Think I found my newest hobby, collecting video game vinyls. Never knew they made so many. I have a couple right now, but wanted to see if anyone had any FS/FT. Biggest wants right now are Resident Evil and Fallout.

The hole in the middle of a vinyl is smaller than the hole in the middle of a CD.

Nice! I've been collecting video game vinyl for a few years now. I don't buy many. Just my favorites so I never really have many to trade/sell. I've got The Last Guardian though if you're interested. Spun twice and it's in great condition. Which ones do you have?

Lol it certainly isn't a cheap hobby, but I've always been a sucker for physical media and I love that so many soundtracks get pressed on vinyl now.

MSRP is not cheap. I only have a modest-sized collection, maybe 50-60 albums. It's been my experience though that the old popular used stuff is cheap (60s - 90s pop/alt/rock) to get my hands on, and the unique stuff (record store day albums, Synthwave, video game soundtracks) are limited enough in supply that the value of the item either stays where MSRP was or goes up. As long as you stay away from the reprints and mass produced retail stuff BestBuy and WalMart carry, it's not a very losing market...right now.

The inconvenience part, that's just 100% true.

I only have a small lot of older vinyl available right now, no video game soundtracks.

We got a couple of hangable clear frames that are sized to hold Vinyl sleeves. It allows us to showcase our Vinyl as artwork on the walls. It's fun to swap em out and show off our favorite album art.

That's a fun idea.

I started down this path (videogame vinyl records collection) a couple of years ago. I'll tell ya...I'd really much rather have a nice CD.

Less hassle, rippable, takes up less space, generally no selling out of stock, alot more available in the used market, just to name a few benefits.

I do still have around 20 VG records.

Sadly, alot of OOP ones go for too much in the aftermarket.

Adding a bit to the discussion, it just pains me to find out that not only did BraveWave release remastered soundtrack albums for my favorite game series (in vinyl and CD), they did it in such a way that there's next to no way I'll ever be able to get a copy for myself.

Copies of the vinyl are plentiful. Copies the CD are rare as hell.

I can't bring myself to pay the ridiculous prices you see on some of the OOP stuff. Thankfully more soundtracks are being repressed these days so I'm hoping and praying Sayonara Wild Hearts and Death Stranding get repressed at some point. I think those are the main two that are missing from my collection. Well Life is Strange as well, but that one likely isn't getting repressed and I've kinda made peace with the fact that I'll never own it.

The vinyl resurgence is a mixed blessing; it's great to be able to pick up awesome stuff on wax, but these high MSRP and the inevitable scalpers that buy this crap up fast and then drive up the resale market is insane. If you don't pick something up the second it goes on sale you are out of luck.

My game soundtrack wax collection is small; I've got The Division | Goldeneye N64 Orchestra | Goldeneye Lofi | Last Guardian | Last of Us volumes 1 and 2 | Last of Us Pt 2 volumes 1 and 2 | Memories of Tokyo-To (a JSRF homage) | Red Dead Redemption 2 Soundtrack and Score | Shadow of the Colossus | Uncharted 4 | Zelda Chill

I'd have more but the prices get to be insane. I've tried to pick stuff up when the are first released.

It's crazy.

Good luck on your hunt!

I have the Mafia 3 Original Score and Original Soundtrack records, both are brand new. They came with the collector's edition. I've only ever sold the bundle as a set but may consider breaking it up if you are interested.

That's a nice collection! I remember as recently as like 2018 or 2019 you could get video game vinyl from Thinkgeek at awesome prices. I remember getting BOTH The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4 for like $15 total during a sale and now each one goes for like $100 on Discogs. It's insane!

Here's my collection. There are a few that I still want to grab, but not until they are repressed. But there are a couple - like Astro Bot and Octopath Traveler - that can still be had at around retail that I'd like to grab before the end of the year.

- Bastion
- Bloodborne
- Bound
- Cosmic Star Heroine
- Daughter - Music from Before The Storm (Life is Strange)
- Demon's Souls
- Detroit Become Human: Volume 2
- Devil May Cry 5
- Dragon Quest 11
- Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
- Final Fantasy 13
- God of War
- Grand Theft Auto 5
- Haven
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Hikaru Utada - Face My Fears (for Kingdom Hearts 3)
- Life is Strange: Before The Storm
- Nier
- Persona 3
- Persona 5
- Pyre
- Resident Evil 0
- Resident Evil 2 (1998)
- Road 96
- Shadow of the Colossus
- Shenmue
- So Let Us Melt
- Songs of Supergiant Games
- Tetris Effect
- The Flame in the Flood
- The Last Guardian
- The Red Lantern
- Transistor
- Uncharted 4
- VA-11 HALL-A
- We Are OFK

The licensed tracks for Mafia 3 are fantastic! Such an underrated game.

My first vinyl is actually from Evil Dead: The Game I backed on Kickstarter. It's still sealed, mostly because my parents had a vinyl collection and we were never allowed to touch, play, etc so I've never really messed with vinyl... that and I don't have a vinyl player and unsure of how it will go playing it in this apartment. LOL

Materia is having a really solid sale on VG vinyl.

https://materia.store/collections/video-game-sound...

They also have a Powerhour deal where they offer deep discounts on records. This one ends in 3 hours.

https://materia.store/collections/powerhour

If you've never ordered from them before use the code WELCOME10 to get $10 off order of $50+

EDIT: Looks like the Powerhour deals actually run through the 27th. They swap in a new selection of vinyl on the hour every hour. I got Chocobo & Chill for $15 which is a really nice deal.

I know, man. I think they only restocked maybe a handful of the really popular stuff and it was all gone almost immediately. Which ones were you looking for and what did you end up getting? The Powerhour sale for this hour is really good. Nothing for me personally, but I see they’ve sold out of some already.

Some of the ones I wanted: Resident Evil OG, Sonic Adventure, Castlevania 2 and 3

I got these:

@Lunar Nice! You mean Resident Evil 1996, right? Because looks like it's in stock.

https://materia.store/products/resident-evil-1996-...

It's $20 cheaper than retail which isn't bad at all, but maybe they'll have it as part of their POWERHOUR sale at some point. I was able to get the Nier Lofi vinyl for $10 early when it was part of the POWERHOUR sale. Some of the deals have been really good so far.

@Heavyd814life How often does Materia Store have a sale? Prices are back to normal and stock still out.

I'm actually more likely to pick up CDs from them than vinyl.

Not sure how often they restock. As far as sales go, they had a really good Christmas sale last year so I’m sure they’ll have another this year.

RE2 OG is backordered on a couple of sites so it looks like that one will get restocked at some point. Hopefully in time for their Christmas sale.
