Post your random thoughts, questions, ideas here... I'll start

1) Have you ever watched America's Funniest Videos and wonder why the winning video is almost NEVER funny AT ALL?? We were watching some older episodes on Disney Plus and the final 3 videos are always stupid and not funny, and the worst one ALWAYS wins.. WTF..

2) How have cereal bags NOT been made with zip lock technology??

3) They need to make a container that can keep to-go french fries from getting soggy...

It's just that most kids 1-12 months are members of little baby gangs, so they chose that lifestyle.

Maybe to avoid skewing the numbers by including premie babies that lived for a few minutes or a few hours, or stillborn babies?

This guy came up to my bar a few weeks ago who had a gun in his pocket, I didn't notice it but other employees did and the manager came and whispered in my ear that he had a gun. We have a sign on the door that says no firearms and she wanted me to do her job and kick him out so ok I guess. I told him he had to put his firearm in his car and he yelled "who'd going to protect you in the war," went and put in his car, then ranted about the illuminati and kept asking about my religious beliefs for an hour and left no tip.

No shoes, no shirt, has gun, no service.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong in this scenario, even if the person who has the gun is being responsible. The business has the right to tell the customer to keep that outside of the building.

Technically, if you're in a bar and you're drinking (or even not drinking), you shouldn't be in possession of a firearm... But hey, let the adage "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" occur.

I imagine it is a crime anywhere if you drink while armed. Here in VA you can carry all you want, but once you sip some alcohol its a felony (I believe).

I don't have a strong opinion on whether the guy should have a firearm or not. Didn't really feel threatened by him, he probably would've been on my side in the unlikely scenario that someone decided to shoot up my workplace. I personally don't own one because I don't have any need or desire to, but anyone can in Arizona. You can't buy it from a store if you have a felony but there's zero paperwork required from a private seller. Don't think there's a way to get rid of all guns because there are already so many guns. And maybe it's different in Europe or whatever but I'd like to have the right to have a gun if the police can have guns

You'd think so, but that would be too logical and, apparently, infringe on 2nd Amendment rights.

Only FOUR states have a law saying that you cannot consume any alcohol while carrying a gun. (Although there are more states that ban consuming AND being under the influence, which can confuse things a bit, but they probably just mean consume at all -- hopefully.)

Then a bunch say that you can't be "under the influence" (and define what level of alcohol that is, but it isn't just above-0). So, again, in those, you can likely drink and carry as long as you don't reach some limit.

Then like a dozen states don't address it at all -- which means that it is not illegal to drink and carry or even to be DRUNK and carry.

Yah it’s pretty much a new Twitter that’s far less of a “wild west” with all the problems Musk is causing for that site.

This is a quote I found: “ Bluesky was described in 2021 as an initiative to develop a decentralized social network protocol, in which multiple social networks, each with its own systems of curation and moderation, interact with other social networks through an open standard.” So ultimately: you “follow” topics that interest you and interact with others in that general bubble. Very much Twitter-like, but seems a lot smoother.

It’s in beta but a roll out is coming eventually, so folks need an invite code to sign up. Like ben said, it is pretty quiet there for now, but still plenty of folks to follow. I use it mostly for CBR/comic related stuff.

If ya want a code, I got ‘em.

Mercari is such a joke to sell on. I hadn't listed anything in a while so I put up several items last night. I had one item up for $125. I immediately got am offer of $80. When I said no they replied "*sad objection sounds*". I had another item up for 200 and was sent a 100 offer. Site really is a joke for selling anything.

I've noticed that a lot of the items there seem... like fake listings? PS4s listed as "console" with suspicious images, that sorta thing.

I mostly find decently priced things, but people there have no idea how to set up shipping prices.

Those scam listings pop up all the time. "First one to text me at xxx-xxx-xxxx will get this free" or "my child died in a wreck and I am pricing this cheap so I don't have to look at it anymore." They are always from 0 fb sellers.

You can certainly find some good deals on there if you watch regularly. However selling is another story. If you have something fairly uncommon and it's the only one listed, you might have some luck. But most of the time you only get terrible offers for like 50% off.

Turned scoring on for a bit. Read through a few topics. Hated seeing the plussed and negs so I turned scoring back off. I like it so much better without scoring. I wish I could get scoring turned off hard coded onto my profile so I never have to deal with it again.

I did once had someone asking me on CL why I was pricing something so good 😂. I think they added that I could get more.

(It was a set of adjustable 20lb dumbbells. Needed to declutter and they weren't being used much, so I listed them at $10, which was apparently a steal of a price. Several people wanted the set. The buyer showed up on a skateboard and put the weights into his backpack. Then skateboarded away.)

For CL and FBM sales,I have multiple stories of people wanting a much better deal. Our church had an old slate pool table that they said to just give away. I offered it for free, but it had to be moved out of the church basement without help from us. I had people ask if I could deliver it. I listed an item for $10 and had people ask if I would deliver it 20 miles away.

Facebook buyers have zero concept of reality.

Some of them try the hustle of "so it was $(10 bucks lower than the agreed price)" once they meet you, or say "I only have $X on me" despite having agreed to the higher price.

That's why I always insisted on meeting at Walmart. I can tell them to go inside and buy something small on their card and get cash back so they can pay the full amount. And then I leave as soon as they go inside, and block them on FB because I don't want to deal with someone who tried to pull a fast one on me.

Haven't sold on FB/CL in years because that kind of behavior was constant. Just not worth it.

As someone who used to have a full sized pool table, it's taking advantage to ask for that monster to be delivered. $10 is a fantastic deal. Yes, it's super heavy and bulky. But for that price, the buyer should figure out how to get it. Or at the least offer a nice incentive to have it delivered.

But if you wanted to sell the item, and they were willing to go inside Walmart to get cash back, notwithstanding that they tried to pull a fast one on you, wouldn't you rather just sell the item and get it over with?

One time, I sold a game to a guy on Facebook Marketplace. He drove up to where we were meeting and said, "Sorry, I only have ($5 less than we had agreed upon)," so I just walked away. Then, he shouted at me "Wait! I found $5!" Sure you did...=)

I don't understand why people are that way. Generally speaking you are getting a deal anyways, why risk pissing off the wrong person?

I personally know two people who got ripped off through online initiated transactions that found the scammers home address and confronted them at their home. While not smart both were refunded with little/no resistance, and I'm guessing the scammers got in a good amount of trouble for it from their family for allowing it to escalate. One was a husband who's wife must of knew about it as she immediately gave them the cash difference and apologized for her husband('s scumbaggery).

I haven't sold much of anything in quite a few years, but *knock on wood* I've generally had really good luck with Craigslist. I only recall getting less than the asking price one time on a meet-up, and that was understandable as they assumed a piece of furniture/art was in better condition than I advertised. Even that was only a small percent difference, like 15%, which was still higher than my target final selling point.

Would like to try to get dates again.... problem is... wasn't successful before... ever... don't think this time would be any different. Seems like my options are VERILY limited with my "status."

Hinge and Bumble seem to be top "free" dating apps for single and heterosexual... PoF seems more geared to my age, but even then I didn't have any good responses from there in the past either.
