Post your random thoughts, questions, ideas here... I'll start

1) Have you ever watched America's Funniest Videos and wonder why the winning video is almost NEVER funny AT ALL?? We were watching some older episodes on Disney Plus and the final 3 videos are always stupid and not funny, and the worst one ALWAYS wins.. WTF..

2) How have cereal bags NOT been made with zip lock technology??

3) They need to make a container that can keep to-go french fries from getting soggy...

You ever walk into a store and then feel a bit off without buying anything? Nothing wrong with browsing, but still.

I slept through the only (significant) earthquake that I was in. It was a 6-6.5. I was disappointed honestly. Wished I would've been awake for it.

Are modern games getting boring or am I losing interest?

I say it's more likely the second one.

I loved video games as a kid. Would play games I got thoroughly. Hundreds of hours spent sometimes on one game. But gaming itself for the past few years hasn't grabbed my attention as much. I still do play video games, and I do enjoy them, but I don't put nearly as much time into it as I used to.

There are some great modern games. Metroid Dread was excellent, Super Smash bros is great fun as a multiplayer, Tekken 8 seems great from the gameplay I've seen.

For me, I think it's loss of interest/other priorities.

But when a game comes out that grabs my attention, I really enjoy it. So overall it's not a total loss of interest.

For me, modern games are getting more theatric and focusing less on gameplay/fun. That's why I enjoy Nintendo games more. Nintendo focuses more on gameplay and fun. They are ok with something looking cartoony so long as it is fluid and fun. Games have gotten so immersive, with cut scenes and realistic graphics leading to clunky gameplay it's getting in the way of having fun imo. Even Nintendo has shown this tendency pumping out a few garbage games like the latest 1-2 Switch game. It's all about that profit, but without it you get nothing.

Agree 100%. I don't even play that many non-Nintendo games, but when I do, I get so tired of cutscene after cutscene. I don't want to watch a movie in video game form, I just want to play. They're not even good video game movies. Compared to actual movies, they're garbage.

Iā€™ll always prefer the gameplay-first approach Nintendo takes most, but I also really enjoy cinematic games ā€” a lot of the time due to the attention they deliberately give the narrative. Ghost of Tsushima, RDR2, the Insomniac Spider-man games, the Jedi gamesā€¦ all extremely fun, gameplay-wise ā€” but also offer stories that arenā€™t just ā€œpaint by numberā€ experiences. There are fun games out there, just depends on what youā€™re into.

That said Iā€™ll likely choose a 2D Mario or a pixel graphic Party Hard-style game over most big budget releases by default. Just how Iā€™m wired.

I tried it one time. Didn't do it for me. I was very surprised at all the overwhelming praise. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. Just didn't capture my attention at all. I got bored very quickly. But when something gets so many consistently high reviews, I'd expect to at least enjoy it somewhat. I don't know what to make of it.

Youā€™re not alone. Personally Iā€™ve started HK a few times and while itā€™s a solid platformer/metroidvania style I thinks itā€™s a bit overrated. I think I put 8hrs in on steam and while I do want to go back to it one day, thereā€™s always something else to play.

Your ending statement resonates very strongly. If there's a game that I really enjoy, then that's what I play. But if my view on a game is "there are other games to play," then I know it's not doing it for me.

Admittedly, I've not played very many non-NIntendo games. But, the ones I have played, the stories still weren't that good. It's like, they're trying to be like a movie, but the quality is nowhere near the same. The characters are stiff and really can't convey emotion that well. Most of the dialogue is weak. It all just comes off cheap and cheesy.

That's because they're more fun, nothing crazy about that!

I felt the same way the first time I tried Hollow Knight, it didn't hook me at all. About a year later I tried it again and this time I was REALLY into it...until I looked up the length and found that it's like a 50-hour game. That's crazy long for a Metroidvania game. I stopped playing at that point, but one of these days I'll go back and finish it.

I've been more selective in the games I play these days and what I'm enjoying... I'm guessing because I'm older and don't really have the time to spend playing games especially with my commute to and from work. Right now I've been really into a back and forth between Mortal Shell and Assassin's Creed Black Flag.

How's mortal shell? I was curious about that one.

I came to a tattoo shop today with getting a consultation in mind for a few things I want to get done. That got turned into doing it all today. I have no tattoos currently, and Iā€™ll leave with 2. This escalated quickly.

@nonamesleft - I like it and Elden Ring much better than Dark Souls when I had played it on the 360... Dark Souls frustrated the crap out of me because it took me forever to get out of the tutorial and then just death after death after death. I'm going to go back to Elden Ring eventually, but one thing I'm liking about Mortal Shell is you don't "level up" but you can make your stuff stronger, and if you pay attention enough you can figure out how to fight and beat the mobs... definitely takes a learning curve.

@BucketofJustice - Yep, I got 5 tattoos total so far. My first one was 20 years ago and my last one was.... I honestly don't remember. LOL I've always been told "You get one, you'll want more." That was true for awhile, but do I still want more now? I haven't put thought into it, but maybe I'll get one or two more. I've been focused on other things, but tattoos are "lifetime investments." It really does help to do your homework before getting one to make it a worthwhile lifetime investment.
