I have 133 digital games on my PS3 Slim, plus whatever update/dlc and save data goes along with them. I think it's a 320gb system and I have about 100gb free still.
The biggest difference of course is that disc games on PS3 still mostly ran from the disc instead of installing everything to the hard drive and just using the disc as a drm key.
