I meant to say “first episode” up there but typed “season”. This thread has definitely piqued my interest again.

I found the first season pretty slow. And Uhtred never seems to stop getting in his own way. But the subsequent seasons have still been quite good.

Haha Uhtred is awesome yet super frustrating... He's his own worst enemy. Still way more badass than Jon Snow.

I watched the first two season of this a while back and liked it. But haven't gotten around to the latest season(s). Its on my list of things to watch though. Which just keeps getting longer and longer.

Last Kingdom is as good as Game of Thrones second to last season. Good but some poor story telling keeps it from being great. People crap on Game of Thrones (deservedly) because the last two season, especially the last, were not very good from a story telling perspective. But the first few seasons of GoT are top tier television. This show just doesn't have the story telling to be truly great. Decent watch but easily forgettable.

Finally finished season 4. Gdamn, what a great show.

Last Kingdom > GoT I absolutely agree with this.

I recently re-watched s1 and s2 and then watched s3 and s4 for the first time. The first two season are good. But s3 and s4 are kind of weak.

I still think Vikings is the better show set in that time period. I don't get you guys comparing it to GoT. Seems kind of odd to me to compare the two.

Finally watching last season, forgot how much I loved this show.

Christ I'm struggling with the names again though, too many similarities.

I'm so sad this is ending. On episode 6, it's so damn good.

Netflix shows almost never get long seasons, usually 3 or it's canceled. Big shows go longer, but Netflix usually does short series. Two shows have gone 7/8 seasons 3 shows have gone 6. Better to have shorter shows, IMO. 3 does seem to be the average.

Yeah, makes sense. Stranger Things is a good example of where it seems that they're getting out at the right time. They could/should have had longer seasons and quicker release, but understandably so, working with child actors creates a challenge there.

Last Kingdom though, honestly, I feel like this could/should have had 10 seasons, easily. They cram so much in each season that when watching recaps, it's amazing how much ground they cover.

Just looked, yep, looks like there are 3 novels that are not going to make it into the series - shame really. Perhaps the movie will try to bridge some of that, or perhaps additional movie follow ups. Hopeful that the success of the show will allow them to continue in some capacity, yet super happy with how they wrapped it up - minus leaving the audience wanting more.

Looks like it was always planned to only be 5 seasons, they stuck to their initial goal.

Yeah it's been out for a while. I haven't had time to watch it but I read the fans were happy(ish) and it wrapped up well and was done well.

Finally watched seven kings must die... Awesome, but so salty it's all over.

I heard how it ends, still can't watch it. Was it at least good?

I still need to watch the final (5) season. I keep forgetting as I rarely use Netflix. I might actually start from the beginning again and watch it all the way through this month. Its been a while since I've watched any of it. So just jumping into the final season might be a bit confusing. Which reminds me, I still haven't seen the last 2 or 3 season of Vikings either.

I've wanted to check out Vikings as well at some point. Forgot about that one.
