Added this too. I didn't add it at first because I swore it would be placeholder. Now I'm starting to think this really is the final box art.

so that's 6 games from the direct I'm hyped for with box pics now. The only one I'm waiting for is DQ Monsters: The Dark Prince.

If the Mario RPG background was at least a different color it would be much better, but that white background is terrible.

yeah I special game deserves special box art. There's literally nothing going on. Not the biggest deal since the game is what matters. But they obviously put so much effort into this remake, zero effort on the box art, lol.

I'm not crazy about it, but the Remake box art is inspired by the original Super Famicom box art.

There is also a similar image used for the soundtrack.

I'm in the minority here but I like the simplistic cover, even more so after seeing the SFC cover:

picked up a few of the "cheaper" Nintendo DS games to build back up my collection a bit. Cooking Mama 2, I'm really looking forward to trying this one. Lock's Quest, FFIII, True Swing Golf. Anyone remember true swing golf? You pull the stylus down and flick up to hit the ball. I remember playing that one.

True swing golf isn't bad, but it's weird playing a 'serious' golf game from Nintendo after years of Mario Golf.

yeah it's well made. The fact that's is more vanilla serious makes it unique! I definitely think having to carefully flick just right is a cool gimmick.

Interested to hear everybody's take on the Pikmin 4 demo. I'm happy to hear the general consensus is very positive, but I'm really not liking it so far. People keep praising the graphics. I think it looks oversaturated. The pausing of throwing Pikmin once you reach the needed amount sucks. I am missing the dismiss button too. Maybe that will be an added skill for later. The controls feel too loose but also too rigid at the same time (locking onto items).

I need to play it still. Probably should so I will know to pre-order it or not.

My son (9) has been playing the demo and really likes it. He hasn't played any of the previous ones so I think if he tried those now (without the dog) he wouldn't like them so much. But he really likes this and the demo is VERY long...and let's you play far longer than it has any right to.

> People keep praising the graphics

Oh come on. There's no way anybody thinks these graphics are more than ok for 2023. It's typical Nintendo though...super charming and the unique design language and style makes the graphic fidelity honestly not be as necessary. So it's totally fine but Pikmin 4 looks just like what I remember Pikmin 1 looking like when that came out.

Koopa Cape and Daisy Cruiser! That new track looks pretty good too, and the Super Circuit remakes are usually solid because they're such huge upgrades from the originals. I can't believe they still haven't done Wario Stadium (MK64) though! It's been the only MK64 track to not be remade for quite some time now. Hopefully it's planned for Wave 6.

I like how it takes places inside of a specific room of a house, but you're shrunk down, kinda like that one track in the kids room with all the toys. Using a bathroom was another great idea!

I told my kids about the MK update and they were excited. I then told them they'd have to update Zelda which will remove the duping glitch. They said sell Mario Kart. LOL

On BotW - in order to find the memories how is that done? Like you just run the whole map looking for it? It's a bit of a pain I guess can just google the locations and try to find it but I was hoping there were like some internal clues somewhere or something.

Wait, were you just messing with them, or do you have to update all games with available updates all at once?

I agree with that about the graphics. Part of what I enjoy about Nintendo's style of games is the pleasing art style and the charm and polish that I've come to expect from Nintendo games. Personally, I consider the graphics secondary. I don't must have every blade of grass moving independently in order to really appreciate a game.

There are other platforms for that if someone wants to experience the best graphics out there.

Great question. There's a painter that travels Hyrule. You can find him at several stables. If you speak to him, he'll give you clues. In your sheika slate, there are pictures that show clues of where memories are, based on what the painter tells you. It's a unique challenge, seeing if you can find an area simply based on a photo that the painter shows you. Some are easier than others.

For example, imagine that there's a part in the game where you meet a talking apple that juggles mayo jars. That image would likely stick in your mind. And if the painter showed you an image of that talking apple, you'd quite possibly be like "oh yeah, the apple was near that village near the waterfall."

But now imagine that the painter showed you an image of several trees. Much less distinct. Might be harder to recall where those trees are.

I'd suggest going to a bunch of stables until you find the painter.

I'm not 100% sure, but I assume you can turn off updates from what I've read. That said (if true) I was messing with them.

The same source who correctly revealed when the current Switch was going to launch is now saying the Switch successor will launch first quarter 2024.

If that turns out to be true, having just recently upgraded to a switch OLED, I actually don't regret it. Was a good upgrade.

But that also means that I doubt I'd go for the switch successor immediately.

Might & Magic Clash of Heroes. Release date is July 20th. I don't see anything about pre-ordering the game. Does this indicate that the release is only digital?

Nintendo's website is showing the price as $17.99. I think that's a pretty good indicator this is intended as a digital only title.

mario kart 8 deluxe $29.99 amazon prime day. I was waiting for it to hit $39.99 again but couldn't pass this price up, what with the DLC courses wrapping up this fall. Can't wait to play all those new courses after I purchase the full set.

8 years since Satoru Iwata took the Rainbow Road home. VIZ Media released Ask Iwata in English from Hobonichi, telling the story of Mr. Iwata in his own words and including messages from his colleagues and friends Shigeru Miyamoto and Shigesato Itoi. The Impact of Iwata book, which plans to tell stories of Mr. Iwata from fans the world over, has a Kickstarter which ends in 2 days. Consider supporting Nintendo Force and a bunch of awesome artists (...and me) by checking out the project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nfpublishing/...

Q1 N's fiscal year? (Apr-Jun '24) That would line up with the Switch release, right?

If it's Q1 calendar year that seems like bad timing for the states. Missed the holiday season, taxes coming due, refunds not yet issued.
