Yeah its the remake of 3 in the P5 engine. So it will look and probably feel a little like P5. But it should be pretty close to P3 mechanically. And in my opinion P3 is a far better game than P5. I like both P3 and P4 far better than P5. I'm actually very excited to play this. I just hope they didn't change too much about it. I'm already very annoyed they changed all the voice actors. And removed a bunch of the original songs. The OST for P3 is amazing. I don't get why they would change it.

Was P3 the one where you only controlled 1 character but not the rest of the party? If so, is that changed in the new version?

And I’m with @Archer. Persona 3 over Persona 5 very easily. But then again I think most people think their first Persona game is the best.

@Archer I'm sure someone will mod in the original tracks to the PC version. The new version of Mass Destruction just doesn't feel right.

@Heavyd814life It's not...a bad remix, but I don't think it's as good. You'll only hear it during neutral encounters. They have a new song for player advantage battles, which isn't too bad. Every Persona game has an awesome soundtrack, so I have faith that they know what they're doing.

But for the music, its all new remixes/re-makes of some of the songs, and they suck. And then they added new ones and removed some. Its the thing I've been silently raging about for a couple months.

I guess for me who has never really played P3 or any game besides P5 the music and new voice actors doesn't really matter. It sounds like it's basically a brand new awesome game for someone like me, and I am hoping the story is good since you all seem to like it even more than P5. I am also glad that it's on gamepass because now I can play it off my laptop for free, as I travel a lot I can HDMI to a hotel TV and play it really anywhere.

I'll give it a shot once it comes out, but I am hoping it goes hard. I know the Nier Replicant remake for example was amazing in every single way and I loved every minute of the game, so I am hoping they make this one as fresh.

So I played P3R last night for 2 hours. I don't think I'll play anymore. I'm clearly not the target audience for this. The voice acting took about an hour to get over. Except for Yukari, they butchered her character. Wrong tone and they removed her snarky standoff start and made her sweet and cheery. Also I hate the music. I'm bummed because I was excited to play a remake version of my favorite Persona game in a modern engine. And I just don't like this. This game was clearly made for the rabid P5 fan base and not fans of the original game.

I think it might be for someone like me as you describe in your last sentence. Never played any Persona game except 5, not a "rabid" fan but I did like it, so this would be really fresh and not something that I would even know about any changes.

Yeah, people who played P5 as their first persona game is who this is targeting. I think you'll probably like it.

I bounced off of Persona 3 hard the first time around, loved P4G, and P5R is maybe my favorite game ever.

Giving 3 another shot in the hopes that a fresh coat of paint might make it more accessible for me. Just gotta get through the early draggy bit that every Persona game starts with heh.

As an aside, anybody know what that weird box GameStop gave out as a preorder bonus is? I don't remember seeing anything about one, but they gave me one when I picked my copy up.

I've beaten the second true boss. Music difference kinda bothers me. The VA changes don't bother me, other than as previously mentioned Yukari. I haven't played in over 10 years though, I hated the portable versions and could never go back to AI controlled party members. I'm loving it so far.

@theyrhere If you play on PC you're almost guaranteed to get a mod to replace the music. A few gameplay/graphics mods have already popped up.

Really enjoying so far. About 7 hours in. I like the music, story, gameplay etc. definitely feels like PS5 just in another universe.

I tried the SSGI mod for graphics but honestly it kinda jacked with the FPS and I didn't think it really looked that much better.

The gal that originally leaked the P3 remake, who apparently works for Atlus in some capacity, has now leaked that they are working on a P1 and both versions of P2 remakes. And apparently a P4 remake as well. And another SMT game from the PS2 is getting remade as well. Atlus is realizing people really like their games and there is still a big market for them if they show them same love the gave to P3:R. P3:R sold over a million copies already, in under a week. Making it the fastest selling Atlus game of all time. That is insane to me, because it isn't that many units for that amount of time. But they also had terrible practices in the past of staggered release dates across countries and exclusivity to certain consoles only. So I guess it does make sense. I hope they are all true. I'd love to play modern P1 and P2. I loved P2, but have never played P1. Problem with P2 is how hard it is to find now. And even if you get a copy via legit or pirate means, it doesn't really hold up well. Its pretty dated now.

I have P2 on my PS3 and PSP. Before that, I had a physical copy. I've had it for years and never been able to actually finish it. I remember demon negotiation sucking ass, and even simple QOL stuff like speeding up the text would go a long way with that one.

So I'll admit I was being a man-baby/angry gamer moron about this game. And this game is actually very good. And the changes are not that bad.

I downloaded P3P again, and tried playing it again, because of the music. And holy crap. After 10 minutes I had uninstalled it. And re-installed Reload. And am now way far into it. And the music has grown on me. But the one thing I will never get over is the new battle music. It just isn't as good as the OG battle music. Its not terrible now that I'm used to it. Its decent. But it just doesn't hit the same. However, now that this exists, its hard to play the other versions.

Ya the more I play it the more I like it. I actually like the music a lot and glad they kept the Velvet Room music the same as P5.

If they actually do make a Reload version of 1,2,4 then I'm down for that day one.

The velvet room music has never changed in any game. That is the same music they've used since original Persona. The only thing that was the same in all the games and their different iterations. Well, not true. The shopping channel theme is the same in all the games too. So only those two things.
