Currently has a May 12 2023 release date. That's just over 4 months away. That's not so far, but there isn't that much known about it.

Here's a video that has the reveal trailer and other info that has so far been released.

https://youtu.be/30DPu43_Uko

Is it unusual for such an anticipated title that's only several months away to not have much known about it?

I don't usually follow games along their pre-release stages, so perhaps a lack of info is standard.

Personally, I'd rather a lack of info when it comes to games that I plan on playing. I don't care for spoilers, or to watch every trailer that comes out.

I'd have thought there'd be more out about it though. But again, I don't usually follow along with the progress of game development.

Definitely a game I'm looking forward to though.

Yes, but I don't remember it being as bad as it is in TotK. Also, that was originally developed for the Wii U.

I've heard that the frame rate issues are especially jarring for people that have been playing frequently on higher performing devices like the PS5 or PC. Given Nintendo's track record for the performance of open world games lately, my expectations were set low for the performance. From my understanding, they did release a patch that helps in some areas and will probably continue to provide more updates as time goes on.

Seeing similarly styled games like Genshin Impact play at nearly 60fps on a Galaxy S23 and emulators being ran on the Steam Deck and Ally performing better than the Switch in some cases shows that mobile SoCs have come a long way since the Switch was launched. It'll be interesting to see if Nintendo starts targeting 60+ FPS with their new hardware or if they'll cheap out.

My friend's GameStop had some trivia and giveaways, including some clothing (I want to say sleeves, scarves, etc.).

Sounds fun. And a scarf would have been cool.

Trivia? I wonder if they quizzed people on the series and awarded prizes to the correct ones.

People complained about it back then. I've run into the issues talked about and a couple funny glitches, but nothing that impacted fun or gameplay so far.

One thing I've noticed that's an intentional design choice is some stuff is harder to find. It was nice in BotW as most hills had chests on them, any many water sources had chests in them. TotK it's rare, and unlike BotW where many had clothes, rupees, good stuff in TotK you get weaker gear and arrows.

The only complete outfit I have I had to look up how to get it, and even then it was a pain to get. I don't think I ever would have found them without looking it up, 2/3 pieces were hidden too well.

I have a lot of mixed feelings on this game. There are a lot of aspects I don't like (just like I felt about BotW), but at the end of the day, the annoyances and things I don't like aren't nearly enough to prevent me from enjoying the game. I'm having a blast with it!

I still haven't gone back since late Friday ... I'm still super early into it (did like 4 shrines on the ground). I definitely love it, but I can already tell I'm gonna be annoyed with the building element. While it's super cool, my fear is it's going to be relied upon constantly and it's just gonna get annoying/frustrating after awhile vs. ... just let me play the damn game! We'll see!

I enjoyed building on the sky island, and I enjoy it in shrines, but I have very little interest in it outside of that.

It's pretty much most the shrines I've encountered. Many of them are a tutorial after the tutorial. I'm enjoying them none the less, have already maxed out my stamina and am now going for hearts. Figured Three of the "dungeons" will require special clothes (unless you go the food buff route, no thanks), so attacking shrines and side quests to improve Link while hopefully gathering items and rupees to get me what I need for the main story.

Oh man. I just loaded up my game and I quit on a dumbass gyro puzzle. This is awful. Why can't I just use a stick to move it?

I completely agree. I came across a boss I was underpowered for, so needle fighting it, I took about 10 minutes to build some cool rotating flamethrower contraption. I thought it was so cool. The boss walked right through it and smashed it in 3 seconds.

Does anybody have suggestions on where to stock up on arrows? I had over 100 early in the game up on the sky island. I thought the game would just hand them out like candy. But I flew through them so fast and now I can barely keep any in stock.

You can get a decent amount in shrines, and farm them from easy enemies. I had close to 200 after 20 shrines, but since I've been doing side quests I'm down to 50. This may be the stingiest Zelda ever for rupees, so I don't dare buy them.

Also just found out there is a lady that marks caves for armor.

I've been doing okay with arrows. I think I mostly get them from smashing the wooden boxes all over the place. I agree about the game being stingy with rupees. Selling minerals seems like the best way to get them so far.

I did the Wind Temple. Not the best Zelda dungeon, but not bad either.

Found her on the road, helped her and she mark the map with three Fashion Locations.

Tears using your BOTW save data was pretty cool too. I enjoyed that when it popped up.

Same. I've already had a few shrine moments where I did what Nintendo wanted me to do, but because I was off by one pixel, or tried to be too careful, I ended up wasting twenty minutes thrashing the solution.

In one of the shrines, there's a heavy stone elevator that you need to put fans under to help it lift you up. After a few failed attempts with one and two fans, I put four fans on the underside, and the elevator wouldn't budge.

Then I removed one fan, and the elevator shot up like a bat out of Hell. Science, doges.

I'm getting more and more into it as time goes on, but I'm still really intimidated by how much there is to do, how much you have to explore and experiment, and how long it's going to take to finish. I had a lot more time to game back when Breath of the Wild was released, but things have changed a lot since then.

Does it notify you in some way that it's doing this? I don't remember seeing anything. How exactly does it use our BotW save data?

All these people saying the game takes around 40-50 hours to complete are crazy. I fully expect to play this for well over 100 hours. I'm about 10 hours in, and I feel like I've explored nothing and I still have basic level weapons and gear.

Same here. I'm just not creative at all, and don't have that type of engineering mind. That's ok though, I'm completely content with just enjoying everything this game has to offer aside from building. I don't feel like I'm missing out on much. It may be fun at some point down the road, when I have tons of resources in the game, to find some guides to build some really cool stuff like that and play around with them. But I'm really not concerned with it at the moment.

I was extremely slow and methodical with my exploring in BotW. Including DLC, I ended up clocking in around 235 hours. I fully expect to at least match that in this game.

So my kid dinking around stumbled across what looked like a shrine only there was no shrine. He left and kept dinking around. Last night I went back to it and I'm glad I did. Got the one thing I was most looking forward from the trailer. For some reason I thought it was going to be an item or upgrade to the glider. Had to go to bed so didn't get to play around with it much, but looking forward to it tonight!

Well, ain't that some crap? Amazon JP put labels on the damn box ...

Their pretty legit though, full size utensils. Do I open them? Yeah, I think so. Just need to find a home. I just had to demote some Zelda crap, I am maxed out on room.
