Preseason is over. Fantasy football drafts have started. Cut day is tomorrow. The NFL continuing down the pay-per-view path. Figured I'd open another thread. Who are your fantasy must own or sleepers?

Pretty crazy to think Bill B could be done as a head coach. Shula and Halas may stay 1 & 2.

Maybe he demanded too much power in ATL? If he did so what? Roll the dice and give the man whatever he wants. Its not like ATL has an awesome roster, or amazing history. Instead they go with Morris. I hope he succeeds but seems like a cop out. Then you've got Vrabel still out there. Maybe one or both will get a shot with the Seahawks or Commanders.

Saw comments like this posted on social media about BB interviewing with the Falcons:

Falcons: "Tell me about a time when you overcame adversity"

Bill: "Well, this one time I was down 28-3 in the Super Bowl..."

Sometimes the lowest hanging fruit makes my chuckle the most.

That's what the rumor was. He wants to be commander in chief, but I'm not sure any owner would go for that today. He hasn't even interviewed with Seattle or Washington.

I don't see him in Seattle. Washington would be a decent fit with their defense, but they just went through an ownership change, will likely want to rebrand and have a say in the direction of the team. Plus I feel this would end up a lot like the Ron Rivera hire. A handful of years of mediocrity and out the door.

Local reporters are saying that Arthur Blank was basically give a choice between Rich McKay or Belichick. Neither side would move on that. The patriot way is bluster without the patriot goat - Brady- it hurt Bill’s stock pretty bad the way they fell off.

No doubt.

Why would any owner give Bill total control when his draft track record isn't great, his record post-GOAT, and he blundered into Brady thanks to 1 scout who reportedly stood on a table during the draft and threatened to quit if they didn't pick him after 5 rounds of passing on him.

Even if the 'Boys fire Mike next season, Jerry won't turn the reigns over to Bill. Bill is going to have to give up his power to chase Halas. I think he retires rather than further tarnish his legacy as a HC. I could be wrong, but I don't see him taking any other role, not even as a figurehead.

It's all speculation and talking heads presuming why it didn't work out. No one from either side has said why it didn't work out and we may never know.

Why wouldn't Bill give up his front office power? I doubt he's looking to build another dynasty from the ground up at 71. This is simply about 15 more wins. Two years with a team that's already built and I think he's off into the sunset. As long as we're speculating, there's mine.

Not having the greatest QB in the history of the league certainly hurts the team; any team. No surprise there. It's also no surprise that Bill is a defensive-minded coach. So I'll say this, 7, 2, 11, 15, are the overall defensive rankings for the Pats in the years post Brady. Despite having the 3rd worst scoring offense and 2nd lowest ToP in the league, the Patriots were able to hang around in most games this season.

Lost to the Bills by 6
Lost to the Chargers 6
Lost to the Giants by 3
Lost to the Colts by 4
Lost to the Commanders by 3
Lost to the Raiders by 4
Lost to the Eagles by 5

Lots of bad football, especially by the offense this season, but to me, this screams get me a QB/WR more than get me a new coach. A more effective QB picks up half of those close losses and maybe the Patriots have a shot at a WC spot.

This is basically what ATL sports radio is saying:

https://nypost.com/2024/01/26/sports/falcons-chang...

The publicity around belichick has been overwhelmingly negative here as well. Most talking heads were pretty outspoken against his hiring.

With injuries, I'd have to say the same (Ravens, Lions). Chiefs don't have their best run stuffer, and just lost their best option as spy. The defense has bailed this team out all year long. I think the offense will have to perform well above expectations against this stout defense to pull this one out. It can happen, but I don't think it will. House money though.

As a Lions fan, I’m bummed but we had a really good season. Just too many late mistakes and bad play calls and niners took advantage.
Now we get the same old same old for a Super Bowl. I will probably skip it. Feels like a rerun and not looking forward to seeing Taylor Swift every time Kelsey has a completion.

I really thought Detroit was gonna pull this out.. As a 49ers fan, I couldn't believe how easily you scored on us in the 1st half. SF has been a notoriously stingy 2nd half defensive team and it showed.. I'm glad KC won, because I think SF has a better chance to beat them than the Ravens...

Thoughts on the game:
- Why abandon CMC in quarters 2 & 3??? Especially when you're ahead!? Drain the clock, maybe get up by another score. You knew the Chiefs offense wasn't going to be at 0 forever.
- Greenlaw and Deebo both go down with non-contact injuries...can't make this up. Man, Kittle went out later in the game as well. Tough stuff
- Angry or not, why is Kelce nearly knocking down his coach/a senior because he's mad he was open? More bad look type stuff.
- For all the gripes about the refs this year, warranted or not, I thought this game was well officiated, but I doubt it will be brought up much if at all.
- While Usher didn't sound the best, the halftime show wasn't bad and the cameo's outshined Usher. Great set list
- The commercials this year weren't extremely funny, but also weren't obnoxiously bad. I'm fine with that.

So without further ado, congratulations on another one Chiefs' fans. First dynasty in 20 years. Call it what it is.

But now, the glory days are over. Chiefs don't pick up any more band wagon fans from here. There will be less kids buying Mahomes' jersey simply because he's the best at the position right now. This is where the Chiefs move from the NFL's sweethearts to the most hated team in the league. Mahomes' antics this year and the constant winning is changing the NFL fan's impression of the Chiefs. Can't wait for the first [insert bogus catch word]-gate to explain away why they keep winning. It will happen.

It's been cathartic seeing the dialog change this year. For years my friends and colleagues have praised Mahomes, Reid, and the Chiefs. The past few months now it's, "the Chiefs are whiners & crybabies". Everyone I knew was rooting against them throughout the playoffs. Heck you can see it in the GTZ poll above.

You'll have less meaningful conversations about your team because people won't be realistic about it. If there is any -gate type stories, no one will believe your side because it's easier to believe a half truth/lie from a journalist looking to make a splash because they already hate your team. Your team/QB will be the biggest whiners. You'll have the worst fans. The refs will cater to you always. The hate train is coming. You may find it easier to say little and take solace in the fact that your team is making everyone around you so mad. The hate will drive the Chiefs to want to win even more. Let your team speak for itself.

I say this all from experience as a fan of the last dynasty we witnessed. Welcome.

The Chiefs were already the most hated team in the NFL, but unlike the Patriots they have a coach and qb who has no reason to be hated on other than they win. Maybe with Mahomes his family. I get the Chiefs fatigue. I'd be tired of them too if I wasn't a long time fan. Also I'm embracing the dark side and everytime they show t-swift it brings me joy inside knowing it pisses off Chiefs haters.

Big time congrats to Steve Spagnuolo. Only team this year to not give up 30 points, and now 5 4 time SB champ at defensive coordinator! Dude gets no love in the national media.

The turning point, to me, was the insanely random Greenlaw injury. He was #1 shadow for Kelce and kept him in check until he got hurt. At the point of injury, Kelce had 1 catch for 1 yard. The second he got hurt, you can tell they exploited the injury and back up linebacker who had to cover him. He went from 1 rec/1yd in first half to 9/93 overall. If Greenlaw plays, the 49ers win.

I also didn't like the 3rd and 4 call for SF in OT when they were on I think like the 12. They had the ball for over 7+ minutes at that point, and you can see the D-line was gassed. They should have ran it to the left behind Trent/Kyle/Kittle blocking down field.

As a SF fan, they should be back. They are returning almost everyone from this year (except Young, who they might resign, and who knows about the Greenlaw injury). As of right now, they are the favorite for Super Bowl 59.

Non-game comments:
1) The ads were overall, pretty bad.. My top 5 (no particular order): The Dunkin commercial with J-Lo/Affleck, the Pickleball Ameritrade commercial, the Christopher Walken car commercial, the CeraVe commercial and Brady BetMGM commercial. Honorable Mention was the part in the Uber Eats forgetting commerical where Jelly Roll couldn't get the tattoos off his face.
2) WTF was up with that foot washing ad?? Was really hoping it was like a beer commercial lol
3) The Robert Kennedy commercial was absolute cringe.
4) Half-time show was boring. I like Usher, but half of his songs are slow jam sexy songs.. The ending was the only good part (Shoutout to all the funny Family Guy/Dodgeball references to the show on Twitter)
5) Deadpool trailer got me hyped for July. I have no idea what's going on and I love it. Is Twisters a sequel??? Can't wait for A Quiet Place Day One either..

Opposing team's Twitter base not liking each call that goes against them? or a call they think they should get? What else is new?

All-in-all they didn't make or break the game say in the way they did against the Lions when they played Dallas. The refs aren't going to catch everything and could call holding on many a play. I'd hate to have their job.

I enjoy games decided by what goes wrong more so than what goes right. I especially love / hate when the coaches or game plans strongly affect the result. Dudes like Reid have that big game mind- but he went through his trials to get here. Shanahan is unfortunately the loser of two overtime / momentum shift loses.

As obnoxious as this may come off, I love this more than anything. The first bulletin board material for the 2024-25 Chiefs. Not even 24 hours after winning the SB, the champs can keep playing that underdog role.

Will be interesting to see what the offseason brings. The Chief's pretty much can't sign Jones and Sneed. Sneed, despite being snubbed all-pro, arguably had the best season of any corner. Only allowed 2 50+ yard games and 0 TD's during the season while largely shadowing Jefferson, Hill, Diggs, Adams (x2), Chase, Moore, Allen (x2), Brown, St Brown, and Ridley. Chief's secondary was scary good this year.

The draft will be fun. Many QB's, 2 darn near locks at perennial pro bowlers in Harrison and Alt. Looks to be pretty deep.

Chief's signed "punt god" Matt Araiza after he apparently proved his innocence. Great signing! Townsend wants to be the highest paid punter. This guy averaged almost 52 yards per punt in college, former Ray Guy award winner, and hit an 82 yard punt in preseason for the Bills before getting cut due to the accusations. I have a feeling this was Toub all the way.
