i read it won’t support streaming ps plus (extra/premium) games, for some reason.

To be fair the PS5 uses regular USB audio for headsets, same as PC, and Xbox is the one with gay proprietary BS. Same with storage expansion.

People are still using "gay" as an insult?
That's not very kind.
Next time you say it, I hope you at least imagine replacing it with "Texan". Might hit a little closer to home, and you might start figuring out why it's a crappy thing to say.

* 27-Aug-2023(#124)Weird that people on here still manage to turn the most innocuous statement with an obvious completely different usage of a word to white night and virtue signal.
If you actually understood the nuance of language you'd see you are actually being the bigoted one by equating being gay literally as a bad thing.
You can use Texan however you want honestly the predominantly liberal population of this site already does that kind of thing and I'm not so fragile I'd actually care.

If you understood the nuance of language you would know the difference between night and knight.
And accusing someone of virtue signaling almost always means "I know I'm wrong, but I'm going to deflect and try to put this back on you."

* 27-Aug-2023(#126)That's not language nuance that's an autocorrect spelling mistake, but then I guess you wouldn't get that either.
Figures you'd try to misrepresent your virtue signaling with a wacky deflection of your own. Hey we're all proud of you clap yourself on the back some more.

Huh. I missed this. Since there is an app to do this on other devices - bad idea.
Edit- now I’m seeing no cloud game streaming. Softs must be downloaded. That doesn’t make sense either -

27-Aug-2023(#129)More and more about this device doesn't seem to make sense. Cool it's "only" $200 but there's way too many compromises, this is basically just a PS5 version of the Wii U that has a better range (and worse latency).

This is something we can agree on.
When I first read about this device, it reminded me of Wii U's much desired 'off screen' play which ended up not having nearly enough range to be useful to me. If I can't go in another room with it, what's the point?
I like the wii u for other reasons, but it was a big disappointment that I couldn't go from the living room to a bedroom in a relatively compact apartment.

27-Aug-2023(#131)Ya agreed. Huge buzz kill especially like playing on my bed is have to move the console into the bedroom. Big turnoff.
But this is streaming only so will the latency kill the pleasure too? I've had that issue with remote play

Yes this pretty much nails it. I've been spoiled starting with DS and PSP. It's immediately continuing from where you left off. They all can do that, And I still play these systems. DS, Vita, PSP, Switch, 3DS. They said the Portal will be able to turn on and off the PS5. And we know the new systems have a pretty quick resume feature. So it might only be a slight step behind Switch.
WIth me I have my modern consoles hooked up to my 4K projector. So there is a HUGE wait compared to my Switch. I have been playing The Last of us II. But if I can stop and resume within like say 5 seconds. As opposed to 30-60 seconds turning on all my tech like my projector, AVR, and waiting for them to boot up. It would be a HUGE difference and I would probably start playing way more PS4 and PS5 games. As long as physical games inserted into PS5 work. Heck I'd probably sell some of my Xbox multiconsole games and instead buy copies for PS. Resident Evil, Spyro, Mortal Kombat, etc. . Because I'd favor playing on Portal.

Yeah exactly. I have my Vita and Ipad Mini plugged up near bed right now. Man if I had that I could have my "PS5" in bed. Heh heh. This is definitely a personal thing. Some people will think it's crap and say it won't sell, others will love the hell out of this thing. But it won't be universally liked, that's for sure.

28-Aug-2023(#145)Steam Deck basically just streams the Ps5 as well with Chiaki4deck. I'd say I can probably get 4-5 hours but I almost never play till it dies

* 28-Aug-2023(#148)I don't thing Sony has said why, but to be clear, what they said was:
> "Games that require a VR headset (PlayStation VR or PlayStation VR2) or additional peripherals (other than a DUALSHOCK 4, DualSense, or DualSense Edge wireless controller) are not compatible. Games that must be streamed on PS5 using a PS Plus Premium membership are not compatible."

https://blog.playstation.com/2023/08/23/playstatio...In other words, you can't re-stream to the Portal games that stream to the ps5; only non-VR games that play local on the PS5 are supported. That's what I consider PS Now games, though I guess they don't call them that anymore. I've never actually played a game like that (sort of Stadia-like).
Saying, "PSN Games" may mean different things to people. From my perspective, I only play games I download off of PSN (PlayStation Network) and those are all supported (except VR) as far as I know.

28-Aug-2023(#151)I don't really know what Sony is trying to do with the portal. What is the demographic this fits?
I think it's just to be the same price as the switch lite on the shelf, and have parity with MS and their cloud gaming stuff. I can only imagine how many parents are going to buy it for their kids this Christmas thinking it's a portable PS5 not understanding the fine print. Instead it'll be "neat, now you need to spend $500 so that I can use this".

29-Aug-2023(#160)bill wrote:> What is your evidence for this conjecture about Sony?
The number of ps5 and ridiculous over priced peripherals like dual sense edge and vr 2 sold. Consumers are positively reinforcing that they want “Sony” at any price.
