What's more fun than winning an eBay auction with no competition? Beating two other buyers by sniping with a bid 25¢ higher!
[imgt w=1600 h=1600]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/aasAAOSwXehjvvTr/s-...[/imgt]
[imgt w=1600 h=1600]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/7KgAAOSwvD9jvvTs/s-...[/imgt]
The price before shipping is $1.34, which means the two other bidders were too apathetic or nervous to bid a whole $2 on this game. Came out to $7.73 with shipping and tax, which is a good deal for it nowadays. I'm starting to find that GB/GBC games aren't the most cost-effective gaming purchases, since you end up paying $10-15 for about two total hours of entertainment, and shipping is about half the price. But the Game Boy is my favorite system and I'm about to start earning considerably more at work, so for now, I indulge. As a wise GameStop cashier told me years ago, "Someday you'll spend much more on much worse." I pay taxes now, so maybe he was onto something! laughing out loud

eBay find. A friend found a weird listing for an item with the game's description, but the title was completely wrong, so I tossed a couple of bucks at it.

Got this casio ct-605 keyboard and a high end mitsubishi vcr for $40 at a random garage sale. The keyboard is sweet I'm keeping it, it came in an sbk case that's worth more than the keyboard

Good memories, I had all those medieval Lego sets at one point. I sold all my Legos during college on Craigslist, I don't really regret it - though maybe I would have kept them if I had the storage space. I still sometimes dream in Legos, though.

Struck out at most garage sales today except one where a woman was selling her ex’s games for 0.25 cents each, so I got The Last of Us Part 1 (PS5). I gave her 0.50 cents and she was like “um sir you forgot your quarter” lol

Turns out the Star Wars Episode 1 Racer cart I bought has serious battery corrosion on the board. The game doesn't boot. I attempted to clean it, but layers of the board start tearing away when I try to remove the corrosion. Hate to say it, but that cart may be totally lost in its current shape.

I made a pretty low offer on a cart with a bad label ($5+shipping when he was asking for 10+shipping) and the seller apparently bit. It's confirmed to work and has no visible corrosion. This whole debacle has cost me almost $20, so this top-down podracing experience had better be worth it!

The only thing worth salvaging from my corroded cart is the good label. I'll use some dot glue to adhere it and have a good replacement.

Well, I found a lot that was posted yesterday, so prob showed up Monday midday or evening. I didn't see it until Tuesday night. Saw: Drowned God in box, saw some king's quest in box, way more, inherent evil in box, some others. I was like I WANT THIS.

Said I want it, she replies today, sold it. Grrrr, it had 70 games for $80. Ayyy, that's not going to get me sharper. But that lot, geez, it was for real REALLY AWESOME. Onto finding other things, if it was my first deal I found, than again prob not, or I cared about money, I'd cry lol

Well Monday morning, or Sunday evening. It was Tuesday before midnight, and said posted yesterday. Drowned God in box would have been worth it alone prob. I remember selling a jewel case for $70. Some good deals, are too good for some of us. Onto others lol

@tarzanpat - you post a lot about PC games.
Do you have a collection pic? Curious to see as I'm not sure we have many PC collectors on this site.

Hi, all's not lost I guess, I found a driver san francisco new in dvd case (you need new to actually play - can't replay on same key). Have one at $150 on ebay with tracked shipping, and now have another. Paid $31 for it mailed.

I find all my deals on either kijiji or facebook marketplace. Toronto is pretty condensed so I try to input other provinces sometimes if I get on that, gotta spend some time at the computer and be productive bs, you know, gotta work or do something so consumption doesn't spoil and sour you lol when it can't be refilled.

I think reddit is probably another one to find deals, but I don't use it much. Kijiji is a Canada thing, but I did occasionally look up us states on fb marketplace. Saw a few deals typing some keywords. PC games is all I know, so if there's a lot, I can scan and be like, this, that, and figure out quickly if I want it. Guess more people are on the hunt, why wouldn't they be, so I guess sometimes I gotta find shipped deals too. But I don't like to pay much before shipping, tried to get a few to make a trade here with me and I promised to even send them a bonus when they got it lol. I don't know, $100 isn't much these days, but I'd feel stupid if I just threw it away. Guess I need more optimism or more shinebright from the good life. Middle of winter, you can't unpout a smile when your hands and face are chapping from sitting out some nights and have a session lol

I have a small collection. Decided to keep a few Matrix Path of Neos, some small box new adventure anthologys, the only game from my youth I decided to keep is Legend of Kyrandia for mac. It was a hard game, lots of mixing things, etc, but it was fun with a hintbook lol.

I don't really "collect" per say, but keep some games. It's not too many, and most of the games I buy I buy to flip. I don't care about making the top dollar for most, but want a fair price and see prices from all over. Sometimes those tactics get me quick sales, so money is coming in, some things, have watchers on, but no bites. Guess if you always undersold you'd make more, but the fact is, if someone wants a game, they'll usually pay for it either after all the cheap ones sell out, or because it's more expensive to ship cross border, and it's a fair deal for most Canucks. WIth US, it's expensive, media mail even in a bubble mailer. Better to get a few things if from the States and I always make cheap sales locally without the fees and sometimes undercut myself just to be sure the person feels they got a deal. But with some games almost doubling up in value : drowned god in jewel example, and a new new for speed underground 2 for pc, it's hard to really feel sorry sometimes when prices are all over the page lol.

But I used to love to collect. Until I started smoking weed, than it wasn't so much for the nostalgia, but for the moment in passing. I wanted to see sights out of this world, so I played adventure games. I wanted to get some tension out, played action games. Wanted to just get wreckless, gta or need for speed lol. But now, I'm trying to have more fun, and get to living life, the good life, the one where you don't go, It's Aight, but you go, HELL YEAH lol

I'm mad now. I bought a cheap copy of Star Wars Episode I Racer Game Boy Color with a good label, but it was too corroded to play or repair. So I bought another cheap copy that was confirmed to work, but it had a torn-up label. So removing the good label and transferring it to the good cart was my next DIY project. My attempt to remove the adhesive with heat was met with immediate opposition by my folks who instead urged me to use sticker removing fluid, which can damage the label. Both failed, so now I'm left with a bad cart with a torn good label and a good cart with none. I could've bought a good cart with a good label for a few dollars more and saved myself the frustration, but the other two purchases have added up to much to justify it.

I could print a new label if I had a color printer, but that wouldn't be official enough to satisfy me. What a letdown.

Agreed. But my own method wasn't getting results, so I went for it anyway. Maybe I'll find a third cheap copy at a flea market or something, so I won't have to pay shipping. Who knows.

Why didn't u try taking the board out of the good cart and putring it in the case of the bad one
SupremeSarna

The bad case had a lot of battery corrosion. I figured the best way to avoid damaging the good board in the longrun was to avoid using the corroded cart altogether, just taking the untainted label.

Oh well, the label is just a boring logo on a black background anyway.

Sometimes when a big lot evades me, I find a single game deal. Found one today, been on since 5pm yesterday...1 view...I offered $120...than said take what I have $133 let me know and I can prob borrow if needed...than caved and said $146. Normally I don't pay that much.

What did I get: Fallout in box pc game think it's complete, has the vault book and jewel and a paper or few. It was $40. Now this was a stellar deal. Why did I pay so much? He priced the strategy guide at $120. I got it for $106. Had money this time, so didn't cheapen out. Saw the original manual sell for a lot of money too. I think I realize the problem, he said he used pricecharting. I'm an ebay guy. All good, will no doubt make 3 bills on both items if not more. Will have to see how I price them, but took it on the subway, but stopped to buy weed and cigs too. Had to use 2 fares, but would have used 1 to get weed, and this was all on the way. Also 1 to make it there and back. All good I think, sometimes these deals are just great. All looks pretty minty too. Good buy.

well, turns out, the person I bought fallout 1 from and the strategy guide - both were mint. He put up Fallout 2 for sale, for $50. I said I can come by. But he wasn't home, and when he was, I missed the first half of the superbowl lol. He said no holds, so I was like, grrr. Turns out the game on one side is a little crumpled, not as nice as I thought. Still will make money, no doubt, but not as good as the first time lol.

Than he goes I have more games, I took morrowind in jewel, and tribunal in small box (but box has a tear at top and a rip under the fold out at front - didn't notice, wanted $20, wanted $20 for pirates! - this I was like maybe I should buy and put in my collection, it is nice, and temple of elemental evil, wanted $20 for each of the games except the elder scrolls ones. I said $45, after he lowered price on pirates, and another deal was born. Except I thought elemental evil is worth something more, some for my collection, but meh, all good. Guess I just pitched some money for the good deals I got, and got something to collect, 3 games for $25 since elemental evil I'll prob sell for $20. All good, deserved a tip. Even though he only replied when he wanted to

Wanted the eagles to soar high over the old capital, more so than the chiefs of kansas' oz lol. No idea

So was browsing and not finding anything, until I thought up a new search term, same search parameters, different results. Sometimes you gotta play around.

Found a Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare new and sealed in small box for $25 priced from $45. It was the same guy who sold me carbon collector's by need for speed and ea new with slipcover for the same price. I said $30 with delivery. Just got it delivered.

Saw it sell for $135, than $240, I'm thinking $200 on ebay is a fair price. We'll see. Keep the hunting going lol, there's gotta be more deals lol

I just nabbed Freakyforms Deluxe and Frozen: Olaf’s Quest (both 3DS) for just under $22. Freakyforms is the real win there, since it’s about $30 loose on average, and that’s still too much IMO. The original Freakyforms was eShop-exclusive but was then pulled after Deluxe released physically. Several years later, homebrewers apparently cracked Deluxe, so Nintendo removed that version from the eShop, too. Now physical is the only way to get it, and the prices are usually unpleasant. I made a $15 offer on the lot and the seller surprisingly agreed to it. Olaf’s Quest is worth about $6 and shipping it wouldn’t be worth it, so I guess I’m stuck with that, too.

That’s what I used. It wasn’t strong enough to easily degrade 20-year-old label adhesive from my experience, but maybe yours would go differently? I can’t call myself an expert in the field.

I haven't tried that, but extra virgin coconut oil works wonders to get label residue off of items. I've used it to get stubborn residue off of CD cases, glass items, etc. I think the fatty acids in the coconut oil breaks down adhesive residue. (Just make sure not to get it onto papers you need/want or cloth - it's oil after all.)

Un-du leaves no residue, it can be used on paper. Hoping to replicate other users' successes and remove some tape from a book I bought. Not sure how it interacts with plastic, I want to research that at some point. It comes in original formulation and low VOC formulation. I bought the former because the reviews for it were more favorable.

Goo-gone is a citrus oil base, sometimes needs to sit and soak the item first. Like your coconut oil, it leaves a residue. Goof-off is also good, it uses something different from goo-gone. The latter worked when the former didn't at removing 10-year old adhesive residue from metal. And a plastic razor is handy.
