Long story short, i bought a S22 ultra back on Dec 28 and it got delievery on Dec 29. Due to high value of the item it required signature. However, it was just put insode my mailbox. To my horror, once i open it, i discover the s22 box have been ripped out and there is no phone. Upon further inspection, i discover evidence of resealing of the orignal shipping box. I immedically contracted Best buy online chat and i was given a return label and was told ship back what remain and i would get my refund. I ship it out right away and of course i kept m,y ups receipt.

Come a week or 2 later there is still no refund so i posted on Best Buym forum and ask about it. Agent told me to report the theft to Fedex and claim the loss with Fedex. I did so but Fedex rejected it because per contract, Best Buy as the shipping party is suppose to be the one who initial the claim. At this point I also filed a police report. I went back to the best buy forum and i say Fedex say best buy is suppose to be the one who fail claim. Now another best buy agent will investiage the box tha6t i send back and he claim best buy didn't receive it. Fortunely i still have the ups drop off ticket and the tracking number proof it have been delivered. Now i am waiting and debating my next step. It almost felt like Best buy somehow don't want to file claim with Fedex and want to push the respondiblity to ups.

I paid with paypal debit so it is easy for me file complain and checkback to get money back but I consider it my final option. What steps should i follow next

Fedex is horrible about claims FWIW. I'd just file a chargeback and be done with it. I'm not sure a local store manager could help you, but worth a shot if you want to try to get somewhere with someone.

put them on blast on Twitter by taking pictures of the package you received and a little blurb about what happened

be sure to put @BestBuy and/or @FedEx

Then within a day or two someone will slide in your dms about this issue

Dude on my street worked for FedEx and got fired for stealing. He came across a package containing weed , stole 2 ounces and threw the rest of the package onto another truck. The person who was also there alerted a supervisor and he was fired. When he told me the story he was so nonchalant that it couldn't have been his 1st time but the person who told was a trainee and probably didn't know that they steal.

Edit: Must have been for a dispensary.

Similar thing happened to me about a year ago, except it was with Walmart. I had ordered a Switch OLED from them. It was supposed to require a signature, but I was at work and saw that the tracking updated and said it had been delivered. The box was nowhere to be found, and I'm sure it wasn't stolen by neighbors. I had to go back and forth between Walmart and Fedex multiple times because they kept wanting to put the burden on the other. I eventually got the right person on the phone at Walmart and they initiated my refund and said they would submit the claim with Fedex.

Fedex won't do crap, they'll only tell you that the company who sent the item has to file the claim, and it looks like Best Buy won't do it. I tried getting help when they refused to drop off that package and left it in a warehouse hours away from here, and they never budged.

I'd visit a local Best Buy store to get help, as others have suggested. They're more likely to listen to an actual employee trying to help you out. And if that doesn't work, call your credit card company and do a chargeback as a last resort.

Reminds me of something that happened not too long ago. Friend of mine got a notification that a package was delivered. There was even a picture of the package on his doorstep. He immediately went to the door but there was no package there. He had the thought that maybe the delivery driver took the package, because how could the package disappear within a minute of being delivered?

He went to his neighbor across the street who has security cameras and asked if he would be willing to search through the footage. And they found a video at that time showing the driver bringing a box, putting it down, taking a picture, and then picking up the box, putting it back in his car, and leaving. He didn't even rush, took his sweet time. I saw the video myself. The nerve of that delivery guy. No shame.

I don't know. I didn't ask. But I think there was something about contacting the delivery company or the company he bought from to let them know about the rogue driver.

The interesting part to me is that it was apparently sent with Signature Delivery and FedEx didn't get one? Don't get me wrong -- I would put this all back on Best Buy to resolve -- that is how it should be. But if I also wanted to push it some with FedEx, I would be asking them why a signature-required package was left without a signature. Did the driver fake it?

Fed Ex doesn't deliver to mail boxes. Was it USPS?

Good point. By "mailbox", assumed he meant some apartment drop-box or something. But if he means a real "mailbox", then FedEx is indeed not supposed to even open those. They are technically USPS property.

When my incident happened, Fedex told me that it said on their end that a signature had been received, but when they actually tried to open/view it or whatever, there was no signature. I don't really know how their system works, but I assumed the driver hit something to say the signature had been recorded, but we obviously didn't sign, so nothing had actually been recorded. I expressed how much of a problem this was and that they needed to investigate that driver. They said once a claim was filed by Walmart, they would, but that would have to be the starting point.

I forgot to mention in my example that my wife Was home when they claimed to have delivered the package and got the signature. She was in the living room reading and definitely would have heard a knock.

FedEx drivers have been faking signature’s for awhile now, I have them on camera faking the signature required for my replacement iPhone, I have them on camera faking the signature required for my first steam deck. Signature required just doesn’t hold the same weight it did years ago, I would speculate this is happening because it looks good for a fedex driver’s metrics to come back to hq with an empty truck than several failed attempts at delivery

Yes, I know why they do it. But, in this case, with a missing package -- it might end up actually mattering more.

This and a few other reasons are why I ordered my oled direct from Nintendo. Firstly I’m a nerd, so I liked the idea of buying the system direct and actually thought it was cool to do it. But just in case anything went wrong with delivery, malfunctions, damage, etc I wanted to know that the only people I would have to deal with were going to be nintendo. Who out of all the corporations I mistrust and dislike I consider them to be relatively wholesome. Sure they make hand over fist cash, but their products haven’t cheapened, neither have the quality or content of their first party software and I actually trust them for whatever reason. I don’t trust any of these big corporate pricks.
