Topic The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Currently has a May 12 2023 release date. That's just over 4 months away. That's not so far, but there isn't that much known about it.

Here's a video that has the reveal trailer and other info that has so far been released.

Is it unusual for such an anticipated title that's only several months away to not have much known about it?

I don't usually follow games along their pre-release stages, so perhaps a lack of info is standard.

Personally, I'd rather a lack of info when it comes to games that I plan on playing. I don't care for spoilers, or to watch every trailer that comes out.

I'd have thought there'd be more out about it though. But again, I don't usually follow along with the progress of game development.

Definitely a game I'm looking forward to though.

Usually the super popular games are easy to find and purchase anytime you want from the big sellers. It’s the low demand games that don’t get stocked much and can be harder to get at launch

It was the pre-order bonus for Portrait of Ruin. I can't remember if I sold mine of not...I think I did because of what people were paying for it. Like $80 or something.

The old me would've tried to find a way to get every pre-order bonus. The current me just settled for a Collector's Edition from Best Buy and a regular edition from Amazon (when it was $59.99).

Although there's still a bit of old me here...I got the TotK OLED and it's still just sitting in it's box. I even pre-ordered the carrying case for it.

I have completely given up on all the collector's edition and pre-order bonus crap. I have so much stuff just collecting dust that I never open or use. It just takes up space and collects dust. I just pre-ordered the basic standard version, and I'll be happy with that.

That's how I feel. My train of thought is that I can sell off most everything when I retire sometime in the next 13 years (hoping by 50, if not earlier).

Oh for sure, I just don't think the fanny pack is going to be highly desired like you seemed to think.

Got an unexpected package today from Arkansas. Tilted it and heard what could be a game and wall scroll. Did Walmart ship early? No. It was a book my wife must have ordered. I was already contemplating taking Thu-Fri off. LOL

My Best Buy pre order says “expected to ship by Friday May 12”. Anyone who has used BB for preorders know if that means it’ll ARRIVE by Friday, or if it’ll only be shipped out by Friday? Will be disappointing if it’s the latter considering I have a BB like 2 towns over, but I guess I’ll take what I can get at this point. It was a late preorder after all.

Just look for it in store on Friday, return or cancel the BB order if not being delivered on Friday (if finances allow).

My Walmart order is still in "Preparing" status. I'm darn tempted to do the voucher program and get it digitally for $50. Then when the game shows up with the gold scroll I can decide on if I want to keep it as a spare for the kids or return it.

@BucketofJustice Probably not. It has some differences, but it's very much the same style of game from what I can tell.

The combat apparently remains the same, as does the gameplay. The main attractions here seem to be the vastly expanded over world, the inclusion of dungeons, and the mechanic that allows you to blend weapons/items together. I assume if you didn’t like the core of BOTW, you may not dig this one.

It's BotW with simple crafting. (Simplifed explanation)

I never go to midnight releases anymore because I'm too old for that sh*t. However, I'm taking the day of tomorrow just to play this, and my local GS doesn't open until 11:00.
