Watched DGR's reaction video. You can see in the facial expressions a lot of joy and disappointment.

Re-watching it it reminds me of what I saw of Galaxy before release. A lot of new ideas in a similar format (2d this time around... not referring to gravity). At that point the Mario franchise was pretty much dead to me. I played the demo of Galaxy at a Gamestop and was like they may have something here. Turned out to be by far my favorite 3d Mario at the time, and reinvigorated my interest in the series.

Our Nintendo Live day is tomorrow. Demos are supposed to be available, hopefully get to try the new Mario game. My kids are looking forward to the character photo ops, I guess there’s supposed to be a ton.

If you and your kids get to play it, let us know you and your kids' opinions.

They did have a demo of it and the game is pretty fun. A lot going on I wasn’t familiar with but we tried a few 3 star difficulty levels and it was a bit challenging. Kids have already put it on their list for Christmas

Overall the event was pretty cool. A lot of demos and a lot of cool swag after you tried the demos. Was actually shocked at the amount of free, interesting items they handed out. Even got a nice elephant Mario keychain from the Wonder both. Plenty of characters to take photos with as well.

Metroid Prime 4, last big game of the Switch? Hope it's true, we've waited too long!

Apparently no DLC planned for ToTK:

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2023/09/new-inte...

The game is large enough as is, so don't really need it.

I really enjoyed BotW's DLC, so I'm kinda bummed about this. I at least wanted to see Trial of the Sword in TotK, that was my favorite part of the BotW DLC.

That's odd, I thought DLC was confirmed before the game's release but I guess not.

I just figured there would be DLC, since BotW did, and they've been offering at least some form of DLC for most of their 1st party games, for a while now.

I'm a little surprised as well. It couldn't have been too difficult to add some more sky islands and caves, but hopefully they are working on its sequel for Switch 2.

I wish they translated the Japanese games. Most don't matter that much, but I had no idea what that RCR game was.

Nintendo Direct videos are typically a pretty credible source.

Rumors and speculation are just... I don't have enough time to play games, so why wouls I even bother with chasing rumors on them?

If I had completed every game I owned and there were no other games out that I was interested in buying, then I might feel the need to read up on rumors. But I don't think I'll ever get to that point.

It's Metroid, any and all possible leaks/rumors are worthwhile (IMHO).

If it was Nintendo Direct, then it wouldn't be a rumor, and we wouldn't know until much closer to release.

The time you took to post about not having time to chase rumors, took longer than the time to read the article.

I would just save Metroid Prime 4 for a Switch 2 release at this stage. Why release a brand new game on a near 7 year old system that’s had no real mid gen refresh?

I am of the opinion that all leaks and rumors related to future games are bad.

Not being a rumor makes it much more valuable. And being closer to release date is better because then you don't have to wait as long! If Nintendo hadn't teased MP4 years ago there wouldn't be as much demand for rumors! They should have waited until they actually had something worth showing.

😅 10%? That's not very much. Was there any feature in your dream that made the Switch 2 really great?

Well I was able to play Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes again via it’s GameCube BC feature so that alone makes it the greatest console of all time.

I mean, do we really need an ambassador? Cool and all that he did the voices, but I personally have zero value in meeting the guy. This feels unnecessarily over the top and odd. Is this how they are welcoming Chris Pratt to step in? Haha

Oh well, good for the dude, hopefully he made some good money off a few lines!

They forced Charles to film that at gunpoint.
I swear it feels like there has to be something more to this. A week or so ago at some convention he said he doesn't even know what they expect him to do as Mario ambassador, so it's like they didn't even discuss it with him, they made the decision for him.

At least he didn't make a big fuss about it the way the Bayonetta voice actor did when she was replaced, but can't help but feel like there is some kind of drama they are not sharing,

Given how little Mario actually speaks I find this all pretty hilarious. I'll admit he's pretty good at the Mario "wah-hoooo" but I feel like he could probably re-record all Mario voice work for every Mario game ever made in less than an hour.

I don't know if they're good at keeping secrets or there's just too many people making crap up and being vague about it just to use as clickbait. But some people definitely have inside sources, like that one guy last year who talked about how close to being canceled Everybody 1-2-Switch was a year before Nintendo ever announced it. He had the title of the game right and that it would support smartphones like the Jackbox games with support for up to 100 players, etc., just too much ended up being correct for it to have just been a lucky guess. But because so many people make stuff up because they're desperate for views/clicks, the legit leaks sometimes slip under the radar.

That makes you wonder if that is intentional. They know leaks get out so either hire people to spread fake rumors or “leak” false information on purpose lol

The leaker that said Mario Wonder and SMRPG would be in the last Nintendo Direct is back at it. I'll use a spoiler tag for those that don't care for rumors, or don't potentially want to be spoiled with the upcoming Nintendo Direct (not officially announced, but I think they pretty much always do one around the second or third week of September)

Some kind of Donkey Kong game, and also F-Zero. But while sites immediately started putting up stories about a new F-Zero game as if it's a new full retail game, the leaker has been liking other people's tweets that guessed it being a battle royal type game for NSO subscribers, like Tetris 99. Twitter handle is @Pyoro_X

I know the new retroid I'm getting talks about "hall sticks" which I think uses magnets? I don't know enough about it but I vaguely remember hearing they are much less likely to drift. Can you give a summary of what this patent is?

This probably explains it better than I can. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2023/09/new-nint...

It does say it uses magnets and "hall sticks", maybe the same thing as the retroid you're talking about? I know a year or two ago a 3rd party released a set of Joy-Cons that said it would never have Joy-Con drift, maybe they were using the same thing.
