I have a Lenovo desktop system with a MTM77521YU motherboard and a 280W power supply. Last week, it would not respond to the power switch. i.e. There was no indication it was powering up - no lights, no fans, no POST. I checked, and there was 120V at the power cord. A couple of days later, I tried it again. It booted on the first press of the button and I was able to use it for a couple of hours with no problems. I shut it down as usual, but it would not power on again this week. The button feels fine and I hear a "click" when I press it, but I can't get a volt-ohm meter to it to check whether the switch is opening and closing properly.

Any suggestions on what the problem is and how do I pinpoint it?

I would guess bad/failing power supply or possibly the motherboard. Do you have another PSU you can test a swap with?

Unplug everything and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Plug everything back in and try again.

Built in Graphics or does it have a separate GPU? I agree that it's probably a PSU maybe motherboard... but I have seen a bad GPU do this in the past.

Also something could be shorting out. I had a USB port on my computer that was smashed in somehow, maybe I had bumped it with my knee but it was shorting out my PC. I unplugged the front USB and the PC worked great. I had to order a new IO header but I was provided one for free since it had been updated.
