburn. I think it's intended as a compliment about Auburn having a pretty solid history, but this year not so much. It comes off more like a "he was lucky to escape in time" comment.
And I agree that the Pac-12 Pac-10 can't compete with the big conferences. One or two teams usually have a great season and then they lose to someone within the conference which spoils any real run. Everyone ends up ranked in the middle. It happens every year.

I don't think it was "lucky to escape" as he played the same under two coaches. The problem is the offensive line has been trash the past couple of years. I don't know why we do such a poor job of recruiting the line, but some of the blame may lie with Cam Newton. Auburn has been chasing the next Cam for years. If you have a QB that elusive you don't need a great line, or so the thought goes. Problem is Cam was a once in a lifetime QB. We actually came close with Nick Marshall in 2013 but haven't found a QB that elusive since. Bo Nix was supposed to be a transition from a running team to a passing heavy team. Problem is he didn't have time to settle in the pocket. Incidentally his best game was his first, the comeback win over Oregon. I'm happy to see him find success as he was not going to start at Auburn this year anyways and I don't think he wanted to play for Auburn anymore (despite loving them).
At this point we just need to do the sensible thing and hire a Saban assistant. I wouldn't mind seeing Bill O Brien come over, but I haven't seen his name even floated. The two I've seen are Hugh Freeze (fudge that) and Deion Sanders (double fudge that)

Not sure how you came to that conclusion. Oregon has won their fair share of non-conference and bowl match-ups against top ranked teams, including:
Oklahoma State in 2008
Wisconsin in 2011
Kansas State in 2012
Florida State in 2014
Wisconsin in 2019
Ohio State in 2021
Have they lost big games? Of course, most teams have. Other than the Georgia blowout, which quite frankly was just a terrible game for Oregon, they've played teams like Ohio State and Auburn in the national championship close.
Oregon isn't Alabama or Ohio State. Pretty much no other schools can sustain the success as those two programs.

Not sure how far the meme made it outside the Auburn circle, but it looks like the meme will finally come true. After our A-Day game some guy commented on Twitter "This is the year. Bo Nix has improved so much under this new offense. He’s focused. He’s having fun. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a dark horse for the Heisman." For whatever reason as the season went on and this clearly wasn't going to be the case this was posted all over Auburn social media after our loses.
Once again, glad to see Bo have success somewhere. He loved Auburn and I know it was tough for him to choose to leave, wish he could have found success with us but we just didn't have the pieces in place to support him.

As a graduate of Oregon and a fan, this one hurts bad. Not as bad as when we lost to Stanford the year that Alabama beat down Notre Dame for the natty (should've been Oregon beating down Notre Dame), or when Oregon lost to Auburn in the natty when Michael Dyer's wasn't (was) down.

It's not just that. He has sexual misconduct incidents dating all the way back to his high school days and up to his time at Liberty. He doesn't have the record to justify us taking on all his baggage, especially when sexual assault is such a hot button issue on college campus's. In a series of odd hirings by Auburn in the last 12 years, this is by far the worst. The only good thing he has done so far is kept Cadillac Williams on as Assistant Coach. The fact that we were going after Lane Kiffin and him shows that no one wants this dumpster fire, at least until Saban is out. But Freeze is a yes man who will make the boosters happy and as long as he gets a couple 9-3 season under his belt he will be kept around. Was really hoping the Oregon coach would come over.

Those people are delusional. Bama looked like ass this year and didn't pass the eye test at all. The real tragedy is Tenn is ranked lower then them. I fully expect them to pull the Bama thing and not even show up to the bowl game. If it's not a playoff or NC they don't care. That's where H2H didn't matter because they looked at 1) the South Carolina beatdown on Tennessee and 2) losing Hendon Hooker to injury vs. Alabama losing 2 close games.
Logically it doesn't make sense but
12-team playoff will be nice because at least it opens the door for a team to make a late season run.

Probably because the window is open. Also, the regular season ended and bowl games aren't that important. Also, many schools semester or quarter is ending soon, so I'm sure some student-athletes want to ensure they start the next semester/quarter on time.

Completely agree. Really the only positions that are considered now are typically QB and RB. It's just so much easier for people because of the counting stats.

They're up 21-0 at the half... two of those scores were pick sixes. LoL

31-Dec-2022(#103)I was thinking I'm thankful that there isn't a 8 or 12 team playoff this year, with Georgia and three half ass nobodies, but having Alabama/Clemson/Tennessee/whoever would probably be much more entertaining. More chances for Jawja to get banged up, and maybe a lesser team could go on a confidence fueled run.

Alabama would have ran straight through it I think. The only team it feels like got left out. Maybe UT that backup is legit.

He had probably his best and worst quarter this season last night. The old Stet.
