Are there any e-bike riders in the land of GTZ? My wife and I ordered two Mokwheel Asphalt's and hope to pick them up from a kinda local dealer around mid-March. We tried e-scooters but not a lot of places to ride those comfortably, and with out getting mean looks from walkers/runners/bikers.

I have a Pedego and I love it for long rides, like 20+ mile rides. Not so much for shorter rides. For that I still prefer a regular bike. I used to have a second e-bike but got rid of it and bought an elliptical bike (ElliptiGo), which I actually really love more than anything else. It is so much fun to ride. I also love all the weird looks I get while riding it. You basically stand up and run while riding it.

The prices on these e-bikes is just so jarring.

Those ellipti-bike things are very cool. Too much exercise for me though lolol

They are, but the e-bikes will get me and the wife out together so should be worth it. I love biking anyway so Im a lot more excited than she is.

I see they are selling my exactly model now for $2,995. That is insane. I only paid just under a third of that back in 2020. And I feel its paid for itself with how much use it gets. It also came with a lifetime warranty for parts. I see now they only offer 5 years. I would not buy it for the price they want now.

I bought an Aventon Adventure almost 12 months ago and I have over 2,600 miles on it. Unless you are comfortable working on a bike I would suggest buying an ebikes from a local bike shop so when problems arise you have somewhere you can get help and they also will do the warranty obstacle course for you which is extremely helpful... Research, research and also a little more research about what kind of ebikes you need depending on what you need them for.. They have commuters, mountain bikes, cargo bikes, etc ... Not all "ebikes" are street legal so you need to find out what local laws are and make sure you don't exceed speed, power, etc that some places have on ebikes.. I have 3 cars and I'm going down to one because I can do anything I need locally on my bike. I have been testing going grocery shopping, Lowe's, Nurseries, Dr appointment, Trulieve, lunch dates with the wife, festivals, etc... My town has a biking infrastructure with paved bike trails, bike lanes, restaurants, stores and shopping off the trails for riders...

I built my own e-bike. I could have started with a better basis than I did, I wasted a lot of money on stuff like disc brakes that I could have had stock, but I re-used a bottom tier Trek from like 2010 hybrid bike / comfort bike.

With the gearing I got it maxes at like 22 mph, a pretty decent speed for a bike. I have some steep hills nearby, it does those at like 12 mph minimum.

Thats cool! 12 mph minimum on a hill is no joke. I dont get the need for speed demons on ebikes wanting to ride at super speeds like 28 or over. My escooter will hit like 22-23 with my 255 pounds on it, but I usually just cruise at 12-13. No sense in the madness. Maybe because I had two bike wrecks in my 40s that required stitches. I respect that pavement.

I definitely could use an e-bike. Bought an analog bike last year thinking it would be nice way to get outside. I live in rural Montana…. I did not consider all of the hills I have in my neighborhood. The bike now mostly sits in my garage.

I'd completely recommend doing one of these yourself. I would start either with a mountain bike or a fat tire bike. Personally I would go fat tire bike.

that with the 1000w kit would get you something complete. It's aluminum frame so lighter than the cheapest e-bikes out there.

I kind of want to build one with something like that as the bases. Go lightweight, titanium and carbon for frame, fork, wheels. Might have to go aluminum for wheels, but saving like 400 grams on your wheels is pretty big. Then get name brand rear cassette, shifter, hydraulic brakes, and you're good to go.
