Don't pass it up people. I got one and the savings on gas alone make it well worth it.

I don't think my local one has gas, but I snagged it anyway.

I hate getting gas at Sam's. I'll pay the extra $ so I don't have to wait 5-10 minutes burning gas while idling.

That's how I feel about BJs, I have a membership there and it's such a wait to the point of not being worth it.

Remember to let it expire at the end and not renew at their crazy prices.

You can very often find deals where, after a discount, the membership is basically free. Don't get me wrong, this $10 thing is a good deal and very simple. But, for anyone in the future when it is time to renew, just watch Groupon or other sites for more specials. What they very often do is a thing where you buy the membership at their normal price (I think $45 now), but then you get a $45 credit back on your first purchase. That sort of thing. yes

Right, also cancel the auto renew once you get it.

If it's a new account and it's available in store, pay cash. They can't auto-renew if you don't have a card associated with the account. That's how my old account was. Everytime you paid they'd ask to save the card to the account, the Sirius XM/Planet Fitness/subscription model. No thanks.

Never been to a Sam's club and the nearest one to me is 17 miles away. I've got like 10 Costcos that are closer. Any reason to sign up for their membership?

Aside from a flash sale on an item you may or may not want, I'd say no if you have a Costco membership. Much of the stuff they sell in bulk can be found cheaper elsewhere, including Walmart which often times next door.

We buy bulk spices/seasonings, jerky, and kid's snacks mostly. Did buy an outdoor projector kit for $125 that's been good for movie nights, but that was a seasonal clearance.

Yeah, we have a membership, but I wouldn't do it if it wasn't free or near-free every time.

I hear the gas prices are usually good -- ours doesn't have a gas station, but the rumor is that we're getting one soon. Hopefully.

We buy a few things there regularly:

1. Salt for our water softener. This appears to be the best deal for us -- cheaper than anywhere else I can get it and the bags are 10% larger too. (44 pounds instead of 40.)
2. Guacamole. They have these little 3-bag boxes that we really like.
3. Big bags of lettuce, ready/washed veggies, and that sort of stuff. Lettuce went crazy prices everywhere else this year, but still cheap here (two pound bags for $2). Note that there other product (tomatoes, peppers, and so on) are NOT that good in price.

Other than that, it is a few things here and there more for convenience than price.
