Post your random thoughts, questions, ideas here... I'll start

1) Have you ever watched America's Funniest Videos and wonder why the winning video is almost NEVER funny AT ALL?? We were watching some older episodes on Disney Plus and the final 3 videos are always stupid and not funny, and the worst one ALWAYS wins.. WTF..

2) How have cereal bags NOT been made with zip lock technology??

3) They need to make a container that can keep to-go french fries from getting soggy...

Yeah something my dad told me ages ago always stuck with me (paraphrasing) - people aren’t nostalgic for the past, they’re nostalgic for their own youth

Sometimes I think I hear lyrics differently from what I read them... such "Move Along" All American Rejects

"All you got to keep is strong, move along, move along... even when your heart is gone..."

and "Blinded by the Light" Manfred Mann's Earth Band

"Blinded by the light, Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night" sounds more like "Blinded by the light, Revved up like a douche, another runner in the night" on the radio.

Easy fix: simply don’t listen to the All American Rejects.

Several years ago, I was shocked to learn that Bruce Springsteen wrote "Blinded by the Light". The Manfred Mann's Earth Band version of that song is all I'd ever known growing up and such.

Random thought... Having sweaty hands sucks! Have had hyperhydrosis my whole life. As I got into my 30s, taking on leadership roles, consulting and traveling... Shaking hands with C levels and getting the look after they got a handful of sweat was/is the most embarrassing thing ever in the professional space.

Covid was a damn miracle for me because we either stopped shaking, or moved to fist bumps. Yet that's all passing and we're reverting back to traditional ways.

Have a big meeting today and tomorrow with a lot of colleagues that I've not yet met in person. It's the silliest thing (unless you've lived it) to get anxious and embarrassed over.

Thankfully, after many years of trying various meds, I found one that works for a few hours at a time. Hoping it doesn't fail me tofay!

I had really hoped that not shaking hands would stick with everyone, but nope. Also, if you have sick symptoms, stay home! My wife and I have always been that way so it was nice when (most) people finally started to respect that. But that's already gone out the window.

It's a combination of fist bumps and hand shaking here where I work. I just make sure I wash my hands before I touch food.

I like shaking hands with people. Hugging is good too. It feels like a bad habit now, but I can't help myself. Contact is... essential, somehow.

Walking up the stairs a stabbing pain in my knee. Ligament tweaked. Hobbled up the remaining steps. Put on a knee brace to get around. Getting old sucks.

There are certain people I like to hug. Most people are not those people. I've become far more choosy about hugs since the pandemic.

I listed some stuff on ebay, pledging that I'd donate 25% of the profits to the Video Game History Foundation.

The items sold for just under a grand.

And I think that kicked me over the tax reporting threshold. XD

I’m always baffled that this is even a thing - why not have to sign for the package, and if you’re not home (even though you should be able to set a delivery time when you ARE) , pick it up from nearest PO or like some kind of delivery station or something

That’s how it is here at least, works well.

Well... this was FedEx... TYPICALLY, the driver leaves it at the lease office, but this must have been a different driver. USPS and FedEx (the regular driver anyways) leave packages at the lease office. UPS and Amazon (and probably any other delivery service I can/can't think of) leave at the door or leave it where it shouldn't be left (I've seen Amazon toss and go and I've had UPS packages for other residents in the building dropped off at my door and I had to go deliver them myself or take to lease office).

I don't have issue with USPS since they have to leave mail at the mailboxes location and if the packages don't fit or envelopes say "DO NOT BEND," they leave with the lease office. So, what I have done last night while waiting for the officer to get my report, I set up account on FedEx for future deliveries to make it so I can pick them up at a secure location. Amazon I'm going to make sure I have them delivered to a secure location like a nearby Amazon Locker. This way I can get my packages when I am able to (which is Sat/Sun) due to my work schedule and commute.

I did go to lease office this morning, told them what happened... I just got back home so I'm filling out a form and they're going to check the videos to see if the cameras caught anything.

What was stolen?? Did you report it to who you ordered from? Do you have a ring cam?

I ordered 2 Official PS4 Dual Shock controllers off Walmart.com for my nephew as his mom was telling me he needed a new one. I did report it stolen to the police, to the lease office this morning, and notified Fedex and Walmart the package was missing. Walmart says they won't do anything for 48 hours because it's "normal" for delivery drivers to mark delivered and actually deliver within 48 hours of marking delivered.

Lease office is going to have their IT/Courtesy Officer review the camera footage to see if there's anything that could useful to finding the thief.

No, I wasn't sure we were allowed to have Ring cams on our apartment doors, but I noticed a couple of neighbors with them when I had to personally deliver their packages left at my door, so I might actually do that, but at the same time I probably don't need to do that since I have future package deliveries set up for secure locations now... or set up to let me know I have a package on the way to me and I can re-route it somewhere more secure.

Just sat down to enjoy some Switch Lite time. Aaaaaand it's out of battery. 😅

This has happened too many times. Maybe I should put some sort of portable charger setup near my switch lite.

I guess it lasts on standby for less than I hoped.

I mean, technically speaking, it’s not wrong though. Doesn’t mean you, personally, are an incapable gun owner — so no need to jump on the defensive. But just about any statistics back that video up, as corny as it is.

Regardless, I think the point is that “thoughts and prayers” do nothing when faced with such tragedies and only some attempt at remedying the situation will change anything for the better.

I think thoughts and prayers are perfectly acceptable for people who have no viable way to affect the situation themselves.

It just makes me angry when politicians, the very people who write laws and make policy, use "thoughts and prayers" as an alternative to any meaningful action on a problematic issue.

What I mean is the video says guns are the #1 killer of children. That's not true.

Firearms seem to be the leading cause of child and teen deaths in the US at least in the last couple of years

I don't think the link specifically differentiates between accidental, homicide, and suicide though.

Weird that they start at one. Are you not a child until you reach one year of age?
