What's more fun than winning an eBay auction with no competition? Beating two other buyers by sniping with a bid 25¢ higher!
[imgt w=1600 h=1600]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/aasAAOSwXehjvvTr/s-...[/imgt]
[imgt w=1600 h=1600]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/7KgAAOSwvD9jvvTs/s-...[/imgt]
The price before shipping is $1.34, which means the two other bidders were too apathetic or nervous to bid a whole $2 on this game. Came out to $7.73 with shipping and tax, which is a good deal for it nowadays. I'm starting to find that GB/GBC games aren't the most cost-effective gaming purchases, since you end up paying $10-15 for about two total hours of entertainment, and shipping is about half the price. But the Game Boy is my favorite system and I'm about to start earning considerably more at work, so for now, I indulge. As a wise GameStop cashier told me years ago, "Someday you'll spend much more on much worse." I pay taxes now, so maybe he was onto something! laughing out loud

eBay find. A friend found a weird listing for an item with the game's description, but the title was completely wrong, so I tossed a couple of bucks at it.

Got this casio ct-605 keyboard and a high end mitsubishi vcr for $40 at a random garage sale. The keyboard is sweet I'm keeping it, it came in an sbk case that's worth more than the keyboard

Good memories, I had all those medieval Lego sets at one point. I sold all my Legos during college on Craigslist, I don't really regret it - though maybe I would have kept them if I had the storage space. I still sometimes dream in Legos, though.

Struck out at most garage sales today except one where a woman was selling her ex’s games for 0.25 cents each, so I got The Last of Us Part 1 (PS5). I gave her 0.50 cents and she was like “um sir you forgot your quarter” lol

Turns out the Star Wars Episode 1 Racer cart I bought has serious battery corrosion on the board. The game doesn't boot. I attempted to clean it, but layers of the board start tearing away when I try to remove the corrosion. Hate to say it, but that cart may be totally lost in its current shape.

I made a pretty low offer on a cart with a bad label ($5+shipping when he was asking for 10+shipping) and the seller apparently bit. It's confirmed to work and has no visible corrosion. This whole debacle has cost me almost $20, so this top-down podracing experience had better be worth it!

The only thing worth salvaging from my corroded cart is the good label. I'll use some dot glue to adhere it and have a good replacement.

Well, I found a lot that was posted yesterday, so prob showed up Monday midday or evening. I didn't see it until Tuesday night. Saw: Drowned God in box, saw some king's quest in box, way more, inherent evil in box, some others. I was like I WANT THIS.

Said I want it, she replies today, sold it. Grrrr, it had 70 games for $80. Ayyy, that's not going to get me sharper. But that lot, geez, it was for real REALLY AWESOME. Onto finding other things, if it was my first deal I found, than again prob not, or I cared about money, I'd cry lol

Well Monday morning, or Sunday evening. It was Tuesday before midnight, and said posted yesterday. Drowned God in box would have been worth it alone prob. I remember selling a jewel case for $70. Some good deals, are too good for some of us. Onto others lol

Hi, all's not lost I guess, I found a driver san francisco new in dvd case (you need new to actually play - can't replay on same key). Have one at $150 on ebay with tracked shipping, and now have another. Paid $31 for it mailed.

I find all my deals on either kijiji or facebook marketplace. Toronto is pretty condensed so I try to input other provinces sometimes if I get on that, gotta spend some time at the computer and be productive bs, you know, gotta work or do something so consumption doesn't spoil and sour you lol when it can't be refilled.

I think reddit is probably another one to find deals, but I don't use it much. Kijiji is a Canada thing, but I did occasionally look up us states on fb marketplace. Saw a few deals typing some keywords. PC games is all I know, so if there's a lot, I can scan and be like, this, that, and figure out quickly if I want it. Guess more people are on the hunt, why wouldn't they be, so I guess sometimes I gotta find shipped deals too. But I don't like to pay much before shipping, tried to get a few to make a trade here with me and I promised to even send them a bonus when they got it lol. I don't know, $100 isn't much these days, but I'd feel stupid if I just threw it away. Guess I need more optimism or more shinebright from the good life. Middle of winter, you can't unpout a smile when your hands and face are chapping from sitting out some nights and have a session lol

I have a small collection. Decided to keep a few Matrix Path of Neos, some small box new adventure anthologys, the only game from my youth I decided to keep is Legend of Kyrandia for mac. It was a hard game, lots of mixing things, etc, but it was fun with a hintbook lol.

I don't really "collect" per say, but keep some games. It's not too many, and most of the games I buy I buy to flip. I don't care about making the top dollar for most, but want a fair price and see prices from all over. Sometimes those tactics get me quick sales, so money is coming in, some things, have watchers on, but no bites. Guess if you always undersold you'd make more, but the fact is, if someone wants a game, they'll usually pay for it either after all the cheap ones sell out, or because it's more expensive to ship cross border, and it's a fair deal for most Canucks. WIth US, it's expensive, media mail even in a bubble mailer. Better to get a few things if from the States and I always make cheap sales locally without the fees and sometimes undercut myself just to be sure the person feels they got a deal. But with some games almost doubling up in value : drowned god in jewel example, and a new new for speed underground 2 for pc, it's hard to really feel sorry sometimes when prices are all over the page lol.

But I used to love to collect. Until I started smoking weed, than it wasn't so much for the nostalgia, but for the moment in passing. I wanted to see sights out of this world, so I played adventure games. I wanted to get some tension out, played action games. Wanted to just get wreckless, gta or need for speed lol. But now, I'm trying to have more fun, and get to living life, the good life, the one where you don't go, It's Aight, but you go, HELL YEAH lol

I'm mad now. I bought a cheap copy of Star Wars Episode I Racer Game Boy Color with a good label, but it was too corroded to play or repair. So I bought another cheap copy that was confirmed to work, but it had a torn-up label. So removing the good label and transferring it to the good cart was my next DIY project. My attempt to remove the adhesive with heat was met with immediate opposition by my folks who instead urged me to use sticker removing fluid, which can damage the label. Both failed, so now I'm left with a bad cart with a torn good label and a good cart with none. I could've bought a good cart with a good label for a few dollars more and saved myself the frustration, but the other two purchases have added up to much to justify it.

I could print a new label if I had a color printer, but that wouldn't be official enough to satisfy me. What a letdown.

Agreed. But my own method wasn't getting results, so I went for it anyway. Maybe I'll find a third cheap copy at a flea market or something, so I won't have to pay shipping. Who knows.

Why didn't u try taking the board out of the good cart and putring it in the case of the bad one
SupremeSarna

The bad case had a lot of battery corrosion. I figured the best way to avoid damaging the good board in the longrun was to avoid using the corroded cart altogether, just taking the untainted label.

Oh well, the label is just a boring logo on a black background anyway.

Sometimes when a big lot evades me, I find a single game deal. Found one today, been on since 5pm yesterday...1 view...I offered $120...than said take what I have $133 let me know and I can prob borrow if needed...than caved and said $146. Normally I don't pay that much.

What did I get: Fallout in box pc game think it's complete, has the vault book and jewel and a paper or few. It was $40. Now this was a stellar deal. Why did I pay so much? He priced the strategy guide at $120. I got it for $106. Had money this time, so didn't cheapen out. Saw the original manual sell for a lot of money too. I think I realize the problem, he said he used pricecharting. I'm an ebay guy. All good, will no doubt make 3 bills on both items if not more. Will have to see how I price them, but took it on the subway, but stopped to buy weed and cigs too. Had to use 2 fares, but would have used 1 to get weed, and this was all on the way. Also 1 to make it there and back. All good I think, sometimes these deals are just great. All looks pretty minty too. Good buy.

well, turns out, the person I bought fallout 1 from and the strategy guide - both were mint. He put up Fallout 2 for sale, for $50. I said I can come by. But he wasn't home, and when he was, I missed the first half of the superbowl lol. He said no holds, so I was like, grrr. Turns out the game on one side is a little crumpled, not as nice as I thought. Still will make money, no doubt, but not as good as the first time lol.

Than he goes I have more games, I took morrowind in jewel, and tribunal in small box (but box has a tear at top and a rip under the fold out at front - didn't notice, wanted $20, wanted $20 for pirates! - this I was like maybe I should buy and put in my collection, it is nice, and temple of elemental evil, wanted $20 for each of the games except the elder scrolls ones. I said $45, after he lowered price on pirates, and another deal was born. Except I thought elemental evil is worth something more, some for my collection, but meh, all good. Guess I just pitched some money for the good deals I got, and got something to collect, 3 games for $25 since elemental evil I'll prob sell for $20. All good, deserved a tip. Even though he only replied when he wanted to

Wanted the eagles to soar high over the old capital, more so than the chiefs of kansas' oz lol. No idea

So was browsing and not finding anything, until I thought up a new search term, same search parameters, different results. Sometimes you gotta play around.

Found a Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare new and sealed in small box for $25 priced from $45. It was the same guy who sold me carbon collector's by need for speed and ea new with slipcover for the same price. I said $30 with delivery. Just got it delivered.

Saw it sell for $135, than $240, I'm thinking $200 on ebay is a fair price. We'll see. Keep the hunting going lol, there's gotta be more deals lol

I just nabbed Freakyforms Deluxe and Frozen: Olaf’s Quest (both 3DS) for just under $22. Freakyforms is the real win there, since it’s about $30 loose on average, and that’s still too much IMO. The original Freakyforms was eShop-exclusive but was then pulled after Deluxe released physically. Several years later, homebrewers apparently cracked Deluxe, so Nintendo removed that version from the eShop, too. Now physical is the only way to get it, and the prices are usually unpleasant. I made a $15 offer on the lot and the seller surprisingly agreed to it. Olaf’s Quest is worth about $6 and shipping it wouldn’t be worth it, so I guess I’m stuck with that, too.

That’s what I used. It wasn’t strong enough to easily degrade 20-year-old label adhesive from my experience, but maybe yours would go differently? I can’t call myself an expert in the field.

I haven't tried that, but extra virgin coconut oil works wonders to get label residue off of items. I've used it to get stubborn residue off of CD cases, glass items, etc. I think the fatty acids in the coconut oil breaks down adhesive residue. (Just make sure not to get it onto papers you need/want or cloth - it's oil after all.)

Un-du leaves no residue, it can be used on paper. Hoping to replicate other users' successes and remove some tape from a book I bought. Not sure how it interacts with plastic, I want to research that at some point. It comes in original formulation and low VOC formulation. I bought the former because the reviews for it were more favorable.

Goo-gone is a citrus oil base, sometimes needs to sit and soak the item first. Like your coconut oil, it leaves a residue. Goof-off is also good, it uses something different from goo-gone. The latter worked when the former didn't at removing 10-year old adhesive residue from metal. And a plastic razor is handy.

Also it wasn't the only thing I bought. I also got a mini subwoofer amp for a buddy, a USB hard drive adapter... and a sealed Coraline 4K Steelbook. But the steelbook was... not exactly mint.

I picked this up thinking "I can just find the normal case art and use that, then give away the case for someone to display", but then I realized... the discs have different art than the normal 4K release. Augh. At least they're fine.

I found Star Wars Episode I Racer Game Boy Color at a new game shop today. $10, clean label, complete with with battery cover. But I can't justify spending nearly $30 altogether on my SWEIR campaign just for the sake of a label and battery cover.

But on the bright side, I did score a Wii copy of Spy Fox in "Dry Cereal" for $6. If my bro ever lets my nieces play the Wii I so generously gifted his family in 2019, they'll love it.

Feels fishy but if someone actually got that deal that's wild. Would think even if it was legit to begin with what happens is they get hammered with messages and realize something is up.

Yeah. I’ve seen listings like that, and then the seller basically says that was just to get attention and then lists individual prices for each game that are much higher.

I've ran into that before. Back when CL was more popular there used to be a lot of just straight up time wasters as well. The worst is when they would set up a meeting knowing they aren't going to show up. I ended up with a rule that if someone wasn't going to talk on the phone I wouldn't proceed. Cut a lot of the bs. The move to facebook made that not necessary. Probably because people have their name attached to it. I've not got the ball rolling with anyone local on there and had something not work out yet. I do get people from far away that message me about shipping my listings despite me having things set to pick-up only. I really only list stuff there that isn't worth shipping. Speakers, weight bench, tv stuff like that.

I’ve been talking with the seller after the fact and seems legit, he has other things he’s getting rid of like a PS4, a gaming vest, to a microwave, and bbq pit. He said yes he did get hammered with messages last night and this morning but he believes in first come first served and sold to the first who asked, I was the second

I asked if he wanted to know why he got so many messages this morning and when he said yes I showed him the value of Xenosaga III & .Hack Quarantine and he about flipped his lid but resolved himself to the fact that he gave someone a great deal

Today, I was willing to send $11 for: Barney Under the Sea PC Game. Was asking $4 and at most, lettermail would be $3.60 plus envelope, but I never know how much a single is at these places lol. He said $5 for shipping. Good deal, seller was selling a lot, and I knew barney vhs tapes, some are rare, no real sales if I can recollect, but there was a 30-and odd uk release, and 60-something us release. Pretty sure it's the latter and someone may take it if there is someone with a higher price. No idea lol.

Sold 3 games, little big planets, for $20, even though I later realized I wrote $25 firm. All good, got some games to try gaming at some interval or later, and some to sell. I don't think I sold a ps3 game locally yet. Is the value of most 3 for $10 now? lol. $5 per ain't bang for your buck? lol

Seems I might have missed out on a lot. I was initially going to pay the $500 he wanted, thinking the first picture would leave to more gems in the process. He mentioned there's probably close or around 1000 pieces. Lotsa software I'd have to bundle, 16 big boxes full, and not the square ones. He did have 5 No One Lives Forever in box, 1 same game but GOTY edition, No one Lives forever 2, and 2 Die Hard Trilogy in box games. That's what made me jump on it. But after seeing all the software, german language, french language, learn english, there were a few alright software but lotsa junk. He did mention lotsa jewel case games new and sealed, but when he laid them out, it seemed they were all card or something less than quality games. And games in small boxes or dvd cases, some were sealed, but like, Cake Mania 3 Deluxe or something lol. I did today say, $400, than $420, than said $450 but no more, the work scares me. I think he wants to do something else with it now after me not going through, but starting to pitch for more gas, and she was like, $50. $550, and No One Lives Forver, all of them could have averaged to $100 on ebay or more, $80 profit a piece, that would have been my money. But I like good looking lots, and don't feel like overhauling myself for a week and a half with junk, so kinda glad I changed my mind. I would have overwhelmed myself lol

Usually I get good vibes from something when I make a deal. Today, sent $20, wasn't even an AMAZING deal, just a deal, that I thought I wanted. Thought with shipping it'd be $30 since all the games were priced at $10. I sent the money, sent the address...after my money went in, she didn't reply. She said the shipping would be $10, again, like a previous time, I thought shipping was low. Told me to send to a university email, maybe university kids don't have money, and this is what they do for beer money - make a page with lots of cheap items, some items are standout deals, and than collect and disappear. Ha ha, nah, what world is this. Hopefully she sends, but again, said tomorrow, there's now. I tend to believe people are honest unless they need something and have no way of getting to it, than they find other ways. I dunno what to think, def think shipping won't be that cheap, was too early in the morning for me, but there's no reason to assume, rather than just get some flags you don't like in terms of making deals. No response after money deposited - might be a grab and go lol. Meh, if that's the case, it's a hard lesson for me to be wiser and smarter with my money, not start spending here and there when I have some lol

Hmmm...now looking at her page, she's got lots of friends, maybe not a scammer. I would feel better if she replied, or somehow felt the full price I paid would be the cost of shipping...no idea lol

Smoked some better weed, feel better. Don't sweat the small things, but sometimes you like to feel content, and every trade involving shipping that's not via a mediator, is always something of a rush/buzz/ride beforehand. Gotta feel it, but I guess I went to cancel the etransfer, and it was taken, and there was a question she had to input, as it wasn't inputted, and no, thanks got it, will send tomorrow, take care....lol. I dunno

Lol, maybe I get too high. I like and trust people, but somehow the $10 shipping rate didn't make sense. Today she sent a tracking number, saying label created. I take it if label is created, she paid for it. Also noticed a 50% off shipping for new business for 12 months.

That may explain it. I'm back to loving ppl. Why relinquish into old mindsets, probably due to your own ineptness when in this world, there are good people who are trying to clear some space and move ahead like everyone else. Meh, there's always something that may go wrong. Seems by buying deals, with a negative mindset, it could be like minesweeping. Bad experience with London, by a student, but should have realized with that many friends, if I wrote that bs on her page, she wouldn't need that. Just always feel better with feedback, but I actually went to cancel the etransfer as it was sent, but she accepted, cuz I was like, the shipping...ok than. Back to the drawing board and hopefully waiting for 2 packages.

all that fuss, and no mention to what I'm getting. was mainly interested in possibly the doom and wolfenstein sharewares for me or will sell them off, some others in there and the command and conquer domination pack soundtrack new and sealed. others will be hard sells lol except wizardry maybe

not much of a haul, don't sweat the small stuff, I think I have to think or overthink and when it's the end of something, it's like the beginning of something, some confusion, some dread, some resistance...but gotta be in it to make it happen, and sometimes you just gotta go by the friend list if no ratings or the demeanour of the person, I had no reason to doubt that, except my peanut brain thought, they heard money coming in, they were like take, but when I said $25 maybe $30, why'd she say $20. Alright than, onto more progressive thinking lol

got this for $35 and a single presto metro fare. The real winners are you are empty, the spongebob game, I know the counter strike and call of duties sell locally fairly quick, maybe the unreals will too. Will put half life online. bloodrayne and breakout dvd game, unsure if even worth to sell out or will put locally and just let idle lol. Maybe I'm spending too much money making ok deals lol just need to get out of the house

This deal stayed in touch, not that great again, but last picture of games is all sealed, and I think stranglehold is too. He was out of the province, now back in, and said once his nephew gets here, he lives in Toronto, they're not too far, just won't spend the drive getting it, and will pay $50 delivered for it. Not delivered yet lol

Not going to lie here: I think this thread is better when you actually have the items in your possession...and deals you're finding on CL or the like always have the possibility of falling through, so they're not quite "finds", as you haven't obtained them yet.

Am I the only one who feels this way? This isn't to discredit your posts, @tarzanpat , but some of these deals have fallen through for you...and while I don't dislike seeing listings...it just doesn't feel like it fits the theme of this thread.

Grand total of 45 cents? Now that's a score for sure. Nice!

I think I have a quarter in my pocket right now. I'll give it to you for that first game. Think of the 25% profit margin. 🤩

Not gonna lie, while testing the Destroy All Humans! 2 game, I kinda like it! The voice of the robotic guy is the same VA who voiced Zim from Invader Zim, and I LOVE it, lol. Also, all the references..."Open the pod bay doors, Hal" and "Nikita Kruschev with a _ " really stood out.

So a couple things here that mostly fit the find thread.

Got a Martin Logan Dynamo 700 coming. It was posted on an audio site for free but local pick up. I waited awhile before messaging to see if they would ship. I offered to pay a bit, but the guy said just the cost of shipping is fine. So he figures about $90 (less than my offer, think it's fine and he should be able to ship for this price). Guy sends me the receipt for the tracking number and whatnot. Turns out he went to the UPS store (big mistake) and ended up paying $157. Said to not worry about the difference. Well of course I had to check pirateship to see what it would have ran me for the same package. $57. OOF.

The talk about Metroid Prime Remastered here reminded me a store here had some copies because they are limiting to 1 per person. So I figure if I'm going there to get one to sell at cost here I'd like some other reasons to go to make it more worth the trip. I check their website for console trade-in prices and see $40 cash for old model PS1s. Yeah that seems nutty. I debate how many to take but just take two, don't want to push it. Grab a couple of the older models since I want those gone the most, take it there and got $55 in credit each. Covered Metroid Prime Remastered and banked the rest. We talked a bit of course and he said you are definitely the last person getting this rate. Sure enough on the site now it's $20 cash/$26 credit.

Well, I was right. She did ship, but she didn't include the sealed domination pack music cd which there was a picture of. She included some extras, prob all real commons, prob king's quest VI is the best in the bunch. For $20 with shipping, it was aiight, but still not that good. She didn't take my money and run, or buy beer with it lol, but whatever. She claims it's not there, maybe she sold a few lots, and this was in the music cd pile for one reason or another, no idea. Not browsing deals today, outta money, if ebay pays up, will be looking early next week. Weekends, sometimes find good deals, but there's more people free and looking. We'll see. Paid $20 for each game, the big winners are redguard and anachronox. Decided to keep the older title cuz the title speaks to me lol, so prob going to make $200 off of it after subtracting investment and taking one for me. Funny thing about this, is it was the same dude that sold me the fallout games during superbowl. Sold both games the next day, and the person bought 2 other games from my stockpile alongside them. I saw some games as I logged in at midnight, told myself no more looking for deals today, but it was midnight, technically or not technically, a new day lol. And I browse other games he had, and found the more valuable games. Decent haul, won't list out yet, got a contest run to do tomorrow.
