Preseason is over. Fantasy football drafts have started. Cut day is tomorrow. The NFL continuing down the pay-per-view path. Figured I'd open another thread. Who are your fantasy must own or sleepers?
Don't know about must own, but I got first round pick in my FFL but couldn't join until a few minutes in. Auto-draft got me Justin Jefferson Jefferson (yay) and Jonathan Taylor (boo, but maybe not? we'll see after tomorrow.)
This is the first draft I'm doing without knowing what position I'll be drafting until right before the draft. Pretty excited for that. I'm not sure who to draft if it ends up top 3 or so. Tempted to take Kelce in the middle of the first. All my mocks are running wr's before rb's. I think it will be top 4-5 rb's, top 3-4 wr's and Kelce in mine. Should be fun!
Not specifically NFL related, but anyone watch the show "Ballers" with the Rock? I just started it up last week. It's a lot of fun so far - kind of like the show Entourage except for pro football. I am about half-way through the first season. Check it out if you like sports, it's a fun dramatized look at a lot of off the field stuff players deal with.
It's going to look better than it is due to being an 8 team league, but here's my first team (No ppr):
QB Herbert Wr Diggs Rb Mixon Te Kelce Wr/Te D Adams Wr/Rb Mattison K Mia D Phi Bench B-Rob J Taylor D Cook A Cooper M Evans Tua
If Taylor can come back to 90% of what he was after week 4 this team is going to make a run. If he Leveon's should still be competitive. Cook, Evans and Tua are my drop candidates, and possibly B-Rob depending on what Bienemy does. I badly want to pick up Justyn Ross, and maybe even Rashee Rice of the Chiefs. By years end I think one of them will be KC's wr1 (besides Kelce). I don't trust their staff enough to get them enough reps early in the year to justify a spot though.
Lions at Chiefs in about 3 hours on NBC. Chris Jones still absent. Kelce a legitimate game time decision. Take a shot for every dropped pass by a KC receiver.
Yahoo fantasy says he's out in an update, but they still have him listed as questionable. Need him switched to out so I can put him on IR and pick up another TE.
Tempted to pick up LaPorta, but KC's LB core is legit. If he were to go off, would be good trade bait.
Edit: They initially put him NA (like he got benched not for injury) making him ineligible for IR. Thankfully it got corrected. Rolling with the unknown in LaPorta.

9rs looked great. Kenny Pickett not so much. Rooting for Purdy. Wished the Chiefs took Pickens over Moore. He looks great with a crapty below average qb.
I really hate DB's always trying to lower the boom rather than make sound tackles. That was a cheap shot on Chubb already going to the ground imo. Put your helmet offset to the midsection, drive the shoulder through the midsection, corral the ball carrier's legs and drive through.
Dolphins...I don't really know what to say. They had the #1 offense but even blew that out of the water. Yikes. Tua is pretty good when not being concussed every game.
Yeah, they will go as Tua goes. What's crazy is they are rumored to be one of the ones trying to trade for Jonathan Taylor. Don't think they really need to.
Something needs to happen to Taylor. He's just taking up space on my bench right now. At least the rest of my team is doing pretty well. I'm going up against a monster of an opponent next week though, where none of his players on or off the bench scored in the single digits this week. Do I trust Alvin Kamara to boom on his first week back against TB?
I own a few shares of Jonathan Taylor in Dynasty. Not doing me any good on the bench. Hopefully the situation works out in Indy but I'm not sure cause Irsay seems like a dick. I agree Miami would be awesome but I can't see it.

Yeah, why mess with a good thing in Miami.. they seem to be clicking on all cylinders, why add a problem. I can see Baltimore going after him, or Cleveland, or possibly Panthers.
I watched the Niners crush the Cowboys last night at a bar and grill in Nashville with felllow Niner fans. The two cowboy fans in the bar were friends with one of the Niners fans, so we had a lot of fun giving him crap all night. It was a blast!
image I'm on the right-hand side of the guy in the back with the little Niner Empire sign.
49ers look unreal.. Purdy is so poised in the pocket and they just have so many damn weapons of offense.. And their defense is stifling. Ordered my Purdy jersey last month so I hope it comes in soon.. :)
He is an excellent 'game manager', but that might get perceived as an insult. Near 4 year starter at Iowa State, he knows his crap. That team is loaded, making runs. Rooting for them if KC can't repeat.
Deshaun's guaranteed money is what is so painful. Sure, give the guy a 2nd chance if you can rationalize that and live with yourself. Ok. But handing him $230M no matter what is just another feather in the hat of Browns bad decisions.
On another note, I saw something that the Giants scored their first touchdown at home this season so far lol. And it was the first touchdown in the 1st half this season? In the 7th game? Yikes.

Pretty sure Watson said he didn't want to go to Cleveland before they agreed to terms. I think the contract was the only way they'd get him to waive his no trade clause.
On the radio they said it was the Giants first (offensive?) TD since Sept 21st.
Not much of a Football fan, but I do enjoy seeing Buffalo struggle. I guess part of it was I never really found a team I could cheer for. The closest was Maybe Seattle do to proximity.

Loud mouth Buffalo fans. There was that one guy here years ago, but my dislike of Buffalo sports team's predates that. Went to school with an obnoxious Bill's fan, worked with some nut ball Buffalo Sabres/Bills fans. they just rub me the wrong way. It seems to be a common thing that the vast majority of the Buffalo fans I have come into contact with have all been some of the worst examples of sports fans.
This, a 1000 times this. I've had many friends and colleagues who were fans of bitter rivals in all sports, college and pro, and save for 1 they all kept it friendly. As a former STH, I can say some of the home fans were worse than some of the visiting fans. The much higher percentage was good though, it was just a few bad apples.
Interesting week. Texans flexing. I certainly didn't expect them in playoff contention. Stroud playing very well. Purdy back on track. Dobbs incredibly played well with 10 days on the team. Cleveland owns the Ravens.
Wouldn’t be too upset if they clean this falcons staff out. Almost two wasted years with indecisive draft picks and still no QB stepping up. It’s the inability to go with a plan that’s really frustrating. These are bad decisions.
I feel you Feeb, I feel whole heartedly that this is the worst Pats team the nation has seen in 25+ years. Usually I feel like the Giants are the "what the hell is this team doing" team. This year, it's the Pats...the personnel is wrong, players aren't living up to expectations, finding new and interesting ways to lose. It's the Pats this year.
Terrible in FA Terrible QB options. Mac Jones is making high school level embarrassing decisions, coaching staff embarrassing themselves putting in Zappe in a two minute drill after the starting QB made a debacle of the whole thing. No true WR1 Run game I like and the defense is good, except our two best skill players are out for the season, Judon and rookie Christian Gonzales.
Just a rough, rough season. Pats had it coming.
In other news, Josh Dobbs and the Vikings are rallying and have a lot of momentum, I'm happy for them. Stroud is the first Ohio State QB to hit the ground running in the NFL in a long long time....maybe ever. I hope he keeps it up.
Yeah the pats are in free fall post Brady. That situation is pretty tough because Bill has kinda earned the unlimited time. Still there is a limit to fans’ patience.
Maybe I'm being a boomer but QB play across the league just feels terrible this year. Obviously some guys are still good but it gets rough fast after the top guys.
I think it’s because there is an abundance of young QBs and “sheltered” QBs. Those that came up on bad teams and worked with untrusting staff and limited playbook. Falcons (smith philosophy in general) are a prime example of a system that makes / shelters bad QBs the last few years. They never grow and/ or are not allowed to and it’s awful to watch.

^ This.
Last night Chris Collinsworth said that Zach Wilson should be looking at half the field right now. WTF are you talking about? He's been in the league three years. If you can't go through all of your reads and assess the defense at this point, it's done.
QB has gone from the most talented guy to the liability. It’s like something you need to work around in many offenses. Seriously I think the falcons have lost 3-4 just because of a few bad QB plays. Find a competent dude.
Joe Burrow out for the season, and it looks like Mark Andrews as well, so thats two huge blows to two AFC contenders. Bills and Chargers are in the toilet, Jags/Trevor Lawrence are pretenders, so it looks like its up to the Chiefs and Dolphins to represent the AFC as true contenders for the championship.
Not NFL, but Iowa State had an interesting game against ranked K-State last night. They scored 6 offensive TD's despite only having 2 plays in K-State territory. K-State had 32 first downs on 102 offensive plays. Iowa State only had 10 first downs on 35 plays (K-State nearly had as many first downs as ISU had offensive snaps). They both had nearly 500 yards of offense. Cyclones averaged 13.9 yards per play. Aside from one 33 yard pass, their next shortest score was 60 yards. Their RB had scores of 60, 71 and 77. Their wr had scores from 77 and 82. Insane.
> WOW, Broncos are benching Wilson. Russ couldn't even last a year under Payton?
I just saw that. Looks like a $40-50M cap hit next year if they release him as reported. Are they going to try to trade him, and if no suiters they take the cap offset? Who signs him if free? He likely wants to start still. A handful of spots open on the cheap with Denver paying his salary. Screams of Belichick's last stand in NE. Titans, Bears, Vikings, Giants, Raiders as other options. If none of those back-up to Watson in Cle or Purdy in SF if the price is right.
My god did Detroit get hosed at the end. I want to know who got the flag thrown, cause it was well after the play. If Decker didn't report there should have been two other flags thrown before he caught it (illegal formation and illegal man down field). Can't wait to see Jomboy's break down.
This one was by far the shadiest. The flag was SOOOO LATE and out of place. The ref fudgeed up by not getting clarification on the UNTIMED down after having two linemen requesting to be eligible. This one needs investigated and a response from the NFL. There is 0 chance the refs didn't fudge up.
No surprise they are blaming the player while (reportedly) quietly demoting the ref from the play-offs. Complete bullcrap. Someone who lost a decent amount of cash who is loaded should sue the NFL just to get the audio and any conversations behind closed doors exposed.
I believe the ref just fudgeed up, but that should've been the response. This was not on the player, this was on the refs. They missed 2 penalties and failed to call a third until presumably Dallas players protested well after the play. They thought he was eligible by not throwing any of those 3 penalties. Not a Dallas hater nor a Detroit fan, have no real rooting interest in the NFC aside from a light hearted 'I'll root for them' (9rs this year). Bad look for the NFL, and is the first time that seriously makes me wonder why be a fan?
Time after time the league covers the crappy refs by putting out a worthless yeah they got it wrong statement, our like this ref squad demotion, while not doing much of anything to improve officiating. As much money as the league makes why not make ref jobs full time and train the hell out of them? Or add a ref or two to each ref team. Oh I know why, because the fans will dog and complain but will still pay rediculous amounts of money for all things NFL.
> Time after time the league covers the crappy refs by putting out a worthless yeah
> they got it wrong statement...
What really irks me this time is there was 0 chance the ref didn't get it wrong, yet they put 0 blame on the ref. Literally the ref fudgeed up multiple times on a single play any which way you slice it that likely determined a game with major play-off implications, and publicly the league blamed the players. Hot garbage.
