I've never seen anyone post this, but I've had another user already mention to me that they were making the trip down for this one and wanted to meet up for the event. Maybe we can do a gametz photo op or meet up ourselves with other users who are also planning on making the trip.

This is the 10th anniversary of our event here in Syracuse. Dates are Oct 7th and 8th Sat and Sunday. 10am-7pm Sat and 10am-5pm Sunday.

Here's the website for any additional information.
https://www.retrogamecon.com/

Complex is huge i had my senior ball there so you can imagine the size of this place. They say there's about 200 vendors attending. I haven't decided if i want to get a table myself or not i think i'd have more fun just going out and trading a big box honestly.

I was planning on attending either or day myself if not hopping in during work on a day or going to just one and working the other. I actually do parking operations for the complex across the street so On the day i do decide to work if i do those going i can save you the money on parking.

I know its a ways out but it never hurts to ask and see if anyone is interested.

This event is probably lots of fun. Currently watching some footage of it.

Was just on their site.

They have in their FAQ a section about their policy on weapons.

No whips are allowed. No nunchaku. No kunai. No shuriken.

"Prop bows will be allowed providing they cannot be fired and all arrows have soft tips"

Imagine trying to play videogames with a bow that has foam arrows. Even a bullseye isn't very effective.

Thanks bill!

Just bought my ticket and booked a hotel room! Will I see anyone other than Forgotten Freshness there?

Also bought the after-party ticket in case anyone wants to chill.

Hey! That would be cool! Thanks! I didn't know you were from my hometown area. Let me see what their plans are. They haven't decided yet. If they don't make up their minds soon I'll just go ahead and make plans with you and they can deal with it.

No worries, I have a second cousin that decided to come, so my car can fit one more!

I'm from DC but my mom's family is from upstate NY, so I'll be staying with my aunt and uncle in Binghamton Friday and Sunday night.

I'm the guy in the GTZ shirt carrying around a boxed Atari Jaguar that I bought at 930am and can't put in my car because the line is too long to get back in.

EDIT: Frank was able to hold onto it for me, thanks!

@porksta I looked for you, but i saw your jaguar with @Forgotten_Freshness booth on my second go around over there.. Maybe ill see you tomorrow if you plan on the 2nd day. Had an awesome sale between the two of us though. Anytime i know somebody in town I'm happy to support them and their business. Plan on bringing a ton of trade tomorrow Mostly GC a Few Guides some loose end ps1-ps2 stuff and maybe some 64. Today was really a more of a layabout feel as the crowding in the venue was massively chaotic. I was constantly hitting people and catching myself and im not a big guy either and i've moved through crowds much bigger than this with a dolly and a keg strapped to my ass. Shockingly by the time I left The line was non existent at 5pm So if anyone goes tomorrow it's either early or late.

I think my best score on the day was an unexpected sealed Eternal Poison. Really could not let that one go in front of me at the price i got it at. Passed up on an ogre battle and crono at 99 and 200. There was a lot of good stuff, but people were really only comfortable spending certain price points. Loved the amount of kids that i saw there because it's awesome to know and see the next generation doing what were doing at ages we only dreamed that we did.

I also met up with Greg, @G_Regulated and his friend chris who came intown for the con. very down to earth guys we talked about site trade gaming the venue food recommendations in the area. Hoping you stuck with those Funk and waffle chicken wings Greg. Also played a game or two for old times sake and got absolutely spanked in Point Blank and NBA Jam. Boy i am embarrassing at both games.

Fav cos plays of the day easily was a tie between the ffx trio of lulu auron and tidus as well as the girl with the old school colored macs we had in our schools as kids.

Was majorly disappointed how they handled the venue. Even got called an butt-hole over it despite the nonsense we had to put up with just to get into the building alone. From waiting 45-1hr in line with prepaid pass on a weekend entry is embarrassing. Then i select the first line and its being used as reentry without any signage nor a vip area designated for those on incentivized passes. When i finally did get to my pass i cant connect to the internet to present proof of copy because of the cell surge. I get called an butt-hole by the teller next to her threatened to be removed from the building and despite all of it im handed a pass tag with no verification of a one day or even weekend pass. i go back i put my order on the counter i argue she never gave me a pass to begin with and she basically tells me to gtfo here and not come back.

Honestly something like this needs to be done at one of the fairground spaces in the future and i hope they brokerage that contract cause you literally couldn't move inside any of the booths Which is why dealing with @Forgotten_Freshness was so much of a change of pace vs the field because it was all there right in front of you easily viewable. It wasn't like grabbing through a garage sale bin which is what i really liked about his presentation most.

Lasly on the day i do want to comment it would have been easier to get a pizza delivered to the venue than to order food inside the building not even joking. The funny thing is i really wanted a slushie and i would have paid the premium on it, but waiting in a 100 person line on either stand just wasn't worth the upscale charge. nor was leaving the building either because of the security and line conception. Thankfully dunkin had shots on shots available for the guests, but it wasn't something I'm into as i work nights.

I had tons of fun though despite all of it and thats what makes stuff like this so great because despite the barrage of bad the good was so worth every bit and second of i. I'll post my haul on the weekend when i am off monday but absolutely looking forward to tomorrow now that i know what deal expect from the venue vs vendors.

I hope everyone that went tried or did enjoy themselves because i feel for ya for what we went through.

Yeah I would have loved to go to my car at some point but even at 11am the line was a mile long to get in and I didn't feel like waiting in it.

I will be around tomorrow!

My time today was much shorter. having a pass meant i could evade the whole line. including security. i was let in on the side and even brought in a beverage surprisingly. Completely different experience and i think having registritration before security really would have done a lot of justice to the inflow of patrons.

Completed a monster 1600 trade w @Forgotten_Freshness tons of great stuff went both ways. Was able to give back to my buddy and gift him the Mega Man x3 copy i acquired as a token of appreciation for helping me get off my feet to do things the way i like to do them. As a treat to myself i couldn't not grab my first copy of suikoden 2 today. Was Couple of other nice grabs here and there on the day otherwise. Really wanted a blitz the league 2 complete copy and trust i digged my ass off both days looking for it,

Considering i was alone w so much inventory i felt it was better to spend less time on site do what i needed to do where i needed to go all while holding up two grocery bags of straight weight literally and figuratively in my hands. I also spent the day dealing with my sweatpants falling constantly and having to grab my wallet in and out of my short rather than pants which created safety, but was a pain in the ass to deal with at vendors.

Had a blast would do it all over again and can't wait for next year.

I'd recommend a large bag with multiple compartments for future trips. Can put your wallet in one of the small compartments and have games/merch in the bigger sections.

Definitely worth paying for the VIP ticket. The free swag was nice, the after-party was okay, but getting in early was worth it. Not even to scoop up any deals, but just to be able to cut the line and get through security was amazing. I was in and walking around at 9:30am, even past noon there was a line out the door to get in. I was able to talk to Metal Jesus and John Riggs before it got really busy, and there is just something about such a large convention being so quiet that is a bit... weird.

Here's Frank and I working on one of my many trades. I kept stuff in my car so am very grateful Frank was willing to put up with me over multiple trips.

Before you guys get in a tizzy, this picture is from Sunday. I wore my GTZ shirt on Saturday.
